Good ambiance for that little hidden cafe feel with cool art and design. The espresso was really good in my opinion and the chai latte was as good as any other. The service was decent, but I think staying open another hour plus til say 3-3:30 would accommodate a few more people looking to get a coffee or tea after lunch. Hard to rate I was in the Village at Siesta key for a different reason and found myself this morning parked practically in front of the Bean. That was convenient and I decided I should pop in. A quick check of their menu online told me in addition to coffees and smoothies, they also offer sandwiches, including an Egg Sandwich on a homemade English muffin. OK. For my second breakfast I ordered the egg sandwich with sausage and a Latte. They have a couple of tables inside but the place to be is outside on beautiful days like today, so once I had my food that's where I headed. The sandwich was fine, the egg uniformly blended and sliced rather than a yolk with white around it. I'm not sure how best to describe it. Anyway, the flavor of the sausage and cheese was not very pronounced. I'm not sure about the homemade English muffin, it wasn't like those commercially produced discs with nooks and crannies, more like a light pastry. Whatever it technically was, it worked fine. While I sat outside a couple of large dogs went inside the small restaurant, and I didn't see anything indicating they were working or support animals. I didn't ask anyone so I'm not sure if this was ok. Generally speaking, animals should not be inside restaurants unless exempt for some allowed reason. Outside, fine, and there are even water bowls outside. Regarding service. Without first reading other reviews, I unfortunately came to the same conclusion about the man, not a happy person. He was making the sandwich, which did take longer than I thought it should for a place with no other customers. I think he was prepping for making sandwiches later. Of course I'm not sure if my sandwich just takes that long because it has hot ingredients. What I am sure about was when it was ready he just said my name and slammed it on the counter, and turned right around and left. I visit a lot of places, this is very much not normal. I am very eco conscious and my first take is that there are no mugs only paper throw away cups! The biany's were not toasted well and rather bland, the cappuccino lacked everything about taste. It was not at all to our liking... a huge dollop of milk and no substance beyond! I really enjoyed this place and visited them twice during my vacation. They had excellent cold brew; so much so I bought a bag of beans - organic Peruvian roast. I also thoroughly enjoyed their lox breakfast sandwiches (as pictured). The space is small but has a relaxing vibe. Staff was friendly. It was in a little plaza and there is some seating outside on the patio/deck area (which was also dog friendly!) What a hidden gem!!! We were exploring the siesta key village area and walked around a plaza off the street. There wasn't too many people hanging around this plaza but we were curious to see what was around. And voila! This spot only opens until 2pm I think but their egg and cheese with Tomatoes on a homemade English muffin breakfast sandwich was amazing!!! And their iced mocha latte with oat milk was delish!!! I wish I had this spot back home. Now I'm craving it. But if you are ever in that area, it's a must try! Also they have nice outdoor seating and a couple of tables inside. Ugh. This rating is so hard to do. I'll start with the good. They have the best homemade english muffin I've ever had! It's soft and has all the books and crannies that make them delicious! I ordered the ham, egg and cheese sandwich. Listen...you need to get this sandwich every single time. Its huge and delicious! You will not leave hungry. Here's why they just get 3 stars. The owner/manager is extremely rude. He doesn't discriminate, he's rude to everyone that walks in the door. He doesn't let you ask questions, he doesn't greet you or say thank you. Nothing. He's just rude. Which seems odd since he's in a prime destination and could definitely be a local favorite. 4 stars for the food and 1 star for service. So I graciously land at 3. I would rather eat glyphosate straight up than return and here's why - first I'll say that consuming organic is important to us. However, on our very first day in Siesta Key we visited Mojo Coffee and the market where we met a nice gentleman who suggested the Bean for breakfast. Homemade English muffins, rolls, etc all made with organic ingredients. Totally up our alley. Upon entering with our unmarked Mojo cups one man said snidely just loud enough for us to hear "how are those coffees ?" We explained the situation and he said at the same decibel "sorry ". The other man behind the counter seemed as though I was requesting his spare kidney when I had a minor question about the menu. They both were rude and we will not return. They made us feel like taking our hard earned cash was an inconvenience to his pretentious lives. I'd suggest the Bonjour French Cafe. Incredible and they were nice... it's not hard to be nice while taking money. read more

The owner was extremely rude and did not even acknowledge us, or the 3 ladies who entered behind us. He did however start the order of a man who walked in a couple minutes behind us and shouted out his order, again, before acknowledging us. In all the years I've been coming to Siesta Key, I've somehow never been to The Local Bean before today. I'm really glad I finally decided to drop by: the owner is amiable and clearly loves what he does, which is reflected in the quality of his coffee. I ordered a cold brew while my partner had an iced latte, and both were quite excellent. Some of the beans (perhaps all?) are roasted locally, which is always appreciated. Though we declined to order any, the food looked and smelled delicious, and it was hard to resist the temptation of ordering a muffin or breakfast sandwich. Perhaps on our next visit! The interior of the business offers a unique blend of the the experiences that the island has to offer. It's a cozy, homey café, yet it mixes the pseudo-industrial vibe of an open ceiling and exposed air ducts with beachy paintings from local artists and a wall-length chalkboard menu. The best descriptor for the space is inviting, and having recently relocated to the area, I'm inclined to make this a regular haunt of mine. Thanks again for the coffee! read more

I've been coming here for years every time we visit Siesta Key because of its convenient location and good coffee. Sadly the service here doesn't match their menu. I'm not sure if the man working behind the counter is the owner, but I have never felt so belittled by someone. It's almost as if he seems annoyed that we've ordered. He will slam things down on the counter, and rush your ordering process, and don't even bother asking questions because that may set him off more. My last visit will most likely be my last, as he was particularly more rude than usual and as a customer, nobody should have to experience that. I will be taking my money elsewhere! read more

This little coffee shop was absolutely STELLAR. We were renting a house in the area and would walk over in the mornings. Now, I'm not a coffee drinker, as I prefer tea, so this review is tea specific. I am quite picky about a chai tea, and so many are powder base, and on top of all that, I'm dairy free. They had an INCREDIBLE chai here that could be done with oat milk. It wasn't overly sweet, the consistency was fabulous, and it was perfectly spiced. Loved The Local Bean this past week while on vaca in Siesta Key! Our rental home was just 2 blocks away which made this place super convenient stop. I visited 3 times during my stay to pick up morning coffee for myself and my husband. Coffee is all organic and the pastries are made fresh daily. The Blueberry Lemon Scones were amazing and the coffee was the best I've had in awhile. The only thing I was missing was my dog so I could have my coffee and scone on the front porch seating. Everyday several people were outside enjoying their morning brew with their pets. The hot black coffee is self serve and you add your own creamer/flavorings at the coffee bar counter. All other beverage choices are made to order. I noticed some of the other reviewers were complaining about the owner not being the most personable. He seemed fine to me. I'm not much of a talker before my morning caffeine & I'm a pretty straight forward, give me my coffee type of gal, so his straight forward attitude without a lot of fluff and conversation didn't rub me the wrong way. By my 3rd visit in, I think he recognized me and was a little more apt to make conversation, told me to have a good day and if I needed anything to let him know. I will return on my next visit to the village for some more yummy coffee (the macadamia nut was my go to) and am looking forward to trying some more of the homemade pastries. read more

Cool local spot in the middle of a very touristy shopping center. The Local Bean has a diverse menu with light lunch fare as well as plenty of drinks. The best part: housemade syrups and locally made loose leaf tea. I ordered a black coconut iced tea and man, was it good! I ended up buying a bag of loose leaf to take home because I was so impressed. And at $2 for a 16 oz drink (and cheaper for hot teas), it was a great deal. The Local Bean has games and books to enjoy, solo or with a friend. The facility (including restrooms) was clean and cozy. We are locals in an area where filled with tourists; we love to walk and support local businesses. When we go to a local coffee shop to grab coffee and breakfast, we expect make new friends and keep coming back. When the person behind the counter (owner/manager?) is extremely rude, three times while we place one order... no matter how good their food might be, we will never be back! Compared to some of the other coffee shops in town, I think this place had the best, most reasonably priced coffee in Siesta Keys Village area. I was a bit surprised by a lot of the negative reviews I've read, but, that being said, we only had coffee... nothing fancy and no breakfast sandwiches. The lady who waited on us was very pleasant. There was a guy there too, but never really had any interaction with him. Several people came in and ordered while we sat and enjoyed a coffee and nothing was out of the ordinary the morning we were there. The owner should not I repeat should not be in the customer service, food service business. He has to be the rudest business owner I have ever encountered. My family actually renamed this place Grumpy's. We kept going back to try to see if just possibly he might crack a smile or not be a rude jerk. Nope!!! Never happened. Seriously I went out of my way to try to engage with him and have a break thru but in 23 days it never happened.
