I am about to begrudgingly share my secret weapon for IT services with the world. Seriously - this feels like when you find a great sushi restaurant, that's SO good and SO reasonably priced you want to keep it all to yourself. Only instead of maguro and California rolls, it's IT solutions and incredibly good customer service. Okay, here it is: The Linde Group, of Berkeley, CA, is, without exaggeration, the most amazing service company of ANY kind I've ever used. Here's how The Linde Group is different from all the rest: They consistently exceed my expectations (which are very high to begin with!) - I mean, every time. If you take a look at their mission statement, you'll notice it talks about delivering excellent customer service, and behaving with integrity - and if (like me) your experience has led you to be cynical about that kind of statement, you might roll your eyes and say "Yeah, right." But, amazingly enough, The Linde Group lives up to every word of their mission statement and then some. What's the main motivator for most companies, IT included? Money. The bottom line. The Linde Group enjoys making money, sure (especially because they like to be able to attract the best hires) - but they are far more motivated by doing an excellent job. I've used them for years now, and they never stop asking "How can we serve our clients even more efficiently than we do now? What can we do to improve our (already superior) customer service?" Trust me, this is a quality you REALLY want in an IT service. And they're not "one-platform specialists". They are extremely proficient with both Mac and Windows systems; they are gurus of Exchange environments; and they are extremely good at learning the peculiarities of your particular infrastructure and coming up with a tailored solution that makes sense for you. In other words, they aren't like some IT folks who have learned how to set things up or fix things one way, and try to shove that solution down your throat regardless of fit. The Linde Group has made it a point of pride, apparently, to learn many ways to approach a wide variety of issues, so that they can give their clients a custom-tailored approach. Their goal is to build long-term relationships, and they do - I've been using them for over 12 years now. Values and culture are extremely important to the Linde Group folks - they can fit in to environments from button-down Fortune 500, to the more unorthodox Modern Hip-type company. And boy, are these guys smart - without talking down. Every time I talk to them, I come away realizing I learned something valuable that I can use, and the whole time I thought I was just having a fun conversation with some really funny, cool people! How do they do that? Neat trick! So, the bottom line is: If The Linde Group says they're going to do something, they will do it. If they say they'll show up at a certain time, you can schedule around it because they will be there (barring earthquakes or other acts of god - and sometimes even then!). They will charge you quite reasonably for services that will pay for themselves many times over. Call these guys and you will never again tear your hair out because the IT guy just left and your system still doesn't work. They WILL fix it, and if they don't know how they will learn immediately and THEN fix it. But they'll know how - they've been in the biz a long time, and have the smartest techs in the business. Period. Again, the only reservation I have about singing the praises of The Linde Group is that I want them all for myself; aside from that, I can recommend them with 100% certainty that they will blow the doors off any other IT service you've ever used.
