Last week my parents were visiting and my dad needed a car key cut with a manual machine. He searched for key shops and this spot I must have walked past hundreds of times was his top choice. My dad had called ahead of time to make sure he could get his key cut and a price quote. Also to double check hours and when to stop by. Since I live in the area I walked with him to the shop. The key was cut quickly and works great! I'm really writing this review from what I thought of my dad's experience, but based on everything I would recommend this shop and come here myself again. read more

Von is great. After a few text messages, he was at my apartment within the hour. He diagnosed the problem within minutes. Price was beyond reasonable. I trust Von and would contact him again with any lock issues in a heartbeat. read more

Amazing service! Very knowledgeable and committed to resolving your situation. Highly recommend.

The customer service was amazing, the best I've received since arriving here in DC. My key worked perfectly as if it was purchased through the dealership. This small personalized business man made me feel like family while practicing CDC COVID safety. I've since recommended my friends and family because of my experience. The price for service was affordable and the business had my fob and key in stock. I didn't have to wait for an order which I appreciated because time these days is the most valuable thing. Thank you for the experience read more

I have used this business before, when I locked myself out of my condo. So when I did it again, I had no hesitation in calling them back. I told the business I was locked out, and I had a dog with me and it was extremely hot. Von got to me in less than 15 minutes. Quick, professional, and reasonable charge. I got some security advice while he was working. Highly recommend this business. Good work and service ethic. Locally owned business. read more

We lost a key car and were very worried about being down to only one car key. The last time I had a copy made, it cost me almost $100, which I did not want to repeat. As promised, I came here and got three car keys and four house keys cut for a grand total of $28. I am absolutely thrilled - well worth the drive. read more

I got keys made here, they did a fine job with some keys that hardware stores struggle with for some reason. Mailbox keys, Yale front door keys, car keys--they can do a lot! The shop is kind of gross in a weird building surrounded by the oil sales people. It's just as bad inside as outside. Adorning the floors were dead roaches and mouse droppings, so it was kind of disgusting. But I'm not taking off stars since they made my keys fast! Also, adding to the overall ambiance, a door next to the keyshop was boarded over. It was kind of funny it was so badly done. So just to be clear, they are good with keys, bad with cleaning (as in the whole building is absolutely disgusting). read more

Quick easy and efficient. What more could you ask for in a business?? It's a small entry way but we're dealing with keys so you don't need much space. I needed five copies of a key and got them done in less than five mins. Looks like they can support fobs and car keys too if needed! read more

i was having trouble getting a key into my front door lock. Von was friendly and easy to communicate with, first by phone and then text. Before coming over, he first secured a replacement lock in case that would prove necessary. When he got to my house, he was able to diagnose a misalignment between the lock and the door jam as well as identify loose door hinges as another contributor to the problem. He concluded that I did not need a new lock after all. Von was highly professional and efficient. I will absolutely use him in the future and highly recommend him to friends. read more

Love this place. I had lost one of the two programmable keys for my car. The dealer wanted $230 for a new one, other locksmiths wanted $160 for it. The Lil Key Shop made me a new one in about three minutes, for $90. It worked great. I would definitely recommend this locksmith if you need a new key for your car, or anything else. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: I discovered that my replacement car key was not cut by my dealer and did not open my door when my car battery died. My gf contacted this shop and not only immediately made the key but did the research to make sure it was correct. Really got me out of a jam and was amazing to work with. If you need a locksmith this shop has a heart/soul, wont nickel and dime you, and should be the only place you ever go. read more

The gentleman at the shop was able to repair my husband's slightly bent transponder car key (once my husband assumed any risk of damage) expertly, and without charge! EXCEPTIONAL... SUPPORT businesses like THIS ONE! read more

Von was able to repair my car key which I thought would be a total loss. I was in and out in 20 minutes for a price no one else could beat!

I was locked out of my apartment at 10 pm on a weekday, and this is the number my building office's voicemail told me to call. There was no live operator, just a voicemail message assuring me that if I left my information, someone would come to let me in "immediately." Well, apparently, immediately means "never," because no one ever showed up or called me back. I ended up calling another locksmith at midnight and paying a hefty chunk of change for late-night service. I'll be letting the building management know that they should probably pick another locksmith service. read more

After coming back from a long overseas trip and being locked out of our apartment at 11pm on a Saturday, this locksmith saved us. He was at our door within five minutes. Great guy, very professional, knows his business, and very dependable. He will be the person I will always go to in the future, without a doubt. He's in my contacts for good. read more

Locked Out Lost Keys came to my Petworth apartment in twenty minutes early on a Sunday evening. The locksmith told me it would cost $135 max, but ended up charging me just $85 because he was able to pick the lock without a drill. I really appreciate Locked Out's honesty. A couple weeks ago, a locksmith from another company claimed the lock was impossible to pick and charged us $150. read more

Quick! Affordable! Life saver! Thought I would have to sell my house just to have a key made from the BMW dealership. Locked Out Lost Keys saved me so much money and time. Literally less than half the cost. Thank you for being punctual and giving me great service in my time of desperate need. read more

While I would not recommend trying to go on a Saturday, the service was prompt and exactly what I needed. Fair pricing, friendly, and fast.

After a nightmarish episode with a different locksmith, I called these guys. Their rates were BY FAR the cheapest in DC. They only charged $75 total, no hidden fees. Other estimates that I got were as high as $150 PER DOOR or $105 (for the service call and the actual lock). *Do not call Locksmith4You.com, they are the devil. they have a really low service call fee, $35, and then try to charge $150 per door. I almost murdered the idiot they sent because he was so disingenuous. read more

I would have to say that Locked Out Lost Keys has been an angel and "saving grace" for my youngest daughter! On two occasions, they have had to come to her rescue when she was having issues with her car key! It didn't matter what time of the day she needed them, they've shown up with a smile and got her moving on her way expeditiously! I have also called on them to make extra keys for me when I moved to my new office. I love the convenience and "service with a smile" attitude I get from Locked Out Lost Keys! Von and his Lil Key Shop was a pleasure to work with. He programmed and cut two keys for our car in short order. In an amazing coincidence, our child simultaneously tried picking our front door lock with a stick. Needless to say, another trip to Von was in order. I dismantled the lock and brought it back to the shop and Von was quickly able to open the lock and remove the debris and get the lock back in working order in no time. Thank you! read more

I have to say I was very impressed with the service I received at Locked Out Lost Keys. I brought my FOB in thinking I needed a new battery. The Locksmith exchanged the battery, and found that it still did not work. He took the time to manipulate the FOB for several minutes until he was able to get it to work. He did not charge me. He was friendly and informative. I enjoy good service. I makes me want to continue to patronize the business, for which I will! read more

I recently had the pleasure of doing business with Vonfranklin Marshall of Locked Out List Keys LLC (also the Lil Key Shop). He was TERRIFIC. I have an aging car but I love it and am not ready to get rid of it yet. This means I am having to fix lots of things these days. The most recent problem was a broken ignition. The wonderful guys at Distad's Service Station (9th and Penn SE) referred me to Von and he was great. He removed the ignition, fixed it, removed the chip from my old worn out key and put it in a newly cut key. Everything works perfectly now. From what I understand from mechanics and friends who have had to deal with this, he saved me hundreds of dollars and even more hassle by making it possible for me to avoid replacing the entire ignition. He's also a really nice guy and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend! read more

Cannot say enough good things about Von. He stuck with us through a very long, protracted operation involving Honda keys. He was pleasant, resourceful, and true to his word. Capitol Hill is lucky to have this place. read more

Von is the best, period. Do yourself a favor; look no more if you need a locksmith.

I cannot say enough good things about Locked Out Lost Keys! They were an absolute lifesaver for me when I found myself at my front door with no keys, no wallet, and no way to get into my house or office! I was not a pleasant person to deal with on the phone when I was panicking about my situation - but they were willing to help! They arrived quickly and went above and beyond (including climbing my back fence multiple times and dealing with old corroded locks on my iron gates) to get me into my Capitol Hill townhouse. They are the only locksmith company I will use in DC and I'll never forgot their amazing and incredibly kind service! read more

Look no further! I had my bag stolen last (jerks!) and my keys and license were in it so we had to get our locks changed and found this place on Yelp and they were great! The locksmith from Locked Out Lost Keys actually answered the phone and came to our house within minutes. He gave a quick and honest assessment of what we needed, promptly installed the new lock and even knocked off $5 from his bill because he felt sorry for us. He was very sympathetic and professional. He also did a quick walk-through of the sliding and basement doors and gave us some additional safety tips. ! Highly recommend you call these locksmiths if you need a 24 hour locksmith! read more
