I called DC Locksmith yesterday about a lock that had begun acting up. It was not an emergency, and I was calling mid to late afternoon, so I really didn't expect same-day service, but Udi arrived within the time range he gave me for that evening. He gave us options for the lock, which we ended up replacing. He also looked at a sliding glass door we have that has no lock; we wanted to know if it was possible to add one. We had asked another locksmith about this issue a couple of years ago and were unimpressed with his clueless response. Udi told us our options, then recommended against doing the work unless we really needed it because it would be quite expensive. We found Udi to be knowledgeable, professional, personable, and fast. I can't speak to the cost in comparison to other companies because I hadn't done any research beforehand, but he gave us a range of choices for replacement of the lock, and we felt the charges were reasonable. Our front door deadbolt stopped working and I could not lock our house ! I looked at reviews on this site and found many Five Stars. I also saw a photo of Avi happily greeting a customer's dog ! Eureka ! We have two Pit Bulls in our family ! I called and spoke to the owner Udi who happens to be Avi's brother ! Fantastic I thought, a small business to support! I made an appointment and was so happy that Avi arrived on time !! Wow !! Avi replaced the front deadbolt and door knob perfectly and they are so much better than the locks I had before! I then decided to ask Avi to look at an Andersen door lock on our patio door. It has not functioned correctly since it was installed, by Andersen, two years ago. Andersen actually sent repairmen twice to fix it and it still never operated correctly ! Hallelujah ! Avi dissembled everything and put it back together ! It works PERFECTLY now ! These are the best locksmiths in DC, hands down. I called on a Thursday for a Friday appointment because my back door has a french door mechanism that wasn't working properly, as well as a metal grate door with a rusted lock. Itamar Greddy came within the first half of the quoted window (something that rarely happens) and was extremely polite. Rather than try to provide the most expensive option, he patiently explained that completely fixing the french door wasn't cost-effective, but devised a quick fix to ensure the door would at least stay closed rather than swinging open during wind gusts. He then carefully explained the cost, benefits, and downsides of replacing the existing lock on the metal door, and made sure I was OK with the cost before beginning installation. After completing the repair, he swept up and made sure the work area was cleaner than when he arrived. In short, this company (particularly Itamar!) provides top-notch service and doesn't overcharge for unnecessary services. The best! read more

DC Locksmith restored peace to my family. There are three locks on my old, wooden front door, only one of which, the original lock, turns properly from the inside. The big problem is, this lock is the only one that requires a different key -- all the other locks have one key, but this one requires its own. For at least a year now, my 11-year-old son will arrive home from school and lock the door after him with the only lock that works -- the old lock with a separate key. No matter how many times I tell my 15-year-old daughter to put that other key on her ring, she forgets...she inevitably comes home to find her brother arrived before her and has locked her out. Needless to say, she is NOT pleased. I called DC Locksmith - they came when they said they would, and within an hour, all of my locks worked great and were re-keyed so ONE key opens all of the locks on the front door. DC Locksmith were very professional, knowledgeable and on time. Udi and Itamar took the time to help us with a task no other locksmith could do or was interesting in doing. Our 6 drawer lateral file cabinet locks in our office needed to be replaced and although the mechanisms were broke they advised us of others options, one was to install a lock bar. This method was way cheaper than purchasing new cabinets which would have cost over $3,000. They didn't even charge a service fee to determine what the problem was and even brought in someone (Itamar) who specializes in installing lock bars. The job took about one hour or so to complete. Itamar even moved the heavy cabinets when he completed the task which saved us days from waiting on our office movers to do it. I told him we have movers for that but he insisted on moving the cabinets. We are extremely satisfied and will use them again in the future. Thanks so much guys! read more

Udi is simply the best. True to the outstanding reviews in Yelp, Udi was able to replace the heavy duty locks in our 10-year old kitchen and basement doors with modern locks quickly and professionally. When we had issues with the basement door due to the shifting of the door frame, Udi did not hesitate to respond quickly and efficiently without charging us, resolving the issue which had nothing to do with the replacement lock itself. When the time comes to change our other doors and locks, we will certainly reach out to him again. On a personal note, he is very friendly and knowledgeable on the latest standards and requirements on security doors and locks in DC. I live in Adams Morgan, and I needed these guys yesterday evening around 7:30pm. I did some Google searching, and called them at 7:38pm. They confirmed with another call at 7:44pm. Itamar arrived at 8:16pm - exactly when he said he would arrive. Earlier, even. He was as charismatic as they come. Even as he parked illegally in front of my building. "It'll only take five minutes," he boasted. Sure enough we walked to the second floor. He prepared me for the worst, but had the door open with minimal effort. Total work time was actually around three minutes. While I hate the situation I found myself in I was incredibly happy with the level of customer service these guys provided. DC Locksmith is THE BEST. I called them to replace a twenty year old lock on my front door. Even though the temperature was flirting with 100 degrees, Udi worked on extracting the old rusted-in lock for over an hour until he was able to replace it with a new lock without complaint. He also adjusted an existing lock to make sure it would be viable for a number of years into the future. Udi also explained options for other lock replacements without pressuring me to purchase them. (Who does that anymore?) A few days later, when I noticed that the new front door lock was a bit loose, I called them. Avi and Udi were there almost immediately and refined the new installment. I just had fantastic service from Itamar Geddy! I called the courteous dispatch who sent Itamar within an hour. My older deadbolt had been gradually becoming more and more difficult to open and close from the inside as well as from outside. The locking mechanism was completely failing to engage about half of the time on my security door. Itamar came and quickly repaired the door and assured me that there was no need to immediately replace the lock. He also noticed a problem with my interior door and resolved that as well. I highly recommend Itamar and DC Locksmith for courteous, fast service. I've used a locksmith and was ripped off before, so I was somewhat skeptical of all the rave reviews. Udi and his brother Avi run a family business so you get one of the co-owners when they come out to provide service (and it really is a 24-7 emergency service). Udi is very professional and friendly and at first tried to get into my locked out house without damaging the deadbolt lock but could not. Within a half hour he had me in my house with a new deadbolt lock and two new keys for a very reasonable price (he cut me a few price breaks) and on a Sunday morning, no less. Very great service by guys that know their business (they do commercial work too). This business is trying to do the right thing by its customers and grow the right way. They work in DC and VA. Got a set of keys stolen today and called DC Locksmith to change our locks. Udi was in the neighborhood and got to our place within 10 minutes of the call. This was a BIG job as we have all doors and iron gates to our house keyed with the same key. Some doors with doorknob and deadbolt locks - 13 locks total. He was fast, efficient, super professional and kind. He even took our job before going to get food when he hadn't eaten all day and his wife had just arrived after being out of town. I fully recommend DC Locksmith - they are the best! I had a front door lock and handle that badly needed adjustment. I talked to DC Locksmith on. Tuesday and was asked a couple of quick questions about the issue - then given a verbal estimate to repair or replace the lock. It was reasonable so I scheduled for Thursday morning. They came out within the window, made the necessary adjustments to the lock and door, applied my Yelp coupon, and gave me some free advice about my iron gate. I learned a lot and enjoyed Udi's visit to change 5 locks on my new home. He was prompt and liked to make sure I understood everything he was doing. I enjoyed learning from him and particularly his helpful and friendly spirit.
