Great service installing new locks to replace some ancient ones! And they were priced more reasonably than some of their competitors.

My old lock, on an old door, had been sticking so I called to have it replaced. instead they were able to re-jigger the old lock & re-align the door so that the lock didn't need replacing. Fast work & I ordered new keys. Service was prompt and excellent. I highly recommend them. I found them by googling Locksmiths, so had no idea what to expect--lucky find. read more

Top-notch service from start to finish! I was pleasantly surprised by the availability and quick scheduling. I called for an appointment on Tuesday, and they arrived at my home the very next day. The work--repairing my front door and installing new locks with rekeys on other doors--was completed in about an hour. The locksmith was pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient. The cost was fair, and everything now works perfectly, with fewer keys to manage. This isn't my first experience with The New District Lock & Hardware, Inc., and they'll continue to be my first call whenever I need locksmith services in the future. read more

Great service. I had a problem with a couple front door locks. I remembered that I had used them many years earlier so I called in and the obviously experienced locksmith was here the very next day. It looked at first like I might have to replace a lock mechanism but he suggested a repair instead which he completed then and there. All done within an hour. He also noted some friction between a security door and its frame and he even volunteered to grind the metal to relieve the friction. Very happy and I highly recommend them. read more

Steve came when he said he would, worked quickly and efficiently, solved my problem and was reasonably priced - which I can't say was the case for other locksmiths I have used. read more

Steve was on time, informative and did a perfect job installing the keypad. He was friendly and made sure I understood how to use the lock. Excellent service at a terrific price. read more

We've hired them a few times for special keys and locks. Today we had them install a combination lock for our front door. They have always been professional. read more

Up to the hype! John keyed four locks alike for us at a fair price, was pleasant and professional to work with, and got all the work done quickly, cleanly, and correctly in about 45 minutes. There's a 90-day warranty included. This resident domestic security expert both (a) preserved components that were in good shape instead of padding the bill with extra stuff; and (b) proactively improved the ease of two of our finicky, poorly-done original gates and doors without being asked -- and without charging extra! Now opening our secure doorways is a joy, and I no longer need to schlep around like 5,000 house keys. Hooray!! read more

This company's perfect score is well-deserved, in my opinion. When we recently needed same-day lock service, Jerry was quick to respond. He fit us into his busy schedule and came at the agreed to time. AS before, he worked diligently to solve our door problem. We would not go to any other company in Washington for any future lock needs! read more

Pleasant on the phone, super quick response, same day lock service and reasonably priced.

Steve of New District Lock & Hardware is amazing. He rekeyed 19 locks, did so locks on some doors could work with the same key thus reducing the number of keys I carry around, explains what he can do and is doing and the fees for various options well. The fees are reasonable/fair. I had him make a few sets of keys for the rekeyed locks - all of the keys work. I have used a few locksmiths over the years; Steve is the best locksmith with whom I have worked. If you need a locksmith, I highly recommend Steve of New District Lock & Hardware. read more

These guys were outstanding! They responded so quickly, were very efficient and highly experienced. They repaired a lock that I was told by a different company needed to be completely replaced and rekeyed a lock multiple companies could not, all for a very reasonable price. Could not be more happy with my experience! Highly recommend! read more

Steve is phenomenal! He was able to help us in a super timely fashion. His work was excellent, thorough and professional. It's great to work with folks who are not only kind, friendly and knowledgeable, but who also clearly have fun and care about their work. Highly recommend! read more

Quick. Fairly priced (at least for DC). Great, knowledgeable advice. Saved their number and will definitely use them again in the future. I've sadly been locked out several times and these guys are the best and most pleasant to work with. read more

Lock and knob on a door on 100 year old house fixed! previous locksmiths said I had to replace the whole door or get a $1000 new lock and door know. District Lock & Hardware knew exactly what to do, great problem solving, replaced it for much much much less and it doesn't jiggle and the key doesn't get stuck anymore. Great service and highly recommend. read more

Jerry was fantastic - worked quickly, explained everything that he was doing, gave me some good tips, and went out of his way to fix a couple of problems from an old installation. Highly recommend! read more

Superstars to the rescue! We felt so happy and secure with their fast response rate, professional support and great customer care! Bravo!

Came when they said they would, fixed what we asked them to, and charged a reasonable price. Cant ask for more than that!

They were pleasant on the phone, came fast and provided great service. I'm pretty happy with them.

Couldn't be happier. My deadbolt was acting up and I called these guys -- came out within a few hours to fix my front door lock. He was very honest, transparent, and clear about what fixes were necessary. He let me know exactly what what he was doing and what was needed. The tech was done within 15-20 minutes. I believe they've been in business for over two decades, and it's no wonder! Dependable, trustworthy, fast. read more

This guy was fast, friendly, knowledgeable and affordable. 10/10 recommend! Super responsive and came within 20 min.

Was willing to talk be through unlocking a door myself. Really nice and asked to know the result once I found the tool I needed. Helpful and saved me a buck read more

John helped with a niche lock situation when several other highly rated locksmiths wouldnt or couldn't. Would give six stars if I could

A little miscommunication between the dispatcher and locksmith on our time frame but the locksmith was apologetic and came, rekeyed our locks quickly and with a fair price. read more

Needed to get locks re-keyed and a little adjustment to the locks to have them line up at our condo. Was able to book an appointment for the following day easily. Jerry came out and took care of everything, quick and painless. No complaints about the service and cost, in my view, was reasonable. read more

Jerry is amazing - his customer service and commitment is unparalleled.

I apologize for just swearing at whoever I was talking to on the phone but I am literally locked inside my house and very frustrated. We had the New District Lock and Hardware people - Jerry - come out and put a new lock on our front door the week we moved in. For some reason that locked failed after several weeks and we called New District Lock back. They came out and said we needed a better lock which they installed and we paid for. This new lock just failed after less than a month! The key will not turn in the door either from the inside or the outside. I called New District Lock and they said they had no one available until tomorrow. We don't have any other access to our house other than the back door and then to climb over an 7 foot fence. We have called an emergency locksmith but will never use The New District Lock & Hardware again. Use them at your own risk! read more

The new District Lock and Hardware is a great company and I would highly recommend them! They we're easy to schedule with, timely and called when in route. They were very knowledgeable and fixed our locks efficiently. They are reasonable and explained everything very thoroughly. I would highly recommend this company for any of your lock needs. read more

When we first moved into our house on Capitol Hill in 2016, John came out and got our whole house rekeyed for us. Responsive, professional, fantastic work. We didn't need a locksmith again until just today, when after a three day search I had finally given up looking for my presumed-lost house keys. I called, Steve answered right away and said John was in the area and could come by. Of course, no sooner had I spoken to them on the phone, the keys turned up. So if nothing else, give them a call because they have the magic power to help you locate your keys! We still had John swing by anyway because we were considering switching to a smart lock and he walked us through all of the process and helped us order the hardware we'd need. He was at our house within an hour of when I'd placed my initial call. I know when he comes back to install it's going to be great. Strongly recommend! read more

I locked my bike up outside the house, in two days of being outside, the lock wasn't working. John was able to come over, cut the lock, and I am now able to get around again. Great, professional, and timely service. Highly recommend. Thanks! read more

Terrific service from expertise to customer attention to billing. The New District Lock and Hardware is the same great pros as the old District Lock and Hardware and their work remains top notch and fairly priced. read more

5 STARS! Called them after reviewing yelp reviews. Asked them to re-key whole house when we bought a new house--had many outside doors and 2 gates with locks and some inside locks. Also added a deadbolt. Jerry was our guy. Very courteous and trustworthy. Liked how he stamped keys so I knew which was which. Also very knowledgable about locks. Would definitely use again. Something wasn't right with one of the key sets which was discovered 2 years later and Jerry returned and didn't charge me. Would use for all of my key and lock needs. This seems like a small business which I like a lot. They were readily available, friendly, and I assume reasonable price wise-- I didn't shop around, I'm generally frugal and the pricing seemed reasonable for great service. (p.s. think Jerry has a beard now, unlike the profile picture) read more

Called at 9 with an bathroom door that was locked and the lockset broken. John came out at 11:30 and everything was fixed by 1:00 Fast, prompt, and reasonable. Will call them next time we need a locksmith. read more

Jerry came out to rekey the locks in our brand new house and was friendly, professional, and worked really fast! Hopefully, we'll never lock ourselves out or need to change locks but if it happens, I know exactly who to call. read more

So I managed to lock myself out of my apartment...at 8:20am with the stove on while I was hardboiling eggs. That was great. So I kept calling around trying to find a locksmith to get over there before my entire apartment building burned down and all the locksmiths I called were not that sympathetic ("Sorry ma'am, but we're busy, we'll have someone over in about an hour and a half." Great. And I won't have anywhere to live by then so thanks for that). At 9:02 I called District Lock in a panic. The woman on the phone went "OH MY GOD" put me on hold for thirty seconds and comes back on to go "I have someone on a job three blocks away, I've quickly pulled him off it and he's coming right over." At 9:20 the very nice locksmith was there, and by 9:25 I was into my apartment. At which point of course, the eggs had exploded all over my kitchen, and the smoke alarm was going off. But hey, the District Lock guy took it all in stride, helped me open all my windows and wave magazines around until the smoke alarm calmed down. Seriously, they were so nice, so understanding, so helpful and so professional. Cannot recommend them enough. The coda to this story? The locksmith went out of my building to get paperwork, someone locked the outside door behind him, and then he got locked out until I came to let him in. In conclusion, take your keys everywhere. read more

I'm so glad to have these guys in Capitol Hill! The first time I called Jerry came out and re-keyed all of the locks in our new house. The second time I called, John came out and installed a new lock on our back gate and helped with a few miscellaneous issues. Both were very courteous and upfront with pricing. I really appreciated John explaining a few different scenarios for me when it came to fixing a broken spring in an old mortise lock on one of the bedroom doors- basically he explained he could re-make a custom spring ($$$) or just swap the lock ($) with another door in the house that didn't get much use. At the time the service charge was $85. So as soon as they step through your door you are paying at least $85, plus whatever work needs to be done. It's not cheap, but I think the cost is worth it because they do really good work and it's supporting a local small business. read more

Just so I'm not "one of those" type of yelp-ers... Let it be known that John of District Lock came out to my house stat and finished rekeying every lock I needed taken care of before the end of his shift. Stellar workmanship and before you think I don't know decent locksmithery (it's a word now, ok?) I assure you I do because I used to have to utilize a different service in the Baltimore area far more often than I care to admit and I learned plenty from the many errors of my ways. Strangely, not enough to do what John was able to do but that only proves how awesome he is at his job - because I assure you I am awesome at lots of other things (just not locksmithing). read more
