How do I love The Lemon Tree? Let me count the ways... 1. They sell unique gifts that you will not find anywhere else. I have shopped at LT for almost every event (wedding, birthday, graduation, etc) over the last year and the recipients have not been disappointed. 2. Brooke, the owner, does monogramming/embroidery. I have purchased items from her or brought items in for her to monogram. I have not found anyone who does as great of a job, has a quick turnaround time, and is more affordable! Who doesn't love gifts that are personalized?! 3. The LT also has a cafe!!! This cafe is one of the best things to hit WF since I have lived here over the last 6 years. The cafe has homemade strawberry lemonade or mint (depending on the day) and has scrumptious bites such as chicken salad, orzo pasta salads, wraps... my fave: Turkey & Provolone w/Raspberry Honey Mustard on Rosemary Focaccia Bread and their Roasted Red Pepper hummus. YUM YUM!!! 4. The LT is in a building that is 100 years old with noisy hardwood floors and beadboard ceiling.... that's what makes it so charming! 5. The owner, Brooke, takes pride in downtown Wake Forest. She often puts together events that will promote downtown such as the Snowball Crawl in the winter and the upcoming, Midsummer Night Stroll- both of which allow folks to form teams and register to stroll downtown shops with private shopping times for participating businesses and ending at the Twisted Vine where each team can win prizes! Another great spot in Downtown Wake Forest for unique items. I love their homemade scarves and belts, as well as their decorative wine glasses. The best part of the Lemon Tree, in my humble opinion, is the food! They have awesome soups, salads, and sandwiches, and everything is fresh and homemade. Lemon Tree is one of our favorites. Although mostly a lunch spot, the new daily menu and consistent freshness and creativity keep every visit exciting. The Lemon Tree always serves fresh ingredients and healthy food. They specialize in soups, salads, and sandwiches; however, they also have delicious quiches and desert bites (including their famous lemon bars). I have seldom had something there I didn't love. The staff is welcoming and helpful and the environment is cosy, yet comfortable. If getting a hot sandwich, be prepared to wait a little while as they heat it up, but the food is always worth the wait. read more

The only sad thing about this place is that they aren't open more hours! Their decision to connect their eating space with the burger shop is genius and works out well when trying to pick a place that multiple people can enjoy. Second time stopping in here for a quick sandwich and I have to say this place rocks!! First time the staff was super friendly and the sandwich was delicious. This second time prompted me to write this review because I tried the door and it was locked. For a healthy, fresh innovative meal made from local ingredients you can't beat this place. The choices are wonderful, changing daily, and always so fresh you expect to find the garden out back!! Being in a gift shop, Mimosa, the ambience is wonderful and even possible to eat outside on one of the covered tables and enjoy being in downtown historic Wake Forest. Stacy, the owner, takes great pride in what she presents to the customer and it shows. You can't find a better early, late lunch place to eat. Just had a delicious lunch from this restaurant!! I've been going to a salon on the same street for over 3 years & never heard of The Lemon Tree (TLT). Another client in the salon told me about it today. It's tucked away in downtown Wake Forest, and has a bright, airy hometown feeling. The 2 ladies behind the register were very friendly. The food was simple but awesome. I got the spinach & feta quiche with 2 sides - salad with berries, candied almonds & goat cheese and chicken salad. They ran out of chicken salad & I understand since it's so yummy. My meal was light but filling and that's exactly what I need for hot summer days. I will certainly be going back to TLT next week! My husband and I lived about 15 mins from the lemon tree but recently moved. We absolutely love their food! We came here wayyyy to much when we lived close! Every time family visited us from out of state we always brought them here. Everything we have tried was fresh and delicious and healthy. The service is amazing, the friendly ladies are so helpful and they remember your name! Their egg & pimento breakfast sandwich is the BEST breakfast sandwich I have ever had. Their homeade drinks and sweetener syrups are so good. My mouth is watering thinking about their food now! Cute little store that sells handmade products made my local artists. Ya'll know how I love to support our local businesses! And the Cafe! You have to try their food and especially their lemonades! Holy cow. Just pure goodness! Their food is homemade with love and super yummy! I agree with Shannon! Brooke organizes events like the Snowball crawl that allows all the residents a night out, taking turns in each downtown store and ending up at the Twisted Vine for the raffle! This place is admittedly not the kind of retail items I would normally be interested in but I was present with my wife while she browsed looking for some gifts. The selection is diverse, containing many unique items, and the associates are very friendly. My wife loves birds and asked how much a specific item was. The associate remarked that it was really for display and was not intended for sale but quickly stated that she would be willing to sell it if we were truly interested (we ended up purchasing it). We also inquired about the availability of some dog collars and were jokingly told that a shipment should be arriving any moment and would most likely arrive as soon as we left. We also struck up a conversation during checkout and were informed that once permits were obtained that hopefully construction on a small cafe would begin soon. The cafe would include prepared items such as sandwiches, drinks, and more importantly lemon bars and lemonade. There is also a hallway allowing you to walk through from this store to Sprig. After making our purchase we headed into Sprig and the associate followed us in about 5 minutes later laughing and informing us that the dog collars had indeed arrived. My wife went back and made a selection for our older dog. All in all a quaint store with a nice selection and friendly staff. I just recently discovered this place on Yelp and decided to try it out for the first time today. I was really impressed and enjoyed it very much. As others have commented, it's a little place in the back of a clothing boutique. I didn't even see a sign outside for it but had to just look at the address and the address on the boutique. The menu is very small with only a couple of sandwiches but a good selection of sides. The price was fairly reasonable I thought. I went with the Combo Special which was a sandwich (or you could have gotten a half wrap) with two sides, a drink, and small dessert bite. I had the grilled chicken spinach artichoke sandwich, with mixed greens, goat cherries, berry salad, and the basil pesto chicken salad. All were extremely tasty and fresh. I felt satisfied after. I also got it as takeout. There were a good number of people eating there and it seemed to have a nice feel. The staff were also very friendly. Finally made it to The Lemon Tree... I like the concept of a small changing menu. It allows them to focus on awesome fresh food - at a great price. They seem to have a few staple brunch menu items as well - like quiche. I had the veggie and it was very yummy. I also had the pesto orzo, and the kale salad with walnuts, cranberries, and feta. Unfortunately, when I moved from Wake Forest, I never seemed to be close during lunch hours. Today, I made a special trip from west Raleigh for lunch today. Boy! Was it worth it! This restaurant is located within a very historical looking part of wake forest. The place is surrounded by many antique shops and artistic cafe's. It's really nice with strong hipster vibes. Little steps lead up to the tiny restaurant. As soon as I walked in, I could see that the interior was very dainty and cute. Here, I was able to try the Stacey's special. My order consisted of beet salad, kale salad, and a warm sand which. I also decided to sip on some of their fresh squeezed lemonade--which was so refreshing and perfectly tart. The food had great flavors and nothing was too salty and or too sweet. The meal left me feeling light but satisfied. During our wait, we even got to check out the little boutique that is part of The Lemon Tree. Looking at their menu, I found that they also sold pre-prepared meals for special events as well as baked loaves of bread. Excellent! We were looking for something light and healthy after a couple of travel days not eating the best and happened upon The Lemon Tree and love it! Really did not know what to expect from the quaint looks of it but was beyond surprised and will be back. The Kale side salad, with blueberries and strawberries, was so good that I could see ordering that as a full meal salad on its own. The healthy slider sandwiches are toasted, both sides. We went for a quick lunch today, very spur of the moment, mostly based off of the stellar reviews. We arrived around 2:15 with the understanding that they would be closing at 3:00. We were clearly confused upon arrival and while the woman behind the counter was friendly, she volunteered no helpful information or guidance on ordering. We saw the quiche was gone, so we asked about wraps - and they were also gone. I know they prepare their food daily and coming near closing time comes with some risks, but I feel that the woman working behind the counter could have made this process much easier by simply listing the remaining options. We ordered a whole sandwich that was supposedly available and sat down to wait, only to then have her approach and say they only had a half. We picked another type to get a half of. Both flavors were fine, but that's as much as I'd give them. On top of everything else, they were both heated outside and quite cold inside. Maybe it was just an off day, but I certainly can't see how this place has such high ratings. Nothing was gross or terrible, it just wasn't anywhere near as stellar as the reviews led us to expect. read more

The Lemon Tree may very well be the best kept secret in Wake forest. The service is always top notch and the food is amazing. I just discovered this place a little less that 6 months ago and make it a point to go at least once a week. The Tomato Basil soup is great, the Pimento Cheese is the best I've ever had and the salads are always fresh and delicious. Even the flavored sweet tea's excite the taste buds. If your in the area definately give this place a shot, you will not be dissapointed and your mouth will thank you! read more
