Ordering is done at the counter, and you are given a number, and it is brought out to you. The Lemon Tree has sandwiches, salads and soups to order. The menu changes weekly. You can order a sandwich, two sides, a beverage and a dessert for a good price. I went with the egg salad sandwich and selected two sides, my limeade and a brownie, all for $11. The egg salad was delicious, as were my sides of basil, tomato and cucumber and the berry salad. I liked that the Lemon Tree offers fresh and healthier options than other places. I came in a few days ago with both kids before heading to the pool. We got a ham and cheese croissant, and a grilled cheese kids meal. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and kind. When my son said the lemonade wasn't sweet enough she added some more simple syrup to sweeten it. I got the pimento grilled cheese and dill potato salad. It was all delicious and I'm patiently waiting for a chance to go back. It was amazing. They've moved and merged with page 158 so it's a quaint little space and a book club was going on in the space. Stopped in for the knotty sheep and grabbed an enticing bite. Only purchased from the prepared case and I'll say the items were fresh and light but a tad bland for my taste. The lemon tree is inside a book store with a yarn store adjacent (in same space). This would make an excellent hang out, meet with friends/family and kill some time space. The service was great. It's so easy to call The Lemon Tree charming, a gem, small town friendly - and all those things would be true. But let's talk taste - it's so good. I frequent many of the historic Wake Forest businesses but this was my first, very delayed, visit to Lemon Tree. As you walk in there's a nice open seating area that's shared with the Burger Shoppe. There are numerous lunch specials on a large chalkboard wall. I got two sliders with a choice of two sides. The pimento cheese slider was simple, gooey, crunchy deliciousness. The chicken enchilada slider sounds like something they'd serve at Chili's (no disrespect to Chili's) but it was also very good, simple with chicken tasting as described. My two sides were Italian orzo pasta and cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was refreshing, but on the bland side. The orzo was super tasty, with a little kick to it. They give you quite a generous portion for a side. They include choice of lemonade, iced tea or fruit infused water. All this was around $9.95. Great deal I think! The show stopper was the extremely adorable dessert bite included with the meal. A couple choices were lemon bar and cinnamon brownie. Since I was with my ever self sacrificing mother this day, I got to try both (thanks momma)! Oh wow...oh my goodness wow to both. Such amazing flavor, such perfection! A good friend treated me to lunch here today and wow, what a great local place! I loved the simple, but very cheery decor and the two ladies working today were so very friendly (one was Heather). We ordered a salad (for my friend) and a petite for me. I chose the mushroom quiche with kale Parmesan salad and marinated tomatoes and cucumbers. The kale salad was so good! Tomato and cucumber salad was marinated but not in a sugary sweet dressing, which is how I used to make mine, but I appreciated their dressing. Onto the quiche, it was just pretty good, but I think next visit, I'll try something else. The service was great, staff was very friendly and checked on us - refilled my unsweetened tea three times! Food was good but takes about 20 min if you order off the menu as they were prepping for big catering orders as I was told a few times. When asked for the wifi password while I waited for my lunch the staff said the password is not given out despite it listing that there is free Wi-Fi. When you first walk in, you may not know that it's even there. But once you get passed the cafeteria like setting and order your food, you'll be glad you did. I left this restaurant hungry for the second time. I should've learned the first time not to go back. They do not have gluten-free bread. Their main menu is sandwiches but I could not get a sandwich. I ordered broccoli salad, which was delicious and chili, which was not hardy at all. I could've also ordered chicken salad and there might've been potato salad but that's it. That's all I could eat at their restaurant. Some of us do not have celiac disease. Some of us are sensitive to gluten. Gluten causes sinus issues in many people. I'm one of them. I love The Lemon Tree! I live in New York, but I come to Raleigh several times a year to see family, and this place is always on my must-do list. They have so many special options that could meet your particular wants/needs for the day. Yesterday I got the two slider option with two pimiento cheese sliders on pretzel rolls, and it really hit the spot. As my two sides I got the berry salad, which was fresh and delicious, and the bean and corn salad, which had a little bit too much cilantro for my taste, but that's a personal thing. For dessert, I had a delicious toffee brownie bite that I had to use all of my willpower not to snarf in one breath. The two young people behind the counter ( a guy and a girl) were super-sweet and friendly. A rather... difficult... patron came in and gave them quite a hassle (not mean, just needy), and all they did was smile and apologize and tried to accommodate. I made point of watching them as she walked out, because I know I would have gone mental with my coworkers once she left (when I was their age, anyway), and all they did was smile and move on. So kudos to whoever was working 8/12/19 at around 2 or so! I'm leaving Raleigh on the 23rd, and I hope to get one more visit in before I leave! read more

Think all lemons are tart? Think again! Stopped by to check out the newest retail store in DT WF this past weekend. I entered and was greeted by two friendly associates who were working to get some new merchandise up in the windows. I took my time to browse all of their merchandise and take it all in. This new store has a wide assortment of home decor items, jewelry, candles, lotions, purses, lamps, pottery, frames, and embroidery items. Everything was modern with a unique twist and I found the perfect gift for my baby sister's upcoming b-day. Their lamps are fantastic, and I have one I am seriously considering for my bedroom make-over. They say they will have a cafe in the spring that will have light food and drinks. First of all, I love that it's located in the back of a little clothing boutique, so charming. I've had the Lemon Tree bookmarked for months and I wish I would've tried it much sooner because it's delicious! I tend to go a little overboard when I'm introduced to a new restaurant, I want to try everything! After grilling the poor girl working, I finally settled on the grilled spinach artichoke chicken sammy, sweet potato curry Apple soup, and dill potato salad for my entree with pomegranate iced tea. Then I had to have a taste of that famous lemon bar and the fresh brownies that just came out of the oven. Yummmm! They have a few tables for outdoor seating and about four inside. We sat inside at a table that had chalkboard paint on it. My daughter got a kick out of drawing on the table. They kindly provided us with some chalk. The food was really good. I got the turkey, Brie and apple slider which was to die for. I wish I had ordered more than 1. Their salad was great and the Greek pasta was also tasteful. I have shopped at LT for almost every event (wedding, birthday, graduation, etc) over the last year and the recipients have not been disappointed. 2. Brooke, the owner, does monogramming/embroidery. I have purchased items from her or brought items in for her to monogram. I have not found anyone who does as great of a job, has a quick turnaround time, and is more affordable! Who doesn't love gifts that are personalized?! 3. The LT also has a cafe!!! This cafe is one of the best things to hit WF since I have lived here over the last 6 years. The cafe has homemade strawberry lemonade or mint (depending on the day) and has scrumptious bites such as chicken salad, orzo pasta salads, wraps... my fave: Turkey & Provolone w/Raspberry Honey Mustard on Rosemary Focaccia Bread and their Roasted Red Pepper hummus. YUM YUM!!! 4. The LT is in a building that is 100 years old with noisy hardwood floors and beadboard ceiling.... that's what makes it so charming! 5. The owner, Brooke, takes pride in downtown Wake Forest. She often puts together events that will promote downtown such as the Snowball Crawl in the winter and the upcoming, Midsummer Night Stroll- both of which allow folks to form teams and register to stroll downtown shops with private shopping times for participating businesses and ending at the Twisted Vine where each team can win prizes! She works 5 minutes away so this was the perfect meeting spot! So cute, so many choices! Another great spot in Downtown Wake Forest for unique items. I love their homemade scarves and belts, as well as their decorative wine glasses. The best part of the Lemon Tree, in my humble opinion, is the food! They have awesome soups, salads, and sandwiches, and everything is fresh and homemade.
