I have been enjoying this place since they opened UNTIL NOW. I was very disappointed today when I went in to get an appetizer with my wife and was told I needed to be charged an extra plate fee for sharing. They lost a food sale because of this. It was the principal for me. I will not patronize the business anymore because I think this is a bad way of doing business. They lost the sale of a $17 appetizer over the few dollars plate fee not to mention we would have stayed and purchased more drinks as well. Hope it was worth it for them. read more

Wife and I were there today for mid afternoon lunch. They have added a new tiki hut expansion that is beautiful. Now on a cooler day you will be out of the wind and weather. New tables, chairs and pavers on the floor make this a great upgrade over last year before the hurricanes. The food is very good, atmosphere is great ant the service was great. Got burgers and they took forever to come to the table and we ordered them medium and they came raw. They said they don't have jalapeños but they did have poppers and the island rice had them In it. Burgers also came very greasy and soggy. Waitress never told us her name, we had to hear it from someone that said she would be right with you. Saturday night was the 2nd time having dinner here at a company party. They have a decent sized room to accommodate large groups. The crab cake appetizer was very good. Not a lot of filler and great crab taste. I got the salmon at the suggestion of another guest and was extremely disappointed. Instead of a nice, fresh filet what came out was an overcooked, dry palm-sized piece of fish. I wasn't going to say anything but the other guest felt so bad since she recommended it that she called over the one server - James. Now, prior to this James had been doing a great job! Friendly and accommodating, stayed on top of drink orders etc. When he was told of our disappointment his comment was "well she's already eaten most of it so there's really nothing I can do." Most? James obviously didn't see the size of the salmon that came out on the plate because I ate about 3 bites! Regardless, his entire demeanor was totally different. I was so surprised by how he talked to me that I told him I didn't want him to do a single thing! Needless to say I did not eat my dinner. He came back later and said that he took the meal off the bill. Three of our meals didn't get to the table until long after everyone else was almost finished eating but other than that the service was decent for a party our size. Have been going to this place since it was The Cove . The Cove had excellent food every time I visited and I lived across the street so went often . The Lazy Lizard is hit and miss . Had dinner there yesterday . The service itself was excellent . The crab cake appetizer was ok . Ordered a full rack of ribs and the Bourbon salmon . The Ribs were excellent and meaty and the rack was 2 days worth of ribs . The Salmon however was not so good . 2 small thin pieces of over cooked dry salmon filet with way too much sauce on them. I honestly should have said something . I will go back as do like the atmosphere and outside patio area but will stay away from fish selections as its been more miss then hits with their fish . Really disappointing experience. Went there for lunch during vacation, sat ourselves at a table by the bar as we were told to. One waiter visited the table on one side of us, a different one for the table in the other side. After sitting there 20 minutes with zero staff interaction, we asked the bartender for a menu and to place a drink order. She said it would take a table away from the wait staff and wouldn't serve us. Waited a few more minutes, again asked the bartender just to order drinks. Sat at bar and bartender Shayla greeted us warmly right away and introduced herself and her fellow bartender. Ordered pulled pork sandwich and coconut shrimp which came out quickly in about 10 minutes. I've seen some negative reviews about the food and service here,but I just don't understand that. When we first walked in no one was in the restaurant, they were all outside, so we had our pick of seats. We found a booth and waited for our menus. We were given our menu and said the server would be with us soon. Server came, no introduction, just a rude what can I get you to drink, we order and off she went. We figured they were busy since it took 17 minutes for her to come back. We order an appetizer and two burgers(who could mess up a burger) The place was not dirty. Just in process of updating. Appetizer zucchini fries were excellent not real crispy, cooked perfect. The burgers, well... we asked for medium and they were more rare than medium. Waitress did offer to throw back on grill, however I already cut it and was eating it. The burger was greasy with no flavor. Since I don't cook with salt I can tell if placed use well this burger had no seasoning at all. I stopped eating and was talking to my companion and waitress came over and took my plate. Which I thought was rude since I wasn't done. But she put the other plate on top therefore I did not ask for it back. I understand being busy and under staff you still need customer service skills. My parents, boyfriend, and I use to go here all the time when it was The Cove. My parents stopped coming because they took away the Bar Menu. My dad loved the grouper sandwich for $6. My boyfriend and I continued to go there because of Sarah and Kim. However I am rating it a 3 because the music is now geared to older people. We love life music that gets you dancing, not just sit around and want to leave after 1 drink. We won't be coming back unless we check the music first. We like newer country, and rock. As long as George Mac and singers like that are scheduled we will go elsewhere. read more
