    English breakfast with bacon
    Nick G.

Came here for their breakfast and it was very okay. Nothing spectacular as it is hotel food to say the least. Based on the reviews I thought it would be better. We had breakfast here on a Thursday morning. Hotel guest are seated in the nice patio area or wherever they choose. Non hotel guest like our selves were seated in this dark dinning area. Our waiter was very kind but the service was lacking. She was managing about 10 tables by her self so we rarely saw her. Never got any water or asked for a refill on our coffee or beverages. I dont blame Her as she was busy but whoever is in charge of staffing needs to fix this. You have about 8 people running food from the kitchen and only 1 waiter taking care of everyone makes no sense. Overall if I was lazy and didn't want to go far for breakfast I would come here otherwise it's nothing special. We ordered an English breakfast, the vegetarian English breakfast and the bacon bap.

Highly suggest going to The Lampery! The food and drinks were delicious and the staff was amazing as well. My friend and I are on vacation from California and we decided to go here for dinner. For drinks we got the White Lady and a Gin and Tonic. For dinner we started with the wonderful potato leek soup and I had the Lampery Pye for my entree. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great as well. This place would be great to grab a drink with your girls or go on a nice date with your partner.

55 minute wait for a cocktail?
    Laura N.

There is something off about this place. The atmosphere is charming, the food is fine, but the service is... perplexing. I stopped in for dinner on a quiet Thursday night, and the restaurant was mostly empty. If anything it felt overstaffed. I ordered the courgette fritter, the scallops (which the chef did not want to serve, so I replaced with the steak tartare) and the Banker cocktail. About 25 minutes later, my food had arrived but still no cocktail. Three waiters later, I received an apology - they said there was a large table ahead of me so they were backed up at the bar. This took me by surprise, I was sitting next to the bar - the bartender did not seem particularly active and the restaurant was practically empty. But ok. They were nice, offered me a glass of wine in the meantime and said they would bring my cocktail "as soon as it was ready". After 55 minutes, I had long finished my wine and my meal (ok, nothing special) but still no cocktail. I sought the waiters' attention to ask for the check, and finally - surprise! - my cocktail arrived alongside a comped dessert, which consisted of two beautifully plated, still-frozen macarons. As I said, perplexing. What were all these waiters - and two bartenders - doing for 55 minutes?

Visiting from the US. There's so little yelpers in the UK! Having a hard time finding places to eat that are reviewed. This place is ridiculously cute-greenery on the ceiling, green and blue sofas and just super fancy but not in a stuffy way. This restaurant/bar is inside the APEX hotel-it was very empty at 7pm on a Thursday night. Service is attentive without judgement. I got a cup of English tea (which comes with your own pot worth like four cups, milk, and side of sugar cubes- but then again I think if you get tea anywhere you'll get this but I'm from America so I was excited to pour my own cup) and poached pear pudding as dessert! My husband got scallops (on the appetizer) and beer. Loveeee the tea (it must be true what they say about Americans not knowing how to brew tea). Love that it comes with milk. Milk makes it taste so creamy. Poached pear came with this cinnamon swirl and cottled cream (basically whipped cream that is very dense and eggy). Delicious but quite expensive for dessert (7 euros) I love the atmosphere of this place- waiter did not ask me if I want still or sparkling- (which I appreciate bc I hate paying for water and always want tap) he just kind of offered me tap to begin with! Def recommend this place for a nice quiet dinner. (Looks like it's great for groups too very spacious booths in the back)

    Egg benedict
    Kevin B.

These egg benedict were outstanding good. The hollandese sauce just give it the flavor and the salmon inside the Benedicts. The Pastries at the buffers are amazing delicious and good. But the only problem I got was that the close breakfast early around 10:30 and we ate breakfast at that time. The waiter was nice and everything but he told us to come a little earlier but were served breakfast. But I wish they would keep it until 12:00 or 11:30 but anyways good service for breakfast and definitely recommend eating here for breakfast if you're in London travelling

A smartly decorated bar and restaurant at the Apex City hotel, though dimly lit. Service was good and the pea risotto was excellent in fact one of the best I've had.

The food here is just impeccable. Every aspect of every dish, from looks to taste is pure perfection. It can get pretty pricy with the cocktails, but that's to be expected with a hotel in London. The average cocktail price is £12. My first night eating here cost €168.83 ($212.25 USD). However if you book your table with Disco Eat (discoeat.co.uk), you can save 40% off your bill... I don't know why I didn't do it, as I read it on here before I went ... would have saved me €67.53 ($84.9 USD) I had these dishes so far and everything has been perfection.. very rarely do you see a dish look like a work of art as they are and taste just as delicious with the right combination of flavor to not overwhelm and not underwhelm. Appetizers Courgette fritter, avocado purée, micro rocket, beetroot mayonnaise (v) £10 Quinoa salad, braised red cabbage purée, baby vegetables & pomegranate (v) (gf) £8 Burrata, sundried tomato pesto, pistachio crumb (v) (gf) £10 Baby beetroot salad, red grapes & horseradish cream (v) (gf) £11 Main Dish Fillet of teriyaki salmon, fennel purée, grilled pak choi £23 Roasted aubergine, feta cheese, fregola, tomato, balsamic (v) £16 Dessert Lemon tart, raspberry sorbet (v) £8 Chocolate orange pyramid, mint ice cream (v) £8 Vanilla, strawberry & white chocolate cheesecake (v) £8 From the bar menu I had the The Lampery fish & chips, haddock, crushed minted peas, chips & house tartare sauce £16. It was was perfection as well... the fish was just like the way I like it and the peas was extremely fresh. Only negative is the batter went flat very fast. As in the lost it's crispiness 5 minutes after the dish was bright out.

We had a party of 13 so I understand there would be somewhat of a wait and that the whole Dining experience might take a while. We dined on a Tuesday night and the place was quite busy! It took at least 30 minutes from sitting down to get our drinks and another 10 on top of that for them to bring out some bottles of water. It seemed like our server was training someone new. They could have been more efficient, but it took a long time for them both to go around the table and enter in our orders. We were at a work after hours function so we all ordered from the 3 courses for 45 quid option. All of the starters sounded good, but I was slightly disappointed in the drunken dumplings as there were only 2, but the presentation was cool with them pouring the broth into the bowl at the table. I wish I had ordered the cheddar and shrimp toasties as they looked quite good! This place has awesome & fun cocktails, hence the Alchemist name. I didn't realize this at first so ordered a Mai Tai which was not nearly as exciting as some of what my colleagues ordered. Second time around I ordered the red zombie which came out smoking with a test tube vial of absinthe to add in! Definitely cool, but also a bit strong. I had the ribeye steak for my main. It was delicious! The cauliflower and potatoes very good too. Had the next level chocolate brownie for dessert. My only thought is it could have used a bigger scoop of ice cream compared to the size of the brownie but it was delicious! So good, in fact, that I had to finish every last crumb. The ambiance was nice. The bathroom was clean, but a little hard to locate. All in all, I would definitely come back if in the area again.

At the time, we did not know it was a chain, but in any case it was unimpressive. It was not terrible but it was not very good, ultimately just ok. The place had some nice decor elements but seemed very much like an loud party place for drinkers who don't really know about drinks but want to seem sophisticated and have fun. I had the seasonal Fairytale of New York, which was the best of the lot, in part because it had no juice or other mixers like that. I often go with drinks along that line if I don't know the place. I then had the Scotch Mist, which was not as good. But it had grenadine, pineapple, and citrus, so there as the problem: it had too much of those and not enough of the Scotches. My wife had the Flyaway, tequila-based, and found it ok but too watery, juicy, and weak. Again, it had juices in it. Our daughter had a dirty martini which was not good. It had kalamata olives, which we took to be an attempt to seem fancy or avant garde, but which simply didn't work in a martini. This was not terrible but basically just an ok,somewhat crass cocktail place for people who want to seem sophisticated and "have fun" with loud music, etc., but don't really know anything about drinks. I can see this filling the role for people like that, but I would never go here again.

The music was so loud I could barely think - my ears are still ringing today. I wish they had turned it down a little bit because it was really overbearing. The overall bar is nice but a little bit cramped. There was limited seating at the bar and only a few tables that were all occupied once I got there. The bartender was nice.
