This restaurant was located across the street from our hotel. While sightseeing by foot, we walked by many times, but decided to give it a try for brunch/lunch on this particular day. The food was tasty. The service was fair. The ambiance was inviting and aesthetically pleasing. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated almost immediately upon entering the restaurant. The overall ambiance and decor was very pretty. After a short wait, the waiter brought us some water and took our orders. I drank the water pretty quickly, but the glass was never refilled, which was interesting. It was a good thing that our hotel was just across the street to get something else to drink. The food took awhile to arrive, but I guess it was somewhat worth the wait. I ordered the veggie burger along with sweet potato fries. The meal actually came with regular fries, but I substituted them for the earlier mentioned side. The veggie burger was pretty good. It had a pretty solid outer texture; however, the interior was a little mushy for my preference. While the mushiness did not detract from the flavor, it was the texture that made it a little off-putting. Our ferry dropped us off at the Tower of London, and I really wanted to have fish and chips. Searched on Yelp, and this was the closest place. As we walked over, we passed by many people dressed in business attire. That area must be popular for after work happy hour. There were several in the Lampery as well, sitting and vaping at their open-air restaurant. The huge screen had a futbol game on. We sat down and waited for a server. It took a long time before the ONE server (there were at least ten tables full) came to us. He was really nice, and I knew he was working hard, but they needed someone else to help. There was a LOT of waiting time. HAM CROQUETTES had a perfect crunch, and I thought they were good. My hubby said they were just alright. The table bread was for my child, but it wasn't the kind he expected. I liked that they were nice and warm. From the children's menu, my kid got a cheeseburger and fries. My husband and I had the fish and fries. We both liked our humongous fried fish. The fries were crispy but tasted bland to me. I guess we had to add our own salt to it cause the ketchup didn't help. No water refill was given, and it took forever just to get our check. The other two workers just avoided talking to people. I tried to wave one down to ask for water, but she never even looked at me or acknowledged she heard me: she just picked up plates of empty tables and walked away. I guess if you're there to just chill and hang out, this may be a good place. You'll never feel rushed. read more

Visited based on yelp reviews and promise of British cuisine. Nice atmosphere but service was lacking as it took far too long to receive our one dish. My largest complaint was with my bill which included a charge for an eggplant side dish that was supposed to be included per our waiter. The food was ok but I do not recommend. read more

My wife and I had dinner at the Lampery near Tower Hill in London. We started with a swordfish cevice that was absolutely amazing. For the main course I had the ribeye while my wife had the spatchcock chicken. Jordan was our waitress and is simply one of the most amazing people we interacted with in the city. Jordan was charming, polite, and took very good care of us. The chicken and steak were great, the steak was very well prepared albeit a thinner cut of meat than I would have liked. The restaurant is located in a hotel so the ambiance is slightly commercial but still maintains a good vibe. I would recommend this for a nice meal if visiting the Tower Hill area of London. read more

Came here for their breakfast and it was very okay. Nothing spectacular as it is hotel food to say the least. Based on the reviews I thought it would be better. We had breakfast here on a Thursday morning. Hotel guest are seated in the nice patio area or wherever they choose. Non hotel guest like our selves were seated in this dark dinning area. Our waiter was very kind but the service was lacking. She was managing about 10 tables by her self so we rarely saw her. Never got any water or asked for a refill on our coffee or beverages. I dont blame Her as she was busy but whoever is in charge of staffing needs to fix this. You have about 8 people running food from the kitchen and only 1 waiter taking care of everyone makes no sense. Overall if I was lazy and didn't want to go far for breakfast I would come here otherwise it's nothing special. Good solid spot. We had the mango, shrimp salad, the beet root salad, triple fried chips, tomato salad, mushroom pate (spread?), and I had the octopus entree. Everything was executed really well. While the salads were simple, the greens were really nice and perfectly dressed. I especially enjoyed the mushroom spread. That had great flavor. I also thought the octopus was very good. Highly suggest going to The Lampery! The food and drinks were delicious and the staff was amazing as well. My friend and I are on vacation from California and we decided to go here for dinner. For drinks we got the White Lady and a Gin and Tonic. For dinner we started with the wonderful potato leek soup and I had the Lampery Pye for my entree. There is something off about this place. The atmosphere is charming, the food is fine, but the service is... perplexing. I stopped in for dinner on a quiet Thursday night, and the restaurant was mostly empty. If anything it felt overstaffed. I ordered the courgette fritter, the scallops (which the chef did not want to serve, so I replaced with the steak tartare) and the Banker cocktail. About 25 minutes later, my food had arrived but still no cocktail. Three waiters later, I received an apology - they said there was a large table ahead of me so they were backed up at the bar. This took me by surprise, I was sitting next to the bar - the bartender did not seem particularly active and the restaurant was practically empty. But ok. They were nice, offered me a glass of wine in the meantime and said they would bring my cocktail "as soon as it was ready". After 55 minutes, I had long finished my wine and my meal (ok, nothing special) but still no cocktail. I sought the waiters' attention to ask for the check, and finally - surprise! - my cocktail arrived alongside a comped dessert, which consisted of two beautifully plated, still-frozen macarons. Visiting from the US. There's so little yelpers in the UK! Having a hard time finding places to eat that are reviewed. This place is ridiculously cute-greenery on the ceiling, green and blue sofas and just super fancy but not in a stuffy way. This restaurant/bar is inside the APEX hotel-it was very empty at 7pm on a Thursday night. Service is attentive without judgement. I got a cup of English tea (which comes with your own pot worth like four cups, milk,and side of sugar cubes- but then again I think if you get tea anywhere you'll get this but I'm from America so I was excited to pour my own cup) and poached pear pudding as dessert! My husband got scallops (on the appetizer) and beer. Loveeee the tea (it must be true what they say about Americans not knowing how to brew tea). Love that it comes with milk. Milk makes it taste so creamy. Poached pear came with this cinnamon swirl and cottled cream (basically whipped cream that is very dense and eggy). Delicious but quite expensive for dessert (7 euros) I love the atmosphere of this place- waiter did not ask me if I want still or sparkling- (which I appreciate bc I hate paying for water and always want tap) he just kind of offered me tap to begin with! Came here this morning for breakfast. Good selection. I ordered one of the full breakfasts with blood pudding. I tried to make a minor change to my order to add in one thing for another...waitress wouldn't let me. So be it. After about 25 minutes my food came out. The eggs were cold. Impressively cold. Like five degrees colder than room temperature. I'm literally not sure how this is possible. The pudding was room temperature. Apparently they didn't have time to put it in the refrigerator after they cooked it, like they did the eggs. The toast with avocado was good. As I was finishing up, a friend came over and ordered coffee. And waited. Then I ordered him coffee. And we waited. Then he ordered it again. Two different waitresses, three orders, fifteen minutes, zero coffee. Not a great experience. Came back later for drinks. Only two beers on tap. Impressively, they brought the wrong one. In fact, they brought the wrong order for all three of us. Not great. Overall, a two instead of a one since everything tasted fine but still not impressive by any stretch. read more

There are not a lot of dining options in this neighborhood, and especially not ones that are open late or on weekends. All the same, this place just doesn't seem like a very good value. It's not that it's bad -- everything is nicely cooked -- but the dishes seem uninspired, the portions small, and everything has an extra charge. £5 for water ("still or sparkling", they will ask -- either is £5) or £3 for bread. As others have noted, the service is a bit odd. Not necessarily in a bad way, more like the staff's personalities are on display. A waiter chatted up the young woman dining solo at the table next to mine for close to 15 minutes, but she didn't seem to mind. At dinner there is a secret set menu which you have to ask about. It's an obvious value if you like the options, as the set menu is about the same price as one main. Menus on the website are out of date. read more

These egg benedict were outstanding good. The hollandese sauce just give it the flavor and the salmon inside the Benedicts. The Pastries at the buffers are amazing delicious and good. But the only problem I got was that the close breakfast early around 10:30 and we ate breakfast at that time. The waiter was nice and everything but he told us to come a little earlier but were served breakfast. The food here is just impeccable. Every aspect of every dish, from looks to taste is pure perfection. It can get pretty pricy with the cocktails, but that's to be expected with a hotel in London. The average cocktail price is £12. My first night eating here cost €168.83 ($212.25 USD). However if you book your table with Disco Eat (discoeat.co.uk), you can save 40% off your bill... I don't know why I didn't do it, as I read it on here before I went ... would have saved me €67.53 ($84.9 USD) I had these dishes so far and everything has been perfection.. very rarely do you see a dish look like a work of art as they are and taste just as delicious with the right combination of flavor to not overwhelm and not underwhelm. The Lampery is a nice chill restaurant in the Apex hotel, not far from Tower of London. We came here for breakfast, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The Omelette Arnold Bennett is a great choice, stuffed with smoked haddock, hollandaise and gruyere cheese, and my husband Jason loved his Eggs Florentine, made with a seriously amazing and thick toasted English muffin, topped with spinach, soft poached eggs and hollandaise. The restaurant has a nice window view of the Four Seasons, which looks like it can open up during warm weather. Service was a tad slow, but maybe that's just how it is overseas. Can't complain.
