Cute little coffee shop in the touristy area of historic St. Augustine. I was in desperate need of caffeine and The Kookaburra offered just that. The store front is small, but there is limited seating both in the outdoor patio and in the adjacent room (separate from the coffee counter). I ordered a Diesel Iced Coffee (basically a slightly sweet iced redeye) and for my sister ordered the sweeter and less strong Aussie Iced Coffee. While the Diesel was perfect, the Aussie was a little sweet for me. Definitely a sweeter coffee option for those who like their drinks a little sweeter. Overall, a solid coffee shop amidst a touristy area. My only regret was not getting some coffee beans to go! read more

Despite being quite busy, we were able to get coffees for the four of us very quickly. I had a cappuccino, which was amazing. the piccolo was strong but if you need a quick pick me up, it's perfect. The pastries were really good too. I tried the banana bread which was decent. My family tried the cupcakes. I think with pumpkin and they were very good too. We went to the location in the treasury so there's a separate area for sitting and eating in a separate area of ordering. The location is really good and close to everything in downtown. read more

Hands down the best Australian breakfast pie I've ever had. It's also the only Australian breakfast pie I've ever had but in all seriousness these things were delicious. I was up at the crack of dawn and in need of a quality cup of coffee. At Kookaburra I was treated like a regular! Both baristas were hard working, helpful and kind. I'm not a fan of pies... there's something about the crust I've never really liked but, we were on our way back home, looking at 4 hours of driving, and I needed at least coffee. My boyfriend found this place and thought hey "where there's pie, there's gotta be good coffee" and so we parked and walked to The Kookaburra. I, honestly, wasn't sold yet. Looked at the menu and all they had were pies and more pies, plus some pastries. Being in the mood for eggs I found one crestless pie with eggs, bacon, cheese and (optional) spinach. Sold! I went in and ordered it, in addition to a latte and a banana bread for the road. The lady who helped us was very friendly and was excited to tell us the pies were just delivered so they would be fresh. We also ordered a "corker" which is a pie with crust filled with eggs, sausage and cheese. The pies were heated quickly and brought out to us. They have a second room across from the shop with tables, but we chose to sit outside on their little veranda. It gave a vacation feel to our breakfast, plus there was a nice breeze and people watching is always fun. After taking a bite of both pies, and after saying "I don't like crust" I must say the Corker was my favorite. I mean, they were both good but was surprised the one with the crust would be the one I'd prefer. And the Banana cake was pretty good too. My go to coffee shop while visiting Saint Augustine! The coffee shop is located in the middle of everything making it perfect to swing in while strolling the historic town. I always get a large drip coffee, I know simple and not out of the box at all! When something is so good it's hard to try other things! Next trip I will be trying the Honey Badger as this is what everyone seems to order. They have indoor seating available just outside of where you order. They also have two bistro tables outside that over look the bustling streets of downtown Saint Augustine. This is a very cool place, serving up Aussie hand pies in a few locations throughout St. Augustine. This was on my radar when looking up food ahead of my visit. They sounded really interesting, but the food seemed more of a snack to accompany their coffees, rather than a stand alone meal. But when you have a toddler, "meal" is a really subjective word, and just getting your kid to eat something is the objective of meal time. I had planned on Kookaburra for a snack later in my day, but when my lunch spot closed on me, I called Kookaburra to ask if they still had any pies (I'd read they sell out). I was told they had some, but that they would not disclose what flavors. (???) Look, I understand if you don't want to tell me your inventory lest someone come in and buy a bunch, and then you end up with an annoyed customer who pushed a stroller across town for nothing. But this top secret nondisclosure of pie selection is a little silly. You could just say "We currently have..." and your butt is covered. Sheesh! Made it to Kookaburra before any serious pie shortage, and while meat pies were gone, they had four other options: Viejo (sweet potato, broccoli, egg, cheddar), Crustless (egg, pepper jack, cheddar, bacon, spinach), Country Coconut Curry (veggies in coconut curry), and Thai Chicken (chicken and shredded veggies in a Thai chili sauce). I tried the Thai Chicken Chili and it was great! It was surprisingly flavorful and made of very fine ingredients for your average coffee shop snacks. I'm really glad I stopped. The bonus about this location is that they are located in the old Treasury building, which is Deco-y and very chic! It's super stylish as well as tasty! read more

I stumbled across The Kookaburra and saw that their pies are highly recommended and also read that they sell out fast. As such, I placed an online order the night before to ensure I could get a breakfast pie. At 10:40 am, I arrived for my pickup order and was shocked to find out that there was no pie for me. I was told by the cashier that they had run out... please help me understand-- what is the point of accepting online pre-orders if you're not going to fulfill them?? Why would you give away an order that was already paid for, thereby inconveniencing the customer who has already paid? Not sure why my prepaid for item wasn't set aside, but alas I left without a pie. The place is following covid guidelines which I loved as well. The interior is super cute, and all of the baristas were friendly and fast. I got their soy hot chocolate and it was amazing! I find sometimes that hot chocolate is either too watery or too thick. Their hot chocolate was just the right balance of flavor without becoming too heavy and thick. We decided to stop in for coffee since we were visiting and wanted something other than the standard Starbucks. This is 100 times better than Starbucks. We shared a berry scone and it was Amazing.
