Kookaburra has coffee that tastes like...coffee! Sadly, I live about ten hours away from this gem, but I think Kookaburra is reason enough to go back to St. Augustine. Really. It was that good. I've gotten so used to syrup-forward flavor of the major chains that I forgot what a good latte, iced or hot, tastes like. Small little coffee shop in St. Augustine village. The baristas were friendly and quick to serve! I ordered the Aussie Coffee which was an ice brewed coffee with vanilla and cream. It was good but I honestly didn't love it as much as I thought I would. I think the coffee was just more bitter than I am used to. My mom had the Diesel Coffee which she loved. All I have to say it takes one really bad experience - and this one tops the cake. Stood in line at the Kookaburra 15 minutes - doors open - a boy that works there walked from the back of the line and shut the door in our face with out saying anything - he knew were were waiting - they just locked the door in front of us and when we question them they said there is a sign that says they close at 9pm and we said we were standing in line 15 minutes til 9 and 2nd from the door. They were rude to many people - This was one of our favorites both in the market square and on the island. This experience made us decide to share and hope they figure out what service and communication should be. I would have expected a simple we are closing and we can only accept so many more- but nothing rude and shut in your face. read more

Coffee is solid here. We ordered the: -mocha nut latte ( with oat milk) -iced brew coffee -VEJJO brekkie pie -RASHERS & EGG Trekkie pie The Brekkie pies were alright. They were not my Jam, so it's not something I'd order again. However, it is recommended to try them with a sauce ( we tried a homemade hot sauce, and it gave the pie some hydration and flavor since the we're kind on the bland side for both pies) However I do recommend the coffee! I visit here every time I come to Saint Augustine. The staff is always so friendly and happy to make suggestions. I typically get just black coffee with some cream, and what I really like about their coffee is that it is strong and smooth. There is no acidic or burnt taste like you get at other popular coffee chains. Solid cup of coffee. Their pies and pastries are all excellent, from my experience. I would recommend coming earlier, as the line can get long and fresh baked goods are always better than ones that have sat out all day. The shop itself is small, so you can either eat at their small space outside, or walk directly across the street to the main square in the heart of historic saint augustine. I personally like to take my coffee and stroll down the walkway by the water. Give this local Aussie business a try. It's a good one. read more

Well, the Kookaburra is certainly a most kooky place to stop! I have a couple good friends who are Australian, so when I saw that this place serves Aussie pies I knew I had to go in honor of them. Whenever my friends were stateside, one thing they always raved about was how much they missed their meat pies from back home. It felt like I walked into a part of their world being at the Kookaburra and it made me so happy. We tried the sweet potato and feta pie and I really enjoyed it. If you're a sweet potato fan at all and don't mind savory pies, this one's for you. Also, the vanilla/ cinnamon latte I got to drink was fantastic. They do also have a bathroom, but you have to ask a worker for a key. This is a super cute and convenient stop in downtown St. Augustine and can be the perfect way to beat the heat and take a yummy break for a little bit. I'm not entirely sure just how authentic the Aussie pies here are (if only one of my friends from down unda could have tried), but this American palette sure did enjoy it! read more

I really like this coffee shop. We are from out of town and this is the second location we been too. I've tried 3 of the drinks and all of them have been good. Their coffee has a good balance of bold and acidic. Their cold brew is the best thing to order. I did order the mocha nut to try something new and oh man so yummy haha. If you like sweet drinks I'd recommend that. They also serve pastry's and Aussie pies if you wanted a bite to eat! I did buy a mug I really liked them and a bag to take home. I stopped by for a quick bite. An employee was arguing with a man whom I guess was a customer. What caused it, I really don't know, but the man didn't want his drinks, and the employee didn't want to give him a refund. They asked him to step to the side while she called her manager on the phone (and to take my order). Even though it was close to closing, they still had some hot pies. I ordered the Thai Chicken Chili and the Aussie Iced. The coffee was pretty good, smooth and not bitter. The meat pie was warm and placed in a foil bag. I'm not sure how they were supposed to be eaten, but given the shape, I would think with a utensil of some sort. Sadly, none was provided. So what did I do? Have it like I would any other pasty. By hand. The top crust was nice and flaky with a mild heat. The filling was even better. Steamed broccoli and chicken with a spicy coconut sauce that didn't dribble. In all, it was very good, and I can't believe that I've never tried it in all the times I visited St. Augustine. I'll certainly be back to try their other pies (and even bring my own utensils). read more

Conveniently located in front of the nights of lights, the Kookaburra is a fantastic place to get a hot drink when it's cold outside. The staff are very accommodating and quick with service even though they were very busy, they know we're trying to warm our hands lol. We stopped by at around 10pm on a chilly (for Floridians) December Saturday and thankfully they were still open. The hot chocolate was so good, but that's the only thing we really ordered so I can only speak on that. I did look at the shelves though and it looks like they sell coffee blends and beans. My sister and I were visiting St. Augustine and before the long road to Miami asked around for a good coffee. To my surprise, everybody recommended location of Kookaburra. I didn't expect it and decided to try it! I had regular coffee and my sister has flat white. Coffee was tasty, my sister's drink had a lot of sugar. But I guess she could have mentioned to have it without or maybe the barista could have asked. We also took couple pies. Australian pies in the middle of Florida :) and since it was raining we had a chance to ask about the place. Apparently it was opened by the Aussie lover who spent some time in Australia. Truly, different experience. I am hard to surprise, but here I was. Recommended. The bathroom was out of service (and the staff had little sympathy and no advice for alternative locations). The small side room was less than inspiring - plain with wobbly tables and white walls. I'd never heard of this coffee shop before my visit to St. Augustine, and now I'm wishing they had these in Miami! They serve coffee, sweet treats and Aussie pies (I'd never had Australian food before this!). This place is a no matter what visit for me now and every time that I come up to St. Augustine. The staff here is incredibly friendly and as soon as I walked into the very small location I was greeted by everybody working. They explained the seasonal drinks that they had as well as some of their most famous and most popular selling drinks as well. They have many different things you can think of like coffees and teas as well as a few different pastries that are Australian and heavenly. I decided to get an iced coffee while I was here and let me just say that everything about it was phenomenal. I decided to get the Aussie iced which is iced brewed coffee made with a housemaid vanilla and cream. The prices are pretty good with a 12 oz being $4 and a 16 oz being $4.25. The coffee had an amazing flavor and was not too bitter and with the stuff added in everything Blended together perfectly and I was trying so hard not to inhale the drink because of how amazingly refreshing it was on this hot day. We we're looking for a nice, hot cup of coffee before our walking tour and stopped at Kookaburra. The line was a bit long, but it was worth the wait. I had their Honey Badger Latte and it was absolutely perfect. It has the right amount of sweetness for my taste. My boyfriend tried the Mocha Nut and that one was delicious too. This place is amazing and such a hole in the wall! If you blink while walking you will for sure miss this place! I found this place because of yelp and my fiancé was in the mood for coffee so I looked it up and this place was a couple minutes walking from where we were. He decided to order the honey badger which is a latte with Honey, Cinnamon and Vanilla. I had a couple sips and almost finished it for him because of how amazing it was. The cinnamon was a nice little hint and the honey gave the sweetness to the latte that I did not even know it needed! I got a loose leaf tea and it was also wonderful and steeped perfectly! Prices are pretty reasonable, seeing the fact it is a cute little gourmet style café and it being in St. Augustine where it is very touristy. There are a few locations around St. Augustine but this is right off of St. George street so it is the easiest one you will be able to visit if you are around the area. Staff was super friendly as well and I got my drink very quickly! I will be back every time that I am in the area! (I hope that is often!) read more

While visiting St. Augustine with my wife, we stopped by the Kookaburra for a mid-afternoon coffee break. I tried a hot 10 oz. Honey Badger based on other Yelp reviews, and found it to be quite tasty, although too sweet for my tastes. It's a cafe latte with a heavy dose of cinnamon, honey, and vanilla syrup. I'd try it again, but at half the standard sweetness level. If you're in the mood for a sweet and savory coffee, give it a shot. I also had a sip of my wife's iced Americano, which was strong but smooth. The staff was masked, incredibly friendly, and very happy to answer any questions. The bathroom was clean, too. This location of the Kookaburra is adjacent to what is apparently the oldest public space in the US, and is an outstanding spot to enjoy a coffee or snack outside and people watch. I wish we had one of these in Tampa!!!! The coffee is out of this world delicious!!!!! My husband and I both got the pumpkin spice latte, made with housmade pumpkin purée and I'm ruined. Never will I have a PSL this good again! The barista was very helpful and verified that the pumpkin purée and syrup used for the latte was gluten free (I didn't get sick ). They have alternative milks, too, including oat, almond and coconut. They also had a gluten free vegan pumpkin donut and it was so moist and delicious, definitely pick one up! The inside of this shop is so quaint and inviting and the baristas are so welcoming, I would come here every morning if I could. We walked to this location from our hotel, but there is some street parking that seems limited. There are two tables outside for seating and that is all, so we took our coffees to the park across the street. read more

Customer service was awesome, prices were good, and I really loved all the creative drink flavors offered. I got the honey cinnamon drink, and my husband got the mocha. Both were incredible!
