It's a fairly good three star. Think of a cheap and cheerful greasy spoon, but with energy hikes and a disastrous Brexit costing the UK an extra self inflicted, avoidable £7 billion a year to import food its more cheerful than cheap on balance.
This restaurant place is within the out of town Carnbane Industrial Estate so they've a ready-made customer base from the nearby factories and offices and it was evident to us that the base was loyal.
The service is prompt and courteous. We both had cod and chips at about £8 each. The cod was good and the batter wasn't bad. The chips though are the factory made, industrial pre frozen chips. The sort I smother in Heinz tomato ketchup, vinegar and salt and then leave half on the plate.
We got two cappuccinos that were just about 3 star. The tab was about £20 in total.
We sat at an outside table on decking in warm sun. Would we return - maybe - but it would be for soup. read more
