What a strange day. We had arranged to meet a relation for a near 3 hour lunch. It was our fourth attempt to meet and eat but life kept getting in the way.
We opted for here because the menu is pretty decent, the coffees are darn good, it's quite cosy, parking is hassle free, there's no phone signal and the welcome is always friendly.
It's one of the places we took our friends from California last April and they were mucho impressed.
We all had the same lunch - three open prawn sandwiches - exquisite north east Atlantic cold water prawns on wheaten bread and a cocktail sauce (sadly with no brandy added). There were 2 cappuccinos ordered and I had a flat white.
The craic was mighty as our relation had recently visited China, Singapore, Australia and he regaled us with stories of his six week sojourn, so much so that another round of coffees was needed. He would not return to China.
So what made it strange you might ask - all the while my mind just kept niggling at me as another relative was very ill and we knew the end was near so as we went our separate ways from our long lunch out into a bone chilling minus 3c we had decided to just go home but the niggle niggled.
So we drove to see our ill relative. We were with him 40 minutes when he passed, so peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him. We are sad but glad the niggle niggled. read more
