I chose crab legs and shrimp appetizer. Garlic butter and lemon pepper mixed with medium spice level. Two corns and two potatoes. Waiter wasn't the friendliest. That probably didn't allow to fully enjoy the experience. Asked multiple times for shrimp appetizer as I wanted them prior to main course. Welp, crab legs came out first, so I cancelled the appetizer. They provide scissors, bib, gloves, and plates for your meal. I prefer metal forks, but they don't have any. The "sauce" was lit. Will go again but will try the other location. An attitude from staff is such a turn off. They are pretty pricey with the gratuity. But I love food and will pay for a good meal. read more

The food is ok, however their crawfish freshness is really hit or miss. When they're fresh, they're tasty, but a lot of the time they're not fresh and they taste rotten. The service is horrid, it's the worst that I've ever experienced anywhere. I used to go here every week or so but I'll never go to this location again and genuinely hope that it closes. You'd think that things would be ok for pick-up, but literally every single time they'd been locking the doors way earlier than their closing time and they ignore you while you're outside trying to pick up the food that you've paid for. This place also attracts really shitty clientele, the type who point and laugh at you when you're stuck outside trying to pick up the very expensive food you've paid for. The restaurant actually ran out of spices and their Crazy Cajun sauce was underwhelmingly not seasoned ? I know that might leave some readers questioning what the heck does that mean but Crazy Cajun was in no way "crazy". I really like this place. The food is good. The Pho is soooooo good. I have been there few times I got a mixed feeling with the service. It's 55/45 on the upward trend. Always love their boil. Three flavors to choose from, so far I have tried garlic butter and crazy Cajun, both are awesome! I like garlic butter more personally. And corn and potatoes are MUST haves! They are so great with the seafood boil. I typically get crawfish but others may like mussels or shrimps or go big and get the fresh live lobster or Dungeness crabs. It's hard to figure this place out, and maybe the problem is that the owners haven't figured out what they want to do here. The sign and decor signal this to be a crab shack pseudo Cajun-Creole crawfish crab boil kind of place. It used to be a Vietnamese noodle place. When you sit down they still give you both menus. In the past I've had their noodle soups, they probably still serve up a fairly good pho. I did see a couple of Southeast Asians ordering and maybe enjoying noodle soups. This time I tried the seafood boil, an alleged pound of shrimp, and alleged pound of crab. I ordered one "crazy hot," the other mild, and they both came out Clyde Mylktoast level mild. The seasoning is Old Bay style not particularly Southeast Asian. The shrimp was a little overdone, the crab was pretty good. Both were well short of a pound. You don't need to know why but I know what a pound in a plastic bag feels like. The waiter seemed to imply that each "pound" (the smallest size you can order, you really need to share) would come with a side, but I also got charged for them. The garlic bread was the better choice, the seafood goes well with rice but it's too messy to crack crab legs and then eat rice with utensils (I tried chopsticks and then a fork). The waiter did come out to check up once, which is an improvement over past visits. Service is erratic here, ranging from fair to middlin', an expression I used to hear when I lived in North Carolina. I mention this because there are many restaurants like this along the Southeastern coast, like at Myrtle Beach (which is actually in South Carolina), this food is almost as good as the average crab shack style restaurant down there. Well, the main seafood courses are, though as I said the portions are stingy and the sides choices aren't great. The prices would be good for actual pounds of seafood, but since their portion sizes are short, I'd say it's a bit overpriced. Service ranges from shoddy to acceptable. The seafood is good, I will be back. In the past I've found their Vietnamese rice dishes to actually be better than their noodle dishes, and probably better than the seafood so I'm not exactly sure which I'll be coming back for. read more

Since I moved here in Wisconsin couple years ago I was looking for places and restaurants where I could enjoy and make me feel like I'm home and I found this King Crab Shack. I wish I could give less than one star. Came and ordered the crab cluster boil bag ($20) to go. It's supposed to come with one potato and one corn. I leave with my food and realize they didn't include the corn/potato. At this point I decide to just eat quickly at the restaurant. The server initially tells me the corn/potato don't come with it so I point to the menu and he heads to the back to grab the forgotten food. The food is pretty bad compared to the crab place on Water Street but I've already paid. I ask the server if they have utensils to open the crab legs and he tells me no. I ask if they have a knife and he gets up from the table he's sitting at and appears very annoyed pointing to the sign on the wall which states customers eating in the restaurant are subject to an automatic gratuity. He states that he won't provide the utensils because I originally took the food to go and now I've come back to eat and wasn't charged gratuity. He seems to have forgotten that I did tip him despite taking it to-go AND I only came back to eat there because my meal was missing items. The price wasn't the problem it was the overbearing amount of sickness we got from eating this food, when I made a post about how sick I felt and where I got it from the amount of people who commented to say how bad and sick this place is, is so terrifying. The taste was good, but your health and safety is completely off for this place! You cannot be serving safe regulatory seafood if everyone who eats here gets sick??? I saw someone LAUNCH one of these out of their car window over by the Little Caesar's near Locust street. Unfortunately I was behind them the whole time from the "S***Shack" up until, well, the Little Caesar's near Locust. Some nut job coming out of the aforementioned establishment abruptly cut me off and just so happened to turn onto Oakland when I did. The driver then decided that it would be a marvelously novel idea to CHUCK their (likely $89 worth of seafood) platter at my car. Well, it miraculously missed our car (there goes your NBA career, seafood thrower) and landed by, you guessed it, Little Caesar's. Anyway, I pulled over to see what was thrown at me and that's when I found the tray of seafood. It smelled like something had died, come back to life, and died again, but more painfully this time. Moral of the story: the seafood is anything but fresh and people aren't afraid to use it as an expensive replacement for other general throwing items like a cup of soda or a half eaten burger. My wife and I came into this establishment at 8:15pm on 3/10/19 and was told we could not sit to eat. when we looked it up it said they was opened until 10 pm. My wife really want to try this place out being we are from California and have had boiling crab so we proceeded to order are food and two drinks when the shift lead Adam let us know they had a party of ten walk in and they refused service to them as well. I am a manager for a franchisee and I see a lot of different places and if it say 10 pm then we should be able to enjoy are meal and especially if your paying $100 tab. I stopped by for me first time and had the king crab. It was $29.99 for a pound. They bring it out in a sauce bag and a steam bag over it. Also, they have a bucket where you put the shells, a scissors, a shell cracker, a bib and a pair of gloves. I forgot that king crab has spikes lol; that makes for an interesting time when trying to handle it. The snow crab is slightly cheaper and more convenient. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the king. This place is a huge disppointment. Place is rowdy because the huge group that came in after us. They were noisy and disruptive. But whatever. We came here for the food. We ordered the 1st option for $41. We have eaten at many crawfish/seafood joints but this place is down right nasty. Reasons are why its a 1 star. 1. Crawfish is not fresh. Meat is blacken and harden. 2. Shrimp is not fresh. Meat has powdery taste. 3. Is overcooked. 4. Potatoes comes out in one big piece. They could've cut into smaller size. 5. Corns seems like its from the freezer. Taste bad. 6. Most importantly the flavor is sorely lacking with all this seafood drowning in oil! I'd like to start by saying the crab legs were the best, however, the crawfish were dark, hard and without juice. The shrimp were also bland without taste. All of the seafood with the exception of the crab legs had to be eaten with the sauce. We were also pretty disappointed at the automatic 18% gratuity just for dining in. If you are like me and like spicy food, ORDER YOUR DISH MILD! Ordering it medium or hot is super hot, way beyond spicy! The problem I have with this establishment is the surcharges on everything. Red Potatoes and small pieces of andouille sausage are $.75 each. Our base price for a combo that served 3 people was $65, then add more for the sausage and potatoes we ordered. Oh yea, they actually charged extra for refills on white rice! When a restaurant charges extra for rice because their first portion was too small for a table of three, what can I say. I'm surprised they didn't charge extra for napkins. Your better off visiting red lobster for the price. At least you receive free refills on soda and their quality is always great. read more

By far the best restaurant for shellfish I've been to since I moved to Wisconsin. Great atmosphere and love being able to get shrimp, mussels, clams, crawfish, etc. by the pound. Better not be afraid to get your hands dirty! Can't wait to come back! read more
