Mangos is it's own vibe and it can change depending on when you're in but I've always had a good experience here. The staff are friendly and are good about getting your orders right. I've had tacos a couple of times and they've always been decent. Milwaukee has a lot of taco spots so there's a lot to compare to. We did their bottomless mimosa brunch a few weekends ago and the bartender was as attentive towards the end when it was packed as when we started and it was empty. Decided to try out Mangos Cafe with a couple of my friends. We went during the weekday around 5:30 pm, we did make it to the happy which ends at 6pm, but the bartender/host let us know about the Wings specials. Around this time it is not that busy, but it seemed like around 6:45 ish to 7:30 ish people started to come in and it got busy. All three of us got the wings basket, 6 wings with fries. We all got the same flavor Jamaican Jerk since they suggested that was the go to wing flavor everyone gets. The wings were awesome, along with the sauce! The sauce was no overly powerful, it was sweet, yet a subtle hint of spice. The sauce is definitely worth the try with the wings. The sauce was not thick or thin, it was a medium thickness and was not messy at all to eat which was great. The fries came to us hot, crispy and fresh. The fries were wonderful, golden brown and salted perfectly well. There was no excessive oil in our basket even with the fries being fresh and hot. We all like spicy food, but we were looking for flavor. The wings were not dry at all, which was wonderful. I know that sometimes someone gets a bad batch of dry wings, but all three of our baskets were perfect. They have a limited selection of beer and majority of their cocktails are Rum based, hence their theme and restaurant name. They do have other liquor also, but if you wanted something different from a rum cocktail you can always go to another establishment, I mean you're there for the Rum and food. Hi, This is Dominic the food reviewer. Today I tried Mangos Cafe. It is located at 1682 N. Van Buren St, Milwaukee, WI. 53202. It started in 2010 on 16th and National then they moved to the current location near Brady St. I got to talk to one of the owners, Greg. He said him, and the other owner Frank wanted to open a place that was like a Florida college bar and restaurant, with an interesting twist on tacos. They also own and operate Juana Taco Company and Makk'n'Cheese. Greg told me he started out at Buffalo Wild wings and wanted to make better wings, so they opened their own place. Mangos has also been voted best tacos in Milwaukee twice at Taco fest. The decor is like an island tiki bar with tiki masks decorating the walls. They also have a DJ from 10pm to close. One of the cool things here is that they serve food all the way until bar close, you can pick up, get a delivery or eat in, all the way up to 2AM. They are open 11am-2am (bar close) 7 days a week. They marinate their wings up to 24 hours in Dominican seasoning. To eat, we tried the Triple Sampler which comes with 2 empanadas, half order of Jamaican Curds and a half order of Mango fries. This appetizer was very outstanding I thought. Then, we tried wings with all kinds of different sauces. We tried 2 baskets of Jack Daniels BBQ and Spicy parmesan wings. Then had a basket with Naked wings with the sauce on the side. For the sauces, we had Thai Chili, Caribbean Jerk, Hot and Honey, and their hottest sauce, Angry Chef. I thought the wings were very tender, and I thought the sauces had just the right amount of tang to them. My favorite sauce was the Angry Chef and the Thai Chili. My Dads favorite wings were the spicy parmesan wings. We had so much fun getting to try the Angry Chef sauce. The angry chef was pretty hot but it wasn't too bad, and it was very enjoyable with that nice kick. Next we tried something special. Its not on the menu yet, but it was their authentic taco with Avocado Cream Sauce, and a little Angry Chef hot sauce. I thought my taco was very home-made especially the corn tortilla, and I loved that hot sauce. It was all amazing. My Aunt also had a Tropical Mojito to drink too. I would definitely highly recommend checking this tiki bar and restaurant out because it is very decorative and fun inside, and these are some of the best wings you can have in Milwaukee. Let's just say this, Tacos & Turntables Tuesdays is amazing with an awesome Dj that plays the best Urban and Latin music. They have $2 tacos, appetizers , and margaritas from 5-7 pm. Wing Wednesday is another great night to be there with great deals. The bartender Freddy that is normally there on Tuesday nights is a super cool dude, always down to play a round or 3 of dice. If you can't make it in those night , I urge you to go in to try the mango fries with pulled pork. They cost around $10 and it is enough to feed two people. Trust me you won't regret it! This is a fun bar to go to during the week to listen to good music, eat good food, or watch the game. But make sure you get in early on Tuesday &Wednesday, seating at the bar is very limited! Another tip, they only have street parking and it's usually tough to get a close spot. read more

I would've loved to have given this place a good review. I placed it on Uber eats delivery. I ordered 2 carnitas and a Caribbean taco, those were just alright. It would've helped tremendously if they would have added the sauce that was supposed to come with it. I didn't get sick however my girl had the avacado wrap, now she's been hiccuping for like 20 minutes already and she's already thrown up once. Some of the best customer service I've ever had! We called with a complaint about some missing items on an Uber Eats order. Their manager Isaiah got everything sorted out on their end immediately and sent one of his staff to deliver the food that got missed. Amazing staff and service here! My friend has met some of the people that work here at some other location where they recommended we stop in sometime. We decided to go on a Saturday afternoon as a group and were welcomed in with open arms. The employees my friends had met still remembered them! The fish-bowl drinks were good but pretty sweet tasting. I personally don't really enjoy sweet drinks so I ended up drinking Corona to keep with the beach theme of the bar (haha). First off I have to say I gave it two stars for a reason. Food- 4 stars My friend and I each ordered 6 Thai chili wings and shared the mozzarella sticks and mangos chicken fries. The mozzarella sticks surprised me because I don't typically like wonton wrapper mozzarella sticks but they turned out to be really good. The cheese on top added a little extra to it which made it great! Plus they were 2$ so that was a deal. The wings were crispy and good, nothing extremely special but definitely yummy. Given that both my friend and I are servers ourselves, we tend to be pretty lenient when servers at other restaurants are busy or forget something. When we got there there were two other tables seated--fine we can wait a little bit. After them paying we finally ordered our drinks, which took another 15 minutes to make. when we received them we still hadn't gotten any water, which we asked for twice prior to. While we sipped some of the server's friends showed up so he got them drinks and talked to them. When I noticed him talking to them I noticed he had made extra of my friend and my drinks and was sipping them (Nice). It was obvious considering we had ordered the only blended drinks made within our 2.5 hours. Probably not a good move on his part to be drinking alcohol at 7pm while working. After thirty more minutes of waiting around, we finally ordered. Still at this point we were the only table besides the bar customers, all whom had eaten or were eating (& drinking) and watching the bucks game--so not really much to be taken care of in terms of customers. While we waited 2 more tables came in and sat and more people came to sit at the bar. We got our MOST food a little bit after. The server verified the type of wings my friend ordered and went and told the kitchen (my assumption is he forgot to write the flavor down and had to tell the kitchen since they had already made them). We still had not gotten water at this point. So we asked again! we started eating the food we had been given and about 5 minutes later another worker came in. Around this same time the servers' friends had also gotten their food--ironic considering they had been there for 45 minutes less than we had. At this point I didn't want to keep eating my food without any beverage so I went up to the bar and asked for water. Two minutes later we got it (finally) but my friend still had not received their wings. after about 15-20 minutes with our food the other server came to fill our waters so I told her we still hadn't gotten them so she went in back to grab them. Honestly in her 20 minutes there she had done more than the other server had the entire time. Anyway after about 5 minutes we were done and wanted some boxes so my friend stopped the original server (talking to another set of friends who came in) and asked for some. At this point we finally got our boxes and checks. Overall, They were nice I'll give them that but i shouldn't have asked 5 times and waited an hour for a glass of water. Not sure what the deal was but all I'm saying is I saw dude talking to his friends, eating their food and giving them free things more than I saw him doing anything else. read more

A very cool looking place with very average place. From the outside this place looks more authentic and fun. The inside is very cute and fun as well but the food isn't very food. The veggie tacos have hardly any veggies & are tatertots inside of a flour tortilla. The nachos were decent just tasted like they were a mix of nacho cheese & avocado salad dressing mixed together i know i won't be back here but if you're into mexi American food this may be your beach! (Corona joke lol!) the mixed drinks look pretty good but I'm not a big fan of mixed drinks overall. Definitely more of a bar than a sit down restaurant read more

I usually don't complain when I go out places due to the fact that I am in the service industry myself but this has to be said. A friend and I went to this establishment to get some grub since it wasn't busy and we heard good things, we came and sat at a table and waited about 10 minutes while watching the (server/bartender) taking shots and talking to people at the bar. After that I went up to the bar and asked if we had to order there and our server asked where we were sitting EVEN THOUGH she clearly saw us seat ourselves from JUMP. My friend and I just a few feet away from the bar watched the bartender go from making our drinks back and forth making her friends shots talking it up while our drinks sit and wait for about 7 minutes KEEP IN MIND we have not received water so my friend goes up to the bar ask for water and one bartender literally sends a Snapchat in the process of retrieving our waters. FINALLY we get our drinks we have ordered our food THIS WAS A 30-35 minute ordeal. We wait for our food and all of a sudden we hear the kitchen bell ring which implies our food is done IT RANG 3 times and the bartenders ignored every ring continuously conversing. 15 minutes later we get our food ITS ALL COLD didn't taste good we asked if our starter could get comped due to the experience they only comped HALF of it. Moral of the story is my friend and I were in rage about even having to pay for our food because it was all so awful.
