Mangos is it's own vibe and it can change depending on when you're in but I've always had a good experience here. The staff are friendly and are good about getting your orders right. I've had tacos a couple of times and they've always been decent. Milwaukee has a lot of taco spots so there's a lot to compare to. We did their bottomless mimosa brunch a few weekends ago and the bartender was as attentive towards the end when it was packed as when we started and it was empty. They have a dj that comes in for the brunch and a nice brunch menu!

Decided to try out Mangos Cafe with a couple of my friends. We went during the weekday around 5:30 pm, we did make it to the happy which ends at 6pm, but the bartender/host let us know about the Wings specials. Around this time it is not that busy, but it seemed like around 6:45 ish to 7:30 ish people started to come in and it got busy. All three of us got the wings basket, 6 wings with fries. We all got the same flavor Jamaican Jerk since they suggested that was the go to wing flavor everyone gets. The wings were awesome, along with the sauce! The sauce was no overly powerful, it was sweet, yet a subtle hint of spice. The sauce is definitely worth the try with the wings. The sauce was not thick or thin, it was a medium thickness and was not messy at all to eat which was great. The fries came to us hot, crispy and fresh. The fries were wonderful, golden brown and salted perfectly well. There was no excessive oil in our basket even with the fries being fresh and hot. We all like spicy food, but we were looking for flavor. The wings were not dry at all, which was wonderful. I know that sometimes someone gets a bad batch of dry wings, but all three of our baskets were perfect. They have a limited selection of beer and majority of their cocktails are Rum based, hence their theme and restaurant name. They do have other liquor also, but if you wanted something different from a rum cocktail you can always go to another establishment, I mean you're there for the Rum and food. Overall I would come to Mangos Cafe, when I am craving their wings and their rum cocktails.

Hi, This is Dominic the food reviewer. Today I tried Mangos Cafe. It is located at 1682 N. Van Buren St, Milwaukee, WI. 53202. It started in 2010 on 16th and National then they moved to the current location near Brady St. I got to talk to one of the owners, Greg. He said him, and the other owner Frank wanted to open a place that was like a Florida college bar and restaurant, with an interesting twist on tacos. They also own and operate Juana Taco Company and Makk'n'Cheese. Greg told me he started out at Buffalo Wild wings and wanted to make better wings, so they opened their own place. Mangos has also been voted best tacos in Milwaukee twice at Taco fest. The decor is like an island tiki bar with tiki masks decorating the walls. They also have a DJ from 10pm to close. One of the cool things here is that they serve food all the way until bar close, you can pick up, get a delivery or eat in, all the way up to 2AM. They are open 11am-2am (bar close) 7 days a week. They marinate their wings up to 24 hours in Dominican seasoning. To eat, we tried the Triple Sampler which comes with 2 empanadas, half order of Jamaican Curds and a half order of Mango fries. This appetizer was very outstanding I thought. Then, we tried wings with all kinds of different sauces. We tried 2 baskets of Jack Daniels BBQ and Spicy parmesan wings. Then had a basket with Naked wings with the sauce on the side. For the sauces, we had Thai Chili, Caribbean Jerk, Hot and Honey, and their hottest sauce, Angry Chef. I thought the wings were very tender, and I thought the sauces had just the right amount of tang to them. My favorite sauce was the Angry Chef and the Thai Chili. My Dads favorite wings were the spicy parmesan wings. We had so much fun getting to try the Angry Chef sauce. The angry chef was pretty hot but it wasn't too bad, and it was very enjoyable with that nice kick. Next we tried something special. Its not on the menu yet, but it was their authentic taco with Avocado Cream Sauce, and a little Angry Chef hot sauce. I thought my taco was very home-made especially the corn tortilla, and I loved that hot sauce. It was all amazing. My Aunt also had a Tropical Mojito to drink too. I would definitely highly recommend checking this tiki bar and restaurant out because it is very decorative and fun inside, and these are some of the best wings you can have in Milwaukee. That taco was amazing too.

I loved the concept of District Fore, it was like Topgolf meets arcade meets backyard cookout. They offered many different games, such as a golf simulator, darts, and more. They usually only allow customers to rent out a game room in hour-long increments, but we were able to pay for a half hour of darts because we only had that much time before we had to leave for our event. I really appreciated the hospitality from all the staff during my visit to District Fore! We didn't eat dinner at District Fore, so I only got to try the cheese curds. They were so buttery and crispy, and the cheese pulls rivaled those of the Chili's mozzarella sticks! They were also much bigger in size than other cheese curds I have had during my time in Milwaukee. One order of the cheese curds appetizer was the perfect size to share between the four of us. I would love to see a District Fore Social open in my hometown, because I would definitely love to go back!

Made our experience super easy and perfectly pleasant. Grilled wings Ooh, these were perfectly grilled. Very tasty sauce (hot honey garlic, at Thomas' recommendation) that wasn't overdone or underdone - just the right amount. I usually get my wings naked because so many places go wrong with the amount of sauce (usually just too drenched), but since we were on a timeline tonight, we just ordered without asking for anything else. So glad we did! By the way, not fried wings, so not super crunchy on the outside but still crispy and not at all soggy. And super moist, perfect temp inside. Tap Guinness Perfectly poured with just the right amount of cream on top. Hany is usually an IPA man, and went Guinness this time and did not regret it! Overall, this place is a little bit further away than the new hopping bars on the Deer District. I wanted to try the new places, so kept on trying them while hubby wanted to keep coming back here... and I'm glad we did this time. Sometimes new is good, but they've got it right here - I don't have to keep searching! Oh just one thing - all the TVs in the bar, and they have to play 60 minutes? Without captions? lol

We got lucky and had bar seats open up after about 5 minutes which allowed us to grab cocktails and relax. After a bit we ordered some Brussel sprouts as an appetitizer and before they could show up our table opened up. My wife chose the 2 piece cod fry with chips while I opted for the perch fry with fries. Everything was spectacular. The bartenders were jumping around each other to keep people happy at the bar and the rest of the staff get people's bellies filled with food. If you go keep in mind there are no reservations and will probably be a wait, but they will take great care of you and serve you some awesome fish!

I surprisingly don't have many options in my "MKE - Fish Fry" collection that are near downtown, but Swinging Door Exchange was one of them. I was pressed for time, so I placed a to go order rather than dining in. I got the combo fish fry (two pieces of cod, two pieces of perch, and three fried shrimp) with potato pancakes. I was also very easily talked into the half rack rib appetizer. The ribs were good, even though I prefer sauce that's more sweet and smokey. Their sauce was on the tangy side with a tease of spice that really only became noticeable when the majority of the half rack was gone. If I were in the mood for ribs as my main meal, I'd consider getting theirs as an entree. The two potato pancakes weren't homemade; instead, they were premade hash brown patties that some other restaurants also serve with their fish frys. These were perfectly acceptable in lieu of homemade pancakes. The cod tasted great, but the breading didn't hold up very well. Either the fish itself was too wet or the two block walk back to my car allowed for condensation to wreck it or possibly both. The perch was not yellow lake perch but probably something like pike perch. Even though both kinds of fish and the shrimp were all good sized portions, $29 feels like a lot. I wouldn't say no to it, though, if I were dining in next time and avoid the extra cost of their takeout fee. Shout-out to the bartenders working that night. The bar area was absolutely packed, but both of the ones I talked to about placing my order were friendly and helpful even with being super busy.

We just wanted a drink and a quick bite to eat and being during a baseball game, lots of places in the area were busy. There was a good crowd there watching the game as well. It's an interesting setup, reminds me almost of a living room (with dining tables) and then the small bar area is to the side. To order food, you do it through two wall kiosks which I like because you can look at options and not feel rushed unless there's a line. Outside they have tables and a tv as well. I choose a veggie sandwich which had a good kick to it! The smaller size was good enough for me. It was a bit confusing how to get your food, from what we understood, you have to go through a door to get to the kitchen window (bathrooms are that way too) but no one calls your order number or anything. I'd suggest an improvement on that way you know your food is ready or maybe we missed something. Overall, I would return and would like to try other items on the menu!

You do have to place your food order at the bar, which is kind of a downer. It isn't a traditional restaurant but more of a bar that serves food. The fries were awesome and plentiful. You can get a dusting of flavor on your fries and I got lemon pepper on mine. My only "complaint" for the burger is the brioche style bun is a bit overpowering and too much bread for the burger. I ended up just eating the patties, but this is my personal opinion. They had a cooler with self serve water which is what we chose m. Again, not a traditional waitstaff butt we were checked on after we got our food.
