First time visitor- menu looked good and we decided to check it out. 2 adults and 4 kids- waited about 10 minutes for a table to eat outside- service was extremely slow- only 6 tables for dining. Under an awning to eat, we were at the last table with half of us sitting in direct sunlight. This was lunch time on July 2nd.... we asked for a refill- because after sitting in the sun for nearly an hour, it tends to be hot and you drink your iced tea- to get a refill, it was going to cost the same as a another drink, as the owner is trying to make up costs for having to buy to go containers. Food was really good, service was SO SLOW! At least 30 minutes for food to come out- we ordered burgers, salad, a fish sandwich, and a lunch special tuna- If you choose this outdoor dining adventure, bring an additional water, sunscreen, and patience. If you weren't hangry before you sat down you may get that way while baking in the sun and wishing for a refill read more

This place is the real deal. Diner food that is familiar and comforting but extremely well done. Get there early for the lunchtime fried chicken special - I have never seen anything like it. A half chicken and superb cucumber potato salad for $9. The service is efficient, friendly and attentive. They certainly know their audience. They recognize locals and know how to treat tourists. The Kill Devil Grill hit the spot, met every expectation and was the perfect lunch as we got Into town before our check-in. There was exactly a 10-minute wait, no problem. Enough time to go to the bathroom and peruse the menu. Ordered right away, and our server was outstanding. Thank you Becca H. Ordered the blackboard special, Blackened Amberjack on Mash potatoes and it was delicious. The kids meals were on point for my 7 and 10-year old. Great grilled cheese and chicken tenders. I cannot say enough about this place! Their curbside pickup and online ordering was so simple. Our food came out fresh and hot. The staff were all very sweet! We had the flounder sandwich, crab cakes, and key lime pie. The crab cakes were the best I'd ever had in my entire life! They aren't kidding when they say no filler! 100% huge lumps of crab! I could've eaten my body weight in those and the sauce too! The flounder was crispy and fresh! The key lime pie was fantastic! This is my favorite restaurant on the outer banks. It never disappoints. There's almost always a wait, but it's worth it. Food is cooked to perfection. The specials are always plentiful and the whole menu is delightful. They also are careful with shellfish allergies (ex. separate fryer for fries). We had the fresh catch of the day which was a perfectly prepared blackened mahi mahi with black bean and corn salsa over grits. So delicious I ate every bite. Then we finished with a huge piece of key lime pie - deep dish version with vanilla wafer crumb crust which was amazing. I had a very specific craving for a nice cocktail and some spiced, steamed shrimp. There are lots of options for both in the area, but I selected Kill Devil Grill and am so glad I did! We had an excellent dinner at Kill Devil Grill. The service was superb, with every waiter and waitress checking on us whenever they passed. I haven't had that much attention, ever! The food was also excellent and the variety was good although not a huge menu. My ribeye was cooked exactly the way I asked, medium rare, and my fried onions and mashed potatoes were very good. My wife got the fried chicken salad with a house dressing and she was very pleased. Kill Devil Grill has the best Key Lime Pie in OBX. It is worth going there just for the pie. read more

Wow! This place is awesome. We stopped in here on our last night in town, which is a crying shame as I would have come here every night for dinner. We shared a Caesar salad and a pound of the steamed shrimp. The salad was very good and the dressing tasted home made. Then there were the shrimp, cooked using PBR. The house version of Old Bay seasoning had a nice kick, but you could still taste the sweet shrimp. Menu is great and our server, Julie was just the best as well as everyone who helped her. The service here is outstanding.
