This review is really late but after reading all the reviews about how they suck (1 stars) I have to say they don't suck! In fact I think they're one of the best bakeries locally and are reasonably priced. They did a custom cake for a birthday that was outstanding! They copied the picture exactly and it looked absolutely amazing. The cake itself was a little on the dry side but the design was beyond expectation that we didn't mind. Also ordered a birthday cake for my dad that tasted so good everyone wanted to take the leftovers home, so I highly recommend ordering the flavored cake. If I could give a zero, I would being so I paid over $1,000 for a wedding cake that never showed up at the wedding. On Friday, my sister got married and was looking forward to a couture cake that we ordered and paid for in January. The date and location were TBD but we selected a tentative date to sign the contract. I was told at the time that the preferred method of communication would be email since phone messages are often not returned. On March 11th, 2017 I sent an email with the final details of date, time, and venue. I called in July to confirm again when I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for the bridal shower. We received a confirmation phone call on Thursday October 5th from the icing where we confirmed date and venue again. The wedding venue received confirmation of the date as well. No wedding cake was ever made or delivered. Instead they sent a styrofoam cake and sheet cake for guests. When we went in to get our money back, conveniently there was no manager there and no way to get one there. I'm still waiting on a phone call. DO NOT GET YOUR WEDDING CAKE HERE. read more

The Icing made a beautiful, delicious cake for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. I emailed a picture of the design inspiration (a 2-tiered wedding cake) and they did a lovely job re-creating it. They were able to accommodate my order with less than 2 weeks notice after my other baker (home-based bakery) cancelled. I am generally not a fan of fondant, but theirs was very tasty. The cake was moist and flavorful (one vanilla layer with lemon filling; one chocolate layer with chocolate filling). The only reason I'm not giving a full five stars is because there was a small issue with the cake topper being a little asymmetrical. Overall, though, I was very satisfied and will definitely use this bakery again. read more

Used them for my wedding and grooms cake back in April. LOVED them both!!!! It started with the tasting, which was such a fun event. They were great in helping us design our wedding cake. Then I had this great idea to surprise me now husband with a grooms cake. I called them with just an idea...Captain Jack Sparrow dragging Holly Golightly away. I didn't have a drawing or anything down on paper, it was just this thought in my head. I told the designer I trusted her and boy was I blown away buy her creativity. My husband loved his cake. My daughter and I always get cupcakes. We just moved here, so we tried The Icing. We brought home 4 different flavors and all were very delicious! The only problem was they were very overpriced for the size. We have been to over 15 cupcake shops and never have received such small cupcakes for $3.00. They taste wonderful, but it's only 3 bites. read more

Went in to see about a bday for my son. The guy and girl at the counter were awesome and super helpful. They both answered my questions and pulled out their book of what they could do, it was amazing! Each page my son was like "oh I want that one!". I walked out with 13 different kinds of cupcakes for 29$. They're all so good I can't decide what kind to get! Def will go back! read more

This shop is a hidden gem in Stafford! I have been there to buy cupcakes for parties and for a treat for my husband and myself. The flavor combinations are fantastic (love the lemon & berry) especially. If you have a party and want a really great dessert, the selection here is wonderful! My work got some cupcakes from The Icing for a small ceremony so I thought I would try one. They were far too salty, like someone had put in too much baking soda or baking powder into the cake batter. Not a pleasant experience. Also, they apparently made a mistake with the order and the cupcakes weren't even ready for the ceremony they were ordered for. I don't know what was spent but I have heard they are pretty pricey. Whatever was paid, it wasn't worth it. Do not recommend. read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would! I recommended this place to a good friend for her daughter's second birthday in July. They put her order form in the wrong week/month of their order binder so the 1st birthday cake and smash cake was never made. How horrible to walk in to the bakery hours before the party and be told, "Oops, we didn't make your cake." Fast forward to my son's baptism this weekend. I went to pick up the cake and said, "This can't be it." The cake looked NOTHING like the picture I sent them. I specifically asked for them to make the exact cake except I wanted blue icing. The cake was smaller and would only feed 20-25 people. I specifically stated I had 35 guests to feed. I cried in the bakery because I had imagined this beautiful baptism cake that I paid $130 for and it looked like my toddler made it. It also had dark finger prints and some cracks on the side. The design was completely wrong. The owner gave me such attitude and told me she thought the cake was beautiful. Guess what, I'm a paying customer who has used this bakery in the past and has never had an issue until now. So if I say the cake looks like crap, it looks like crap! The bakery had a ton of weddings they were dealing with this weekend so unfortunately my son's baptism cake took a back seat. The owner reluctantly brought me a new cake the next day before the baptism reception but it was the EXACT same cake as before! They took the decorations from the previous cake and placed them on a bigger cake so that the only difference was that it fed 35 people. Are you kidding me!? Definitely not worth the money. Find a better bakery that takes pride in their work, even when they're swamped with other orders. Find a better bakery with better customer service and an owner that is sympathetic, attentive, and understanding to her customers wants and needs. read more

Wandered Stafford last Monday in an effort to fill a nagging craving for fresh pie. Any pie as long as it was fresh and made specifically for me. Saw the bakery and walked in. The shelves were bare except for an overcooked apple pie on display. Undaunted I asked for what pies they could make. I was told a cherry pie could be made but the ingredients wouldn't be in until Friday. Call it the excitement, call it a pie craving clouding my judgment but I PREPAID $19.50 for a pie that I could pick up Friday. For the road I did take a creme brûlée cup cake that was AMAZING! Friday finally comes at long last and my wife does me the honor of picking it up. She walks into the door as I sit with bib and fork in hand just to find to my dismay stands an overcooked cherry pie cooked especially just for me. I'll say that the filling was quite tasty however rendered inedible accompanied with any part of the burned crust (that also had the nerve to have sugar on top). The second star was only for the cupcake that was great. So go for the cupcakes but steer clear of the pie. read more

I love this bakery. I've ordered from here multiple times and they never fail. Their cakes are perfectly moist. My fav is the pink champagne cupcake. I just wish they're were open longer on Saturdays. They're closed before I get off of work and open when I have to be at work. read more

Love this place. We walk in and purchase cupcakes from The Icing on a fairly regular basis. They are always delicious...especially the Oreo, S mores and Neapolitan cupcakes! Staff is friendly and attentive. The store is clean and modern with a wide variety of items and flavors. read more

I walked into the Icing one day, starving for cupcakes, and I was immediately welcomed by their employees. One in particular stood out to me. She was a beautiful blonde with manners straight from a cotillion class. Well educated and had lively eyes that really have a story behind them. You could tell she had a beautiful, wise soul, comparable to a turtle. She took my order, which was incredibly long and complicated, but remembered it without writing it down. She had the memory of an elephant. She was what every guy wanted and what every girl wanted to be. she is my cupcake queen. I now eat there everyday in search of this majestic homio sapien. Tried this place last week (April 2016). Dozen cups for $20. Thought it was a little high but just couldn't resist. I e-mailed and verified over the phone what kind of cake I wanted - an ammo box and my husband's favorite gun. After the lady on the phone (Shannon?) verified with the "artist" that what I wanted could be accomplished and ready by Saturday August 8th, I paid for my order $184.28 u front with my card. I arrived promptly at the designated pick up time to find a big green rectangle as my cake. Supposedly this was a $184 dollar ammo box only (no gun) hideous cake. They did not tell me prior to picking up that they would only be able to make half of my request. Naturally, I was very upset. The ladies in the bakery got the owner on the phone who exasperatedly said "What can do I to help you?". AS there was nothing she could over the phone, she said she would call me Monday August 10th to figure out how to fix this mess. No call. I e-mailed August 16th. Still no reply. This bakery will take your money, make a half-hearted attempt to deliver and if you are not satisfied will completely ignore you. Worst experience with customer service ever. Oh, and the cake was so top heavy and not packaged correctly that it fell over even with the most careful handling. read more

We did several tastings before deciding on The Icing for my Daughters Wedding Cake, she had a specific design in mind and it seemed that they were the only people that understood what the look was, I didn't think they had as many choices in cake flavors, but I did like the picture she drew. So we decided to go with them. I ordered the cake, had a contract, and took a cake stand down to them to use, they told me it wouldn't probably hold the cake, so they would use it but not guarantee the cake wouldn't fall, so of course we said, well then we will go with a stand you have and she had a nice stand. Now remember I had a contract signed saying NA in the cake stand paragraph and so I didn't read the verbiage of the paragraph as it was clearly marked NA. Please know what you have. The Icing delivered the cake for the wedding, and our Wedding Coordinator spoke with them as well about getting the cake there, they never mentioned that the cake stand had to be returned by Tuesday after the wedding or it says in the contract (marked NA) that it is a $650.00 charge. I never thought about it the night we were packing up the wedding stuff, and they didn't mention to anyone that it should be returned like all other vendors, paying as much as we did, we actually ordered 2 cakes; a large wedding cake and a grooms cake so I spent a lot of money there. So she calls my Daughter while she is on her Honeymoon, away from the area the week after on a Tuesday and and is very rude, and demands she brings the cake stand back, or they will charge us $650.00. The venue had the stand, I had a person go get the stand and take to them. Please keep in mind, they are about 10 miles from the venue and I am about 30 miles. So if you decide to go with them, be aware of the contract, ask questions, and know you are responsible for the return of the cake stand, or you to will get threatened. Funny how they want your business and are wonderful until something doesn't go there way and boom RUDE. Delivery makes all the difference, she could have called me (I paid for it) the Mother of the Bride, or even call the Bride, but nicely said; "I haven't gotten the cake stand back, you do know it was do last week, right?" I would Not recommend this company. I ordered my husbands 22 years of Service, retirement cake 2 months in advance. The sheet cake with Decor, I was quoted to be $110.00. Looked over pictures of other cakes they had made and even upped my budget to $175.00 for a Sheet cake for my husbands Special day. Went over colors. Emailed the owner a couple of times on DETAILS. Pre-Paid for the cake to be ready at 1100am on the day of the retirement. Arrived at 1120am to pick up cake. Was told they were finishing the final touches. The cake was rolled out to me and I started to cry. This was NOT the cake I ordered and PAID $175.00 for. The cake had no Color, it was WHITE with WHITE Boarders, Not the Yellow cake with RED Boarders... The Eagle Globe and Anchor was PINK, plus it was the Officers, NOT the Enlisted as I sent Pictures of the difference in the emails. There was NO WAY I could present this cake. The Owners have No Class and started a confrontation with me in front of THEIR Customers. They are Extremely Unprofessional. If I wanted a Walmart cake with WALMART service, I would have gone to Walmart. read more
