We are so fortunate in the WDC area to have access to the delightful confections from I Love Macarons. Not only are they beautiful, but these macarons are the freshest I've ever tasted. The fillings are smooth, fresh and light. The cookie is slightly chewy, easily giving way to the tender center. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! They also have cafe affogato which I wanted to try but chickened out since it was early in the day for that much sugar. I got the pistachio white chocolate mocha latte and since it was their birthday, they had free whipped topping and sprinkled with all drinks. I got the whipped topping on my iced coffee and it was amazing! I could taste the nutty flavor of pistachio and also the white chocolate. They didn't fill up the cup with ice and give very little drink which I also appreciated. They also had pastries and some food items but the food menu is relatively small. The chocolates are reasonably priced for gourmet chocolates (~$1-3 each) and taste good, with something like three cases to choose from. Service was fast, but they forgot to package some of our chocolates. When we called about the issue, they did offer us a refund. On the other hand, the pricing of the pastries was astronomical. The one we bought (white rose) cost $18, when I've had a similar pastry in Arlington, VA that only cost $11. Taste-wise, it was fine. They also offer gelato and gift boxes, but we didn't buy any so I can't comment on them. The back of the shop is decently sized and has one or two tables for people to sit at, but the part of the shop that goes past the chocolate cases is very narrow. If somebody has a walker/wheelchair/stroller, or a group in front of you forms a cluster, you probably won't be able to move past them.
