I like to come here w/ my friends from Mesa after they get off work. We can basically walk outside Mesa, hang a left, then hang another left and you are at The Huddle. Parking sucks in the small lot that is also shared by Ikko, a Japanese ramen restaurant and Lotions and Lace (not that I have ever been to the latter - ahem, ahem - LOL!). The Huddle is a dive bar w/ pool tables and a punching machine. We usually get pitchers of beer and socialize w/ all the other patrons. The drinks are cheap here. In addition, the bartenders are cool, the clientele is friendly and the ladies are nice. I would have no problem meeting a friend here as a starter, or as an in between place. read more

Smokers, rejoice! The state of California may not care about your rights, but The Huddle does. I've only been here twice, and both times people were smoking. I think "last call" for the smoke is 6:30 pm. You should quit, by the way. Pints of PBR are $2.50. Pints of Pyramid Hefe are $3.50. That's all I know. Neither time did I feel the hostility that one often experiences in dive bars. Most of the patrons seemed cool. The bartender was especially cool, and refilled my friend's pint after he spilled it on the bar! He did get a "oh, hell, no!" from one of the customers, but I felt that he deserved it. We are regulars here & it's our go to spot!! We used to come multiple times a week until I got preggers. It is the best place ever to play pool - nothing compares. Liam is the best waiter around! I've lived in Costa Mesa for 5 years and only known about the huddle for a little over a year. I'm only mad I didn't find this gem sooner! Doesn't matter what night you go (although the weekends are busier obviously), it's always a guaranteed good time. So fun, sometimes too much fun...as in I can't leave, oh snap, it's 2 already? All of the bartenders and staff rock! I've read people complaining on here about not being able to hear their music on the jukebox. I've spent my fair share on that baby believe me! If you want to hear your songs, spend the extra 1-2 credits and hit play next if it's a busy night. If you don't, chances are you probably won't hear your song. The Huddle has an unbelievable amount of "regulars," all of whom play that juke box and know that golden rule. Not a smoker myself, but there is a smoking patio. Well drinks are $5 and PBR'S are $3.50, if you can't swing that you shouldn't be out anyway. Taco Mike is there throughout the week and every weekend with his food truck. Nom nom nommmm! Essentially, your local dive bar without the gross divey patrons. It's actually pretty hip, but it's probably due to location. They have got The Camp and Commissary Lounge within walking distance, and now The Barley Forge Brewing Co. It's the mecca for a pre- and post- party spot for the youngins' of the night. Youngin' at heart! The Huddle is probably one of my new favorites that I discovered this year. I was at Commissary and one of the guys in our group was wearing shorts, which barred entrance to the totally wannabe upscale, pretentious lounge. SO we headed next door and it was probably one of the chillest and most fun nights. Not to mention, cheap drinks all around. I enjoyed it so much I even celebrated my birthday here. Casual, fun, stiff drinks and only a $1 for the pool tables. I am no master at billiards, but this place has got 6 tables for pool, darts, and a jukebox (not sure if it works properly). Accidentally stumbled across The Huddle some time ago. Can't believe it has been down the street from me the whole time. It's right next to the fancy "fish imported from Japan" sushi restaurant. In the same plaza as the adult store and a ramen restaurant. The bar caters to locals and regulars. Seems like the people who come here come here a lot. I loveeeeed that they had so many pool tables. You don't have to wait and it's not so crowded where you can't play pool cause people are in the way. I sometimes go to bars in Newport Beach to play, but they usually only have one or two tables and then it gets too crowded. This place is great spacious. Everyone is really friendly and you'll meet some really good pool players. You can also play darts and they have some other random arcade games pinball machine. Love this spot! New to the Anaheim area but I go to school and work in Costa Mesa/Newport. It's an awesome bar to play pool it's got about 10 tables, good to socialize with locals and bartenders, you can even watch all the UFC fights with actual room! This bar is a good size! Drinks are average priced. Not expensive at all. Which I would have expected first impression! The bartender Liam is the BEST! He tends to work until about 7 every day I've been there. But he for sure has awesome customer service! The other girls I've seen working are also good. For sure a spot to check out if you are in the area :) read more

Can't believe I've never reviewed The Huddle! Been coming here for way too long, since it was half the size it is now and we'd go smoke in the alley outside the back door by the pool tables and climb the ladder to the roof to smoke other stuff. But that was a long time ago, and I digress... Great place to watch MMA fights and other PPV events for a small cover charge. But It gets crowded for special events so come early if you want to sit! Don't show up 30 min before fight time and then complain that it was standing room only. Come early and get a head start on your buzz haha. Weekends are busy as it gets later and it can take a little bit to get your drinks...but be patient. The bartender is doing the best he/she can! Just wait your turn and all will be good. Always have a good time here...maybe too good! So many nights I can't remember, the bartenders who know me love to see me walk in...they know I'll spend way too much money and they will get that 15% tip because once again I left my card. Walking in to the dingy space early the next morning feeling like hell, not looking much better, and hating the smell of alcohol. Picking my car up after taking a cab home the night before...before Lyft and Uber came along. Love Tami, Liam even crazy ass Ted. Finally bought my Huddle hoodie last time I went. It's pretty huge inside with lots of pool tables and two dart boards and the new store juke box to okay some tunes. Plenty of beer on tab or in a bottle. Been coming to The Huddle since 2002 and it has yet to disappoint. Great for groups or if you wanna roll in by yourself and make a new friend. All the bartenders are friendly and attentive. Affordable price-wise and if you're hungry they have chips, a microwave and toaster oven for some other cheap tasty treats. Doesn't matter when you come in; Monday night (football), Thursday afternoon, Saturday day... there will be folks having fun and enjoying the Huddle vibe. If you're a 22 year old hipster or 62 year old that can still get his or her drink on, this is the spot for you. Can't believe it's taken me this long to throw my love to The Huddle up on Yelp. I came to this locale with some colleagues and had a decent enough time. I was not the biggest fan of being seated outside on plastic chairs, but I persevered. Unfortunately, that boisterous energy was met with an unfriendly kind--our table was served by a middle aged woman, rough around the edges, and with black, albeit frazzled, hair. Oh momma! I think I just found my local dive bar. The Huddle is one of those Costa Mesa classics that welcomes all. Come one, come all, but The Huddle is sure to be a good time. Now this is your ultimate day/night out with the boys. Pool tables galore, dart boards, a juke box, cheap beers, oh how can you not be pleased? I guess if you didn't like any of the things I just stated. $10-$12 pitchers that pour out 4 beers! What a steal! If you're a pool hall junkie, you'll love The Huddle. They're well equipped with about 10 pool tables. And girls I know what you're thinking-- dive bar, disgusting old men and dirty bathrooms, but this isn't the case here. Well, maybe there are a few of the former but the restrooms are clean! Come with the boys, play some pool and have a beer. The Huddle is definitely a cheap fun way to spend your day or night. They even have a taco guy that comes at night and pulls up right in front of the bar to serve you some yummy tacos. What's better than beer and greasy tacos? The answer is nothing! I'm very surprised to read all these positive reviews considering the horrible experience I had at this establisment last night on New Year's Eve. I was going to stay home for New Year's Eve this year, but my friend recommended that we go to The Huddle and have a few drinks and shoot some pool. I had never heard of this place but my friend described it as a "chill dive bar." Sounded good to me. As we entered the establihment, I immediately noticed that this place indeed was a dive bar. There's nothing wrong with that. I ordered two drinks and opened a tab with my credit card. The bartender was a big tall guy who was very nice. The drinks were cheap and stiff. Good so far. Time for round numer two. This time, there was a girl with tattoos who was serving the bar. I ordered an Absolut tonic and after she prepared the drink, I gave her my name and told her that I had a tab open. Her response was "what is your point. This is not your drink." I was very confused and said, "sorry, I didn't get this joke." She walked away and I was like WTF. A few minutes later, a number of other friends joined us and they ordered drinks from the same lady bartender. This lady went completely crazy on them and started spraying alcohol on them. By this time, it was apparent that this bartender was on some serious drugs. We decided to leave and as we were walking out, one of my friends made the fatal mistake of complaining about the bartender's behavior to the bouncer (an old bald white dude). Apparently, whatever drug the bartender was on, this bouncer was on that same drug. He went completely nuts at my friend and started yelling profanities. I pushed my friends out of there as I was in no mood of getting my ass kicked by this dude who had nothing to lose and was crazy. He kept yelling at us as we were walking to our vehicles. In fact, he even called one of the females in our group a "whore." In sum, I don't know how this place usually conducts its business, but on the evening of December 31, 2011, this bar was clearly being run by crazy people who were drugged out of their heads. read more

My 400th review, wooo hooo!!! Decided to have a post-Pop Physique workout drink here (don't judge me) with Lauren B. Walked into a cloud of cigarette smoke and was instantly transported to the Midwest. It was like walking into a bar in Valparaiso, Indiana. All white people... NOT that I minded... I just didn't appreciate the "Oh great, now the Asian chicks are coming here?!" comment that I picked up from some intelligent white boy. Hey, at least it's comforting to know not every white male suffers from yellow fever. But what did tickle my fancy was that the bartenders were nice and 2Pac was blaring from the speakers. Got a pitcher of Hefeweizen for $14 which eased our sweaty, aching joints nicely. I'll definitely be back. With all the Asian girls I can round up. Bet that. read more

This place is awesome! When I first walked in I got the pool hall type of vibe. There are a good number of pool tables and they have darts! I gave in with a group of people we sat down at the bar and a bartender came to us very quickly. we ordered our drinks and got them very fast. When I went in there was no smoking but there was a small patio out in the back or side whatever you'd like to call it for smoking. the patio is small not a place to hang out with people but just a place to smoke. So It's Laura's Bday Eve. (Happy Birthday LS!) Not just any Bday mind you, but a special milestone kinda Bday. Somehow the crew decides on this old dive that has been here forever, and that I have involuntarily visited maybe 2 or 3 times over many years. But hey, its an afternoon party so I figure we will have the place to ourselves, so how bad can it be eh? Ya know what? Not bad at all actually. Clean and tidy joint, including the mens room. Very friendly cheery btender lady that even happily put the Kings/Wings game on. She even tolerated (enjoyed?) an impromptu table dance by one of Laura's friends. That's what dive bars are all about, allowing the patrons lots of leeway. Right? Right! And for you tabackie smokers, yep, also tolerated as well. And what self disrespecting dive bar would be complete without an overly friendly incoherent regular? Got that here too.
