Sizzling fajitas plate not great but sarisfactory.

Was on the island and totally bummed that gigantic waves prohibited any swimming so my first time coming here to swim will probably be my last. To not make complete waste of a day driving down from the valley, decided to come here and grab one last table available with my family to have lunch and watch the World Cup final. We ordered the house nachos with chicken it was decent they were so busy I honestly don't know how they kept track and got the orders out so you have to take that into consideration. We asked for house salsa and pico de gallo on the side because it's dry without it even though it has some pico on it already. A nice portion and we all enjoyed it with some Dos Equis beers. The next item was the steak fajitas. I like the plate that comes with which is loaded with toppings refried beans and rice plus of course corn tortillas. Some of the parts of the meat were a little bit hard to chew but it wasn't unedible over all the dish was pretty good as well. Our server did a fantastic job considering how swamped she was and it was an absolute Madhouse. They charge 5% service fee on all tabs to offset costs and all that bullshit. There were lots of people standing around inside coming late...I didn't like that because they kept bumping into me and invading my personal space. They should not be allowed inside if no seats are available PERIOD. Either be sat at a table/ bar or get the fuck out. Very chaotic couldn't wait till the game finished of course went to extra time and then some.

The reviews almost made me not want to come here, but I'm pretty glad I did cause it was freaking fantastic! Walked right in and sat down in front of a few TV's and was able to comfortably watch the football game... service was friendly and had no issues The nachos are perfect sharing size, and the margaritas are perfect! It's within walking distance of the beach which only made it better... definitely a great spot to check out!

Great place on the beach to grab a drink! We sat at the window and grabbed some drinks. The giant marg was great and at a great price. Service was great, they were nice and always made sure we had what we needed. They also had TV's playing current sports games which was fun! The inside is fun! Music playing, sports on the TV's, fun vibes. Lots of USC decor, FIGHT ON!!

Our experience was extremely well! We were greeted by someone at the door who was friendly and welcoming. It was definitely a packed house, which we could see why, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was serving us drinks that were delicious, strong, and definitely got our moneys worth on drinks. He had us laughing the whole time and was very personable. Initially we just went for drinks, but the food smelled amazing, so we ordered chips and salsa (which were way larger than expected), fries, and a chicken quesadilla. All had delicious flavor and were extremely satisfied. The only thing that was disappointing was how small the restroom was.

Such a wonderful location but just such sub par food and drinks. The staff are pretty friendly, the runners were really great and cleaning the table and clearing plates, servers not overly attentive. Their bogo margs is kind of lame. You have to ordered the same flavor and have to get both at once and can't stagger their delivery to your table. And their margs are alright, not the best. We got chicken tenders and the tres amigos platter. Between three it was a good amount of food but unsurprisingly very gringo versions. The tenders were basic frozen tenders and the dips straight out of jars. But got the job done.

Came here for my friends bday!! We came after a bust ride! The inside was dim lit but has a cool interior!! Kinda small but it works!!! I only ordered a drink and must I say that thing was as big as my head!!! Will say it was a lot. So make sure to take precaution when getting the drink!! But also my friend got their drinks so fast and mine took a while but still was delicious :p The dude was cool. Sorry if the comment I made, made you put your cap :( but anyways cool dude. I will see, though with the restrooms were very tiny

Always a fun time at Cabo Cantina! Stopped in for dinner last night before hopping on the Holiday Lights cruise at Davey's Locker for the boat parade. They always have the best deals on drinks, 2 for the price of 1! Full bar with tons of custom options. It was a fairly slow night and the service was very speedy. Got our drinks fast and food came out hot and quick. I got the Cabo chopped salad with chicken. It always hits the spot with fresh lettuce, deliciously seasoned chicken, lots of toppings, and a nice tangy dressing. The fiancé got the fajita plate with steak so we could share our meals and have 2 types of meat. The steak was cooked perfect and had so much flavor! I was scraping it off the piping hot dish at the end. The bell pepper and onions were delicious and tender. All of it paired perfectly with the rice, beans, guac, sour cream, and cheese of course. This place always feels like a vacation and their holiday decorations are so over the top in the best way!

I don't even know where to start. This place was extremely unprofessional and honestly just straight up racist. We went in and my friend showed his ID by holding it up (which is not uncommon at all), and instead of just asking him to hand it over or calmly explaining anything, the guy immediately told him "get out." No explanation, just aggressive for no reason. When my friend asked why, he started yelling "get out" over and over again. As we were leaving, things got even worse. The bartender yelled "that's why you never met your dad" at my friend... which is completely out of line and disgusting, especially considering my friend is Black. At that point it didn't even feel like a misunderstanding anymore, it felt straight up racist.

Cabo Cantina in Newport Beach leans more into a party spot than a traditional restaurant, but the food still holds its own if you know what to order. The atmosphere hits you first. Loud music, packed tables, TVs everywhere, and a crowd that's there to drink and hang out. This place stays busy, especially at night, and works best if you go in expecting energy instead of a quiet meal. It's built for groups, not solo dining. The menu sticks to classic Mexican bar food. Tacos, burritos, nachos, and fajitas make up most of what you'll see. The portions come out large and filling, which fits the setting. Popular picks like carne asada fries, shrimp tacos, and loaded nachos stand out as solid choices. Flavor-wise, the food is good for what it is. Nothing overly complex, but seasoned well and satisfying after a long day at the beach or a night out. The fish tacos bring a lighter option, while the burritos and fries lean heavier and more indulgent. Where this place really separates itself is value. The 2-for-1 happy hour deals and large drinks draw most people in, and the food complements that experience instead of competing with it. Service depends on how busy it gets. During peak hours, things slow down and feel less organized. When it's calmer, the staff keeps things moving and stays friendly. This is not the place for a refined dining experience. You go here for loud energy, big portions, and a fun group setting. If you walk in with that mindset, Cabo Cantina delivers.

I started with their French Onion Soup which was worth the price. One of the best I've had. Per the menu its French 75's recipe. Brunch was ok. Not the best or worst. I had the breakfast burrito and my wife had the omelette. Both good. Portions were large though so we just enjoyed the ambiance while ignoring the awkwardness of our neighboring tables. Cocktails were good. I saw a guy rocking out to the music on his 4th espresso martini so I ordered one of those. It'll give you both an alcohol and caffeine buzz. Can't imagine drinking 4! My wife's fruity cocktail was also good. We both enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back. Just wish I could have scored a water view table!

Unfortunately, my recent visit was such a disappointment. Let's start with food. We ordered wings, chips and whipped feta. The wings had clearly been refrigerated and thrown on the grill for a hot second. The fat on them were soft and gelatinous and when I bit into it, the center was hard and super cold. It also smelled like a fridge. We sent them back and asked for a fresh batch but they had just taken the same ones and warmed them up. Very possible they were microwaved. I knew they were the ones I sent back because the wing I had taken a bite out of and spit out was right back on the plate. Then let's get into the chips. They were stale. They advertised them as home made and I don't doubt that but it's like they made them 3 days ago and left them out. They were cold and barely crispy. We sent these back as well and we got a slightly better batch but I wasn't going to argue this with the staff. The saving grace was the whipped feta. This was actually good. Nothing wow but it was edible since the other two items were such a huge let down. Now service. The lady that served us was very very sweet. However, not a great server. She disappeared and we needed to flag down another server for a refill. She was also not the one that we could talk to about our disappointing food. Another server had to come check on us. I don't think I could convince my husband to come back here, let alone spend money on this. It's unfortunate since I was hoping to share a slice of my former Newport stomping grounds with him.
