Came here on a Friday night to play pool (they have 10 tables) and we didn't end up playing LOL! It was sooo busy, but the vibe was really chill, I'd recommend not coming on a weekend if you're looking to play pool. The bar is great with fast service! And the music is whatever someone plays on the jukebox, so it varies. Outside they have a taco truck, but it's definitely not like an actual taco truck, it's way more like typical bar food served in a truck outside. read more

Great dive bar that's small and intimate. You can meet for a drink at the bar or stand around. There's a great juke box but plays music that keeps the vibe going. Pool tables are in decent condition so get ready to try your luck. Service is adequate for a dive bar - not good, not great. I don't think any food is served here...maybe peanuts? Tried coming here with some friends and I was able to get in just fine, the bouncer barely looked at my ID. However, when my friend showed his military ID, he was denied entrance because the bouncer would not accept it as a proper form of identification although California State accepts it as proper. My friend showed his expired license (he just got back from deployment and hasn't been able to renew it) to prove his identification and age, however, the bouncer became defensive and asked us to leave because he could not "scan" the military ID. Of course he couldn't, military IDs can only be scanned by military devices. This is the only bar that has given us trouble regarding a military ID. read more

I was here a few days after they opened the bar during the first lock down of covid days. I was forced to buy a meal with my beer and was told it was a state mandated rule, which I thought It was bullshit, but I figured it will help their business so I didn't mind. The place was friendly, the staff, the people. There were enough TV's to enjoy whatever sports that was on and at that time everyone was as pretty spaced out. I wasn't there very long because I was waiting for a gf to get out of work. Overall, your typical hole in a wall sports bar, with inexpensive beers. (I didn't get a chance to try their food), sports TV and friendly people. Will certainly return. read more

You're cool neighborhood but there doesn't have any bad vibes. Drinks are reasonable and pool tables are cheap. Availability during weekend nights could be tough but wouldn't mind coming here once in a while. There's also a taco truck that sits outside for late night eats! read more

I was here when said , previously reviewed guys where here. This is a amazing bar . When a girl is working and guys start fighting, it's a very hard situation. She asked them politely several times to just vacate. I think she handled it as professionally as possible. Her biggest fear was that the bar full of locals would have gotten involved. Go home , find another bar . And stop picking on people. It's a bar . You came in flirting with her , left with bashing her and her bar online . Grow up ! Oh the huddle. I will miss you when I move next week. You're a safe haven, a home base for the outcast, lowly, and anyone else who doesn't care to see everyone done up to uphold the OC image. I don't like loud music at bars, except I like loud music at the Huddle. I don't like grimy bathrooms, except it doesn't bother me at the huddle. I don't like being around belligerent drink people, but the ones at the Huddle are just so darn charming. There's some legit pool sharks here, and then there's me and my friends who take far too long to play a game. Nobody would judge you though or say you're hogging the table. The bartenders are fast, and don't play favorites. Next time you're thinking about following the trend of Costa Mesa into expensive drinks, stuck up patrons, and deconstructed interior design (whatever the heck that means), do yourself a favor and support a place that far better represents this neighborhood and come here. read more

Feels like a typical sports bar with lots of locals! Saw a hoodie on the wall, they've been around for many years. Came here on a weekday after work and there were people watching several games. Many TVs and pool tables. Breathalyzer machine on the wall. read more

This place is a great friendly vibe. Also very well priced, especially with Mesa next door being crazy expensive. They have heaters outside and cornhole. They also have tvs outside you can watch. There is a taco truck certain days. Everyone is nice and friendly and everyone there likes to drink. They have a full bar. Indoors is a great place with pool tables but currently indoor is closed. read more

How does this bartender still work here? She made sexist comments, entirely inappropriate even for the good old huddle. She ignored regulars and waiting 15 minutes for a round. We walked in with a party of 6, one of which is 8 months pregnant (which was clearly obvious) on a Sunday at 3:00pm. We all showed our IDs, however, our pregnant friend did not have her ID on her. She offered to show both a photo copy of her ID and passport, which was not accepted and we were all asked to leave. From what I saw, the atmosphere was dark and dingy and the man who checked out IDs was rude and unwelcoming. I would not return even if we all had our IDs on us. We initially went for the dart boards, which were not real dart boards, but the fake electronic ones. read more

Cheap dranks. Clean and modern bathroom. Pool tables. Darts. White Castle Burgers. What more could you ask from a dive bar?! Would I be back? You betcha!! Located behind The Camp / Mesa is this dive bar. My Uber driver wished me "good luck" as he dropped me off. LOL. The door was closed and there was no distinct sign that declared the door as the entrance. I met up with my coworkers on Friday evening from 4-8PM. FOOD: bags of chips and microwavable white castle burgers - 1 pack (contains 2 burgers) for $2! DRINKS: they had a variety of liquor - I stuck to beer. The total for a pitcher of beer, 2 packs of white castle burgers, and a bottle of beer was $20!! MUSIC: super weird music I've never heard of in my life was playing until we decided to pay for music at the TouchTunes. The music was on the loud side, but we were still able to have a conversation. AMBIANCE: Super chill. I'm sensitive to cigarette smell and that was the first thing I noticed upon entering the establishment. Everyone who was there seemed friendly and kept to their own group / corner / pool table. Everyone was dressed very casually. BATHROOM: The carpet does not match the drapes!! I was not expecting to walk into a modern bathroom. It was new, bright, clean with vinyl grey wooden floors. It was like walking into another bar's bathroom. read more

The Huddle is one of the chill spots I enjoy to go to during Football season. They have plenty of TVs with multiple sports games on at once while you knock back a few shots or beers. The bartenders here are really nice and chill people. They have a full bar and even a cubbie area for you to charge your phones. I actually like coming here to watch football with my friends who are not super into football because they also have 8 pool tables. It is only 4 quarters/$1 per game. They have 2 change machines, plenty of pool sticks and powder. The pool tables are first come first serve and they are usually not too busy before 7:00pm. This place gets surprisingly busy large in the night. They also have a juke box, pin ball machine, darts and a shooting game too. Bring those quarters!! read more

My husband and I have walked by the Huddle multiple times but never made it in until last Saturday night. We were walking by after grabbing beers from Salty Bear .. when we noticed a taco truck! We ordered some tacos and nachos and were told we could eat inside the Huddle. We decided to order some drinks and wait for our food inside and were lucky enough to grab a table (so that we could eat comfortably once our food came out). A Jack & coke cost $6 - not bad but we ordered two and our drinks were served in two differently-sized cups. It was busy enough to be lively without being too crowded early on a Saturday night and a lot of people were playing pool and ordering pitchers. Honest opinion: we probably won't head back for the tacos or The Huddle anytime soon .. but are fans of the ramen restaurant in this plaza! read more

Covid-19 update. You're required to wear a mask to come in. Once you're inside, you can do as you like. I think is just so people have one. They updated their policy about no cues sticks, so you can bring your cues, but no outside food just yet. The tables are rented by the hour. $10/hour so play fast! Lol read more

Alissa was super rude. She was inhospitable and super rude to me and my friends. She wouldn't even give us eye contact or the time of day. Yeah my friend came in a little upset about our uber ride that was racist so he came in a little heavy. But we told her that and she still took it out on us when we came here to have a good time. Ok went here on a Thursday night. Place is a bit trashy. A lot yelling and screaming. Waited 25 minutes to get a beer to have served to me warm. Additionally the glass was dirty. Not sure if they really washed their dishes. The security guard in the parking lot....well let's just say he looked a little sketchy with his hand in his pants as we were walking out. On days that there isn't big games, tables come and go pretty quickly so there isnt usually much of a wait at least on the weekdays. There are options for indoor and outdoor seating available. Our server was good, however I will say as soon as we paid they stopped refilling our waters. We stayed and chatted for a bit but our waiter or any staff never checked on us again after. Also, the bathroom could have used some attention, the trashcan was overflowing with paper towels and the plunger was out in plain view. I think a basket would help hide the plunger and cleaning products just so that the customers aren't thinking about plungers while at the restaurant.

Never ever ever going back here again. Only went here because of the comedy show last night. Stage curtains are disgusting. Over all, a dirty, cold, uninviting place. -- We still left 20% tip, it's just what we do.

Some items in the menu doesn't have prices so I wasn't sure what the overall cost would be. Good service. Indoor decor looks like cafeteria / bar area. Kind of dark but I like how big it looks inside. Outside you would think it's a business building.

Food was tasty, the location is fantastic right on Newport harbor with many tables having a wonderful view of the water and passing boats. Prices are reasonable for a waterfront dinner in Newport. Parking in their lot is valet only with a charge of $25 so not cheap but very convenient. There are lower cost options if you're willing to walk a block or 4 for street or municipal lot parking spaces. Service was good and attentive, especially considering the size of our group, 11 people. Tip is included in large groups. We would return in the future.

The place is small but decent, with a side room, pool table, outdoor area, and a fair number of TVs. However, it lacks the flow and atmosphere of a larger sports bar. The food was average: my medium burger arrived overcooked and dry, and the $3 upcharge for sweet potato fries felt steep. The bigger issue was that the TVs froze for about 30+ minutes, leaving us watching the game on our phones. I understand technical problems happen, but the response felt lacking. The manager or owner seemed stressed while trying to fix the issue, but there was little communication or customer recovery. A quick acknowledgment or small gesture would have helped - free beer or fries goes a long way toward recovering after your tech fumble. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but between the average food, TV problems, and limited response, I'd probably choose another place next time.
