It always makes me happy to see a restaurant where you know the owners are giving their all, have thought about the details, have well-trained staff and pride in their food. The Hook has all of the above. The restaurant looks clean and contemporary inside with a nice bar area. No riff-raff customers (except myself), mostly families or couples. We sat outside which has about 8 four-tops and is gated. The server was pleasant and efficient, but I was really happy to see food runners who brought the food as soon as it was ready, and therefore, hot, and bussers who were quick and polite. That's the way it should be; I see too many servers overwhelmed these days, so it was nice to have food runners and bussers, especially during COVID. The food was excellent. I had the NW Cioppino which had fresh clams, mussels, salmon and LARGE shrimp. Great broth and side of cheese bread to dip. Lamb orzo soup was homemade and the sweet potato fries were so fresh and flavorful. The only thing I would change would be more vegetarian options (for my wife). The veggie burger option was good quality, but made to taste like beef, instead of taste like vegetables. And they weren't willing to put a fried egg on the burger for my wife. I took my daughter to the Hook after her graduation ceremony in June. I had raved about this place. Her steak came out raw. We waited 25 minutes for it to come back over fone. Fifteen minutes later, it was finally fine. It was my daughter's graduation dinner after graduating from Culinary school with honors. The waitress seemed to joke it off. We were back! Went for Happy Hour menu last Sunday (3 to 5). While the Happy Hour menu is limited, the prices are bargains. The crab and shrimp dip came hot with a broiled crust and artichokes. Fabulous! The accompanying pita wedges were lame. Would have liked fresh veggies to dip. The Baked Brie was compared to homemade and did not do as well. A special list of exotic cocktails was lots of fun to sample. Even at Happy Hour Special prices, they were considered fancy (pricey). I like this style of bistro dining and it's a very convenient drive from our Lynnwood home. I really enjoyed the seafood linguini with flavorful buttery scallops, flaky halibut and fresh jumbo prawns. The portions were adequate but not overly generous for the price tag. Paired with the glass of merlot and bread, a very nice dinner. The concrete floor and industrial style open ceiling makes for loud atmosphere. The bar side had a football game on and surprisingly the restaurant side was not very busy for a wet and stormy Saturday night. Service was friendly and attentive. I live in the neighborhood of The Hook and have been enjoying the food and atmosphere since it opened. The food is consistently delicious and the service is very good. I've been a fan for a long time and recommend dining in the restaurant. Recently I ordered food to pick up for the first time and was extremely disappointed by the portion size of the chowder. This photo is the portion size for a BOWL of chowder. This photo shows the exact amount of what I received. Nothing spilled, nothing consumed. This is right after taking off the lid. The Hook is located in Perrinville where there are many empty store fronts in a business development that never quite got going. opened in fall of 2014. the restaurant must be a welcome addition to a neighborhood populated by teriyaki joints and pizza houses because at 6:30 pm on a friday night, i was seated at the last open table in the house, in the bar. throughout our ninety minute stay, there was constant waiting line. so get there early or later if you do not like to wait. the restaurant is loud, the kitchen is open, there is a nice young lady at the front and the wait staff are well trained and cheerful. there is a full bar with additional table seating for those who prefer to dine in the over-twenty-one side although based on the prices, i doubt there will be many families with smallish children occupying precious table space and demanding constant attention as children and doting parents are wont to do. our server, Kelly was pleasant and checked on us often but not intrusively. i liked there was a staff member assigned to fill water glasses as well as helping to lear tables. crab and shrimp dip: as expected. i liked that there were enough pita chips for the amount of the dip. pita and tatziki: very nice creamy, dilly tatziki with just enough of a tang to raise it above the masses. a generous serving of pita chips, sliced cucumber, greek olives, and slice tomatoes. northwest salmon entree: guessed the salmon to be about 6 oz. nice grilled finish. the fish was just this side of being in danger of over cooked. dinner special: roasted lamb gyros. the lamb was "real" roasted lamb that was cut into small cubes. would have preferred slices rather than the cubes. the gyros had too much filling. too much feta cheese and tomatoes etc. that over-powered the the amount of the cut up cubed lamb. ok, who complains of too much feta cheese? the lamb was seasoned well, but could have had a stronger flavor. ---my lamb gyros was served with fries but when i asked if there is an option of a salad susbsiitution, i was told there is orzo salad and seasonal vegetable substitution which i chose. 1. the orzo salad is a warm "salad". 2. the seasonal vegetable is grilled asparagus cooked to perfection. dessert: lemonade cake. declared "good" by my dining companion. had a very, very generous serving of whipped cream. the menu is very broad and varied and seems unfocused which always worries me . but our dinner was pleasant and acceptable. recommended. good for dinner if you don't feel like driving far and away. this is a step above the local american style "bistros", but do be aware the prices will also be a step above. read more

When I walked in the the place is open and rather loud and I don't really think it was the crowd so much as it was the design.when you have a big open room there is nothing to absorb the noise. This is a cute little place in Edmonds. They are a seafood restaurant but make a great margarita! We ordered the capri's and pita... So good! For my entree I ordered the prawn gyro. The waitress had an attitude, she seemed annoyed and bothered to take orders, took way too long and lacked common courtesy. Giving it 4-stars because I want to keep this place around. We went tonight and I have to make it known how off the pricing is for the kids meals. I'm glad they have some "real food" options like cod and fries, but charging $7 for penne Alfredo (no chicken... Oh that's right you can add that for a mere $5 more!) when you can get 2 chicken strips or 1 piece of cod for the same price!?! And why not offer a few carrot/celery/bell pepper strip options for sides instead of just fries? My daughter really wanted penne and I REALLY didn't want to spend $12 on it, but I also REALLY didn't want to go home with a daughter who was still hungry and then very quickly cranky. The flatbreads are an okay deal at around $8, but the kids meals need to be re-evaluated. This is a family heavy area and this left such a bad taste in my mouth #figuratively. The food is decent, but the prices are ridiculous for pastas. Hand made isn't really all that appreciated by my kids. Even I don't have the discerning palate for pasta in a box vs handmade. This is by far my favorite local seafood restaurant and this is coming from the daughter of someone in the fishing industry. I grew up with direct access to Alaskan seafood so am pretty picky with quality and usually don't even bother ordering fish at restaurants. This place has a huge variety of seafood and they even have a fairly extensive non-seafood menu as well for all the weirdos that don't like shrimp, crab, etc. ;) Price point is very reasonable, portion size is good and service has always been attentive. This spot is very casual and there's easy lot parking. Great option for families and there's also a lot of bar seating as well. I would come here again and again. 10/10 recommend! read more

First time going to The Hook. My stepdad ordered the veggie burger (I didn't try it but I did try the fries, which were good). My mom and sister got the cod piccata, which was flavorful. I got the charbroiled salmon. It was a little dry on the outside but it was charbroiled so I guess it is what it is. The mashed potatoes were AMAZING. Especially with some lemon squeezed over them. We went to The Hook for a birthday party with a large group of 10-12? We made reservations in advance, so we didn't have to worry about seating when we arrived. The staff was very friendly - very willing to take pictures for us, find he a candle for the cake we brought, talkative, etc. Great customer service. Another thing I really liked about The Hook, was that it very much had a local/neighborhood bar & grill feel to it. Part of that is that it's literally in the middle of a neighborhood, but it's also due to the friendliness of the staff, how packed it was, and how it was a very relaxed vibe. Visited The Hook on Saturday afternoon and though service was good, the meal was comparable to Skippers. Highlights included the house chowder, tarter and steamed clams. All of which had different flavors and textures, unique to The Hook. The area they excelled (nearly earning them 4 ) was service! Robbie our server was tentative and knowledgeable. After reading the reviews for this place we thought we'd give it a try. It's is amazing!! We had the fish and chips and it was delish!! Also ordered the pepper jack cheese sticks which were expensive at 9$ for 3 of them BUT we would pay that much again because they were the best cheese sticks we have ever had. We wanted to go somewhere we haven't eaten at yet. I saw this place the many times I've driven through Perrinville. I used to live out in this area. It's nice to see all the new stores opening out here. We arrived at 5:00 on Friday evening and it was good because it wasn't too busy yet. While we were here thought it got quite busy, so I guess a lot of people like it. We started off with a cup of chowder. I love chowder. But not this one. It had some leaves in it That I did not enjoy. They were hard. And my husband found a stem in his. He referred to it as a "branch". (See picture). I decided to order the special, which was Stuffed cod (crab and scallops)with orzo and veggies. My husband ordered the Hook platter ( battered shrimp , salmon, cod, halibut and oysters). He really enjoyed it! I was not so impressed. The cod was stuffed with something mushy...not fully cooked. It reminded me of grits. There were a few shrimp on top but I could not find any inside and the sauce was rather bland. Veggies were in the cool side. I only like them if they are hot. I wanted so bad to give a positive review. It would have been 2 stars but since my hubby enjoyed his meal I gave it 3 stars. I told my husband it made me sad cuz that's why we went somewhere new.
