I haven't been here in a long time. I ordered the quick lunch which came with choice of soup and salad. The clam chowder had bacon which I think was the reason for being too salty. I chose the house salad with house made balsamic vinaigrette. The dressing though not bad didn't taste like a traditional balsamic recipe. Seemed like mostly extra virgin olive oil. They charge $3.75 for a soda which we were lucky to get one refill at the end of the meal. Next time I come here I won't get the chowder and try a different dressing. read more

This place is a gem in the middle of nowhere which I call Perronville. Not a lot of people know about this town. But the owner is well seasoned in the restaurant business. They have great seafood. Came for dinner. Place was busy but well attended to. All American Burger medium well was make just right. Fries very crispy and hot! Dining companion had the giant prawns panel with the lemon chicken soup. Soup was refreshing and well flavored We started with Parmesan garlic wings. WOW perfect balance of the two flavors. I really enjoy this place for happy hour (3-5) and watching sports. Unfortunately their happy hour ends at 5. Wish it went until 5:30/6. They do have a reverse happy hour that begins at 9pm and ends at 10pm. I also enjoy their gyros! read more

Came on a Saturday afternoon for happy hour. The HH menu is pretty generous, lots of the regular starters on it. We ordered the sliders, crab and shrimp dip with pita, greek fries, bacon mac and cheese, and a Caesar. Everything came out fast and was super tasty - especially that mac, sooo good! I had the blood orange cosmo, spouse had the lemon drop martini. Both quite good and decently strong. And the server was friendly, funny and super capable. I've been meaning to drop a review on The Hook for a while, but after reading the recent review in "My Edmonds News", what better time than now? We come into The Hook on a regular basis, served by Deb and Helen. Both of these ladies are 5 star servers, and go out of their way to make sure their customers are taken care of. Their commitment to customer service and pride of their workplace is evident in the way they interact with all of their customers, from the easy to the challenging. The food...no notes. Favorite dishes include the carbonara (ask for blackened prawns for an extra kick), the fish and chips (best around, and we get around), the crab dip and the super-fresh salads with the addictive house-made basil dressing are top notch. We've had nothing on the menu that we've been disappointed with, and love the rotating specials. Worth a "special" mention is the pulled pork sandwich that we got lucky enough to snag off the fresh sheet, and the battered fries, which are hard to find. The Hook is a locally owned, small business with pride of ownership evidenced in the quality of food, service of the staff and impeccable interior. If you like excellent service, a fantastic menu and to support a local business, give them a try. read more

When i saw this Place, and thinking that their Specialty is mostly Seafoods. I'm eager to try them. But when i order the Hook Platter. So disappointed to see that they use those Groceries Battered Salmon and COD. You go out and expect to eat Fresh Food. I don't mind waiting for it. And i don't know if the Guy on the Fryer knows how to cook Fried Food. Instead of Golden Brown, it's Dark Brown, even the Fries. Server is The Best. Always checking us out. Stopped in for lunch during a soccer tournament and was so pleased with the food quality. Good selection of items to suite most anyone. The warm feta appetizer was delicious and had the softest pita ever. I had the salmon and chips and the waitress recommended trying it with a little cocktail sauce (recommend!) but the home made tarter sauce was AMAZING! Great fries and a very diverse selection of wines and cocktails. Hopefully I will be in the area sometime for happy hour or Taco Tuesday since I heard the scratch margaritas are legit. read more

I tried hard to love this place. Buuut I can't. The pros. Fabulous dessert! We had the 5 mike chocolate cake and the lemonade cake. Delicious. Clam chowder is ok. The base is thin. Not your typical thick filling chowder. Packed full of potatoes and onions. A few clams. It's ok. Not my favorite. The hook platter was good. Nice portion. Slaw was your basic slaw. Now to the con? Burnt BURNT to a crisp beef patties for the table. Mine was the worst I really wasn't able to eat it. My daughters was burnt but only on one side and my sons was ok. We also waited 35 minutes for that burnt food. I can't even explain why because the place only had maybe 4 tables between restaurant and bar. If I'm paying $100 to take my family to lunch I definitely want good food. Unfortunately this place didn't hit that mark. read more

Stopped in for dinner, honestly by accident. Place we intended to eat at, ran out of food. Happy accident. Everything was delicious. We ordered the crab dip with pita for an appetizer. It was very tasty. We both enjoyed our drinks. The strawberry Moscow mule was a great twist on a classic. Our table also ordered an Irish mule, was told it was very good as well. Came by Sunday to watch the Seahawks; staff is very friendly and the drinks were a 4 or 5, but food very average. You'd expect a place with this name would use fresh fish but my cod burger was made with frozen breaded fish.. the clam chowder was terrible, I chewed on a rubbery clam and felt like I had a ball of rubber bands in my mouth. I finally let it slide down my throat. The chowder had a granular texture probably from not making the roux correctly to let the flour cook with butter. Worst I ever had. But must say the bartender did an excellent job and served up some terrific cocktails. Note to self - eat somewhere else first and come by here for drinks and a game. read more

The Hubby and I came to specifically try the FISH and Chips. Mostly because someone I met on the plane back from Alaska recommended the cod here! Thanks Mike!! He Loves The Hook because they use black cod and that's what he fishes for! He wasn't wrong. We tried both the Cod and the Halibut. We both agreed they were both Great but the Cod out performed and was more suited for deep frying! The fries were crispy and the coleslaw was better than 4 other places where I have recently tried the Fish and Chips! Thanks for the suggestion, we will be back! I have to say this was some of the most expensive happy hour food I think I've ever had. Now don't give me wrong it was good but $64 for happy hour two black and fish tacos, two beef tacos, mac and cheese and a blue moon. Seems a little pricey on my end but I guess that's the going rate of food these days. Nonetheless it was a little outside of Mom's budget I'm not sure that I will be venturing back. I took my daughter to the Hook after her graduation ceremony in June. I had raved about this place. Her steak came out raw. We waited 25 minutes for it to come back over fone. Fifteen minutes later, it was finally fine. It was my daughter's graduation dinner after graduating from Culinary school with honors. The waitress seemed to joke it off. We were back! Went for Happy Hour menu last Sunday (3 to 5). While the Happy Hour menu is limited, the prices are bargains. The crab and shrimp dip came hot with a broiled crust and artichokes. Fabulous! The accompanying pita wedges were lame. Would have liked fresh veggies to dip. The Baked Brie was compared to homemade and did not do as well. A special list of exotic cocktails was lots of fun to sample. Even at Happy Hour Special prices, they were considered fancy (pricey). The two salads offered were fresh and enjoyable with scratch made dressing. The freshness of the food can be tasted. Service was 'just right', attentive and friendly. Our server was a pro! It always makes me happy to see a restaurant where you know the owners are giving their all, have thought about the details, have well-trained staff and pride in their food. The Hook has all of the above. The restaurant looks clean and contemporary inside with a nice bar area. No riff-raff customers (except myself), mostly families or couples. We sat outside which has about 8 four-tops and is gated. The server was pleasant and efficient, but I was really happy to see food runners who brought the food as soon as it was ready, and therefore, hot, and bussers who were quick and polite. That's the way it should be; I see too many servers overwhelmed these days, so it was nice to have food runners and bussers, especially during COVID. The food was excellent. I had the NW Cioppino which had fresh clams, mussels, salmon and LARGE shrimp. Great broth and side of cheese bread to dip. Lamb orzo soup was homemade and the sweet potato fries were so fresh and flavorful. The only thing I would change would be more vegetarian options (for my wife). The veggie burger option was good quality, but made to taste like beef, instead of taste like vegetables. And they weren't willing to put a fried egg on the burger for my wife.
