I was told this establishment had great tasting gyros so i immediately dropped everything and sprinted there as fast as i could. It took me a half hour to get there, but it was worth it. The lighting was great, not very noisy, and in general the place was very clean. It took just a few minutes, maybe four, from the time it took to be seated till we got our drinks and food (maybe 4 minutes?) Anyways i ordered the Gyro which was amazing. We live just 1 minute away and can walk to this place in 5 minutes. I ordered a Shrimp Po-Boy - it states on the menu "Cold water shrimp sautéed with onions, red and green bell peppers, served on a toasted baguette. 1. There were no peppers, it was pickled coleslaw. 2. There was NO TOASTED BAGUETTE! 3. It was served on a COSTCO OUTDOOR ROLL. That is NOT a Po-Boy!! I am from New Orleans, born and raised. I have had thousands of Po-Boys in my life. This is FAR from a PO-Boy. The Shrimp was PERFECT! The 3 pieces I got an this 5 inch sandwich were springy and crunchy. The Sandwich, yes Sandwich - NOT PO-BOY NEEDS MORE SHRIMP! A real Po-Boy has 20-30 pieces of shrimp. A PO-BOY is made with simple ingredients. New Orleans French bread - the Vietnamese bread in the PNW is as close as you can find. I order 24 inch loaves from a bakery in New Orleans monthly. Meat, Roast Beef, Ham, Turkey, Catfish, Prawns, Oysters or Shrimp. Want it dressed? Shredded Lettuce, MAYO and Dill Pickle Chips. Want it wet? put some gravy on it. Review based on poorly trained staff. Called ahead to see if there is a wait. Told 30-45 minutes. Asked if my name could be put on the list and we'd see them in 30. Told yes. Packed kids in the car, drove, parked, informed by hostess that they don't have call ahead seating. She apologized for her mistake but would only put us on the bottom of the list to wait another 30-45. Forget it! We've eaten there before. The food is just okay. We only tried it tonight as it's a mile from home. Maybe they will work out the kinks. Maybe they will alienate their neighbors, the wait times will shrink, and you will want to drive to the middle of no where for marginal food. read more

We stopped in on a lazy Saturday afternoon, and we were fairly disappointed with the quality and portions of the food and drinks. It might appear to be a nice restaurant on the exterior, but the interior is effectively a Five Guys with a bar. My husband ordered salmon, and he was surprised when it came encrusted in what appeared to be Panko. He ordered it based off the recommendation of the server who raved about it, and he was pretty disappointed. The meat was almost soggy with oil. I don't eat meat, so I thought they couldn't possibly screw up Linguine Alfredo. It was pretty much white sauce from a jar - or at least that was the complexity of the sauce. It was very disappointing. Our server was inattentive and did not come back to our table for almost twenty minutes after our food arrived. I do not think we will go back. read more

Have gone over twice lately during happy hour to have a $4 pint and bring home some grilled salmon to-go. The atmosphere is great, casual, friendly. Tap selection is good (the usual assortment plus two brews from Big E) and the service is friendly and prompt. If you're looking for an alternative to the Edmonds waterfront, this is it. They have a good and spacious bar with good happy hour prices. They have a neighborhood sports bar feel which I prefer over the waterfront places. I was not disappointed service was great, and the food was excellent. The only hiccup came when our appetizers came at the same time as our entree's. When a kitchen is moving like Hook's kitchen was I'm not too surprised. We did not have a long wait for our food. My brother is a longtime resident of Lynnwood and had never stopped at Hook's but swears he will be returning. Maybe it was an " off" night... this can happen sometimes . My daughter ordered chicken , one of the evening specials. It was supposed to be served with a caper sauce.. she decided to get the chicken , with sauce.. remove the capers. When she cut into the chicken, she could not chew it ( it seemed difficult to chew) and she decided to choose a different menu item. She ordered the salmon (gluten free option )with a side salad. The Salmon was dry and lacked moistness and flavor . I tasted it, and agree... it was overdone and the flavor needed to be enhanced. Though it had some glaze , the glaze was absorbed by the Salmon. I've had Salmon at competing restaurants , and if I return to the Hook, I would not choose the specials . I ordered the Panko crusted fish and chips. It had more flavor than either of her entree specials . They did remove the chicken off of our bill, since she only tried one bite. Their bar selections are vast. While we were there mid week, the restaurant wasn't crowded , and we ate dinner later than usual.. close to 8 pm. With their extensive food menu, most of it , I'm sure, is good . This restaurant has a large following ... which is why I think this may have simply been an off night. They have yummy cole slaw .. and not many restaurants here offer good cole slaw. I usually go in once a week to drink a beer, eat a flatbread, and listen to gossip at the bar during happy hour. Closest place to get a beer from my house. Flatbread is fine. Beer selection is limited, but good. They have American Breakaway IPA on all the time. Something peculiar that has happened a couple times: after I decline a desert menu, they'll put the check in front of me. What if I want another beer? Am I cut off? Do they want me off the stool? It's a little confusing. Perrinville is in sort of a cell service hole, so wifi service for guests would be a nice addition. All in all, I don't love it but I don't hate it. read more

We have always liked The Hook but we are not dining in these days. Ordered two hamburgers to go, with fries. The Crispy Cod burger was lovely, the fries were terrific, and the All American Burger was well prepared except: the menu says it includes sliced bacon but there was no bacon to be found. After rushing the burgers home so that we could eat them while they were still warm, my husband was obviously not going to drive back to ask for bacon. At first I wanted the oyster po-boy, but instead ended up with the prawn gyro. I'm happy I did. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the tzatziki sauce was delicious. I'm not usually a fan of fries, but these were delicious as well. My GF had the penne arrabbiata and she thought it was good, but not a typical penne arrabbiata. Yay - So excited to have a fresh, new, quality restaurant nearby. Have been waiting for The Hook to open for months. Stumbled upon them while doing business today and decided to head back for dinner. We were not disappointed - in the least. Christina, our waitress, was personable, professional and engaging. The atmosphere was great and the menu quite extensive. We selected the crab and shrimp dip with pita bread for an appetizer and would order it again. For appetizers we had the Penne/Prawn Pasta and the Halibut and Chips. Both were big portions and very, very good. Too much food to eat, but excited to have lunch leftovers for tomorrow! Although the wine list has much to offer and the bar is well stocked, a couple of my go-to's were missing. When I jokingly mentioned this to Christine she said the owners have let them know they want this feedback and are eager to keep the bar stocked with favorites for their soon to be regulars. The waiter takes our appetizer and drinks order. Rather than give it to the kitchen and bar, he takes the order for another table. It's not a big place so a few steps away and our order would be in. My companion's entree came without the grilled onions, mushrooms, peppers, etc. that are listed on this regular entree (not a special). The kitchen should not make this mistake and the waiter should catch it. Our bill was brought to the table without asking if we wanted dessert, which we did since it was my companion's birthday. We order dessert. Worst cheesecake I've ever had, so dry I was sure it was just a white cake. The bill comes without the charge for the dessert. I ask the waiter if he was comping us or merely forgot. He said because of the problems the manager was comping. Great! I give him my charge card. The check comes back with a new bill that includes the desserts added back in. Nothing from the waiter about this, he clearly knows because he had to redo the bill. Be honest - either the dessert was omitted or the comp was rescinded. Don't just hand me a larger bill and not explain WTF happened. read more

We ended up at The Hook with a small group on a Saturday evening. The menu is varied--much more than just seafood--and we ended up having a nice time. Good service, very attentive and friendly. We were able to order very quickly, and food came out within 20 minutes. Prices are very reasonable considering portion size, too. We got some very tasty garlic bread while we were waiting for our meal. It seemed fresh baked and had a bit of cheese on top. I had the crispy cod sandwich, which was surprisingly great--the fish was very crispy, but perfectly done, and not greasy at all. The fries were very hot, crispy, and well seasoned. Other dishes at our table included a rack of lamb special, a cod chop chop salad, and cod piccata. Everyone was happy with their meals, though a couple of people noted that the food was a little saltier than expected. We also had dessert--salted caramel vanilla cake and peanut butter cup pie. These were actually very nicely portioned, not too big like you might expect, though they were a little pricey for the portion. Overall, a good experience. We'll be back! read more

The staff is very accommodating, we showed up for a table of 5 for my moms birthday, we had asked for outdoor seating they found us a spot that we could have balloons, flowers and a cake. Everyone of the staff members were great. We had a drink that came from the bar that wasn't made correctly and our waiter Jody he happily took the drink back to bring a fresh one out. He was very sweet, he did everything he could to make sure everything ran smoothly for us. The service was fantastic and the appetizers and drinks were perfect. I really wanted to update my review to 4 stars because we have been back 3 times and the food has improved. However, this was not meant to be. We went last night and I ordered the pork chop which came with your choice of Orzo or mashed potatoes. I distinctly remember and was heard by both of my dinner companions asking for mashed potatoes but guess what? I got Orzo. Instead of making it right, the waiter insisted that I said Orzo and proceeded to check his notes. He came back and said he wrote down house starch and asked if he should take my dinner back. Seriously? My husband then said "maybe you can give her a side of mashed potatoes" which is what he should have offered. After our meal, he came over and smugly said "I paid for your mashed potatoes". OMG! I guess he is someone who will not admit he might have heard me wrong. My daughter also said her cod was chewy. What a nice little joint in Perrinville! I stopped in at happy hour and enjoyed a couple cold Lucille IPAs and a house salad and flatbread from the happy hour menu. The salad was simple but fresh and tasty. Romaine, olives, ripe tomatoes, and a little grated mozzarella with a nice vinaigrette made with fresh herbs hit the spot. The flatbread had roasted garlic and fresh tomatoes and basil. Both dishes were well-made and delicious.
