I told her that I had been hearing some rumblings that Graves Gilbert Clinic was going to be sold, and she said there is some truth to that. Graves Gilbert Clinic has selected T.J. Regional Health as its preferred partner to explore a long-term affiliation. T.J. Regional Health is the parent system of T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The two organizations are now going through the due diligence process and working out the details of what the long-term partnership will look like. No final agreement has been announced yet. However, after my visit, I stopped by Oscar's Fresh Mex Taco Shop in Franklin. They are a Southern California-style Mexican fast-casual restaurant. They remodeled the old Wendy's restaurant down there, and now it is super clean on the inside, with fresh paint, fixtures, tables and chairs, along with very nice LVP flooring. And the men's restroom was super clean. So I imagine the women's restroom is too. That's one of the things I look for when I visit a restaurant. To me, you can tell a lot about whether the owners take pride in their operation by how clean the restrooms are. And apparently, they do take pride in their operation. The food was awesome, and the service was great. I suppose since it is considered fast casual, they serve the food on paper plates with plasticware. But you get free refills on Pepsi products. I had the Wednesday special of loaded quesadillas for $8.99, which came with a soft drink. The portions were very generous, and I was extremely full when I left. And the food was delicious! I only paid $10.25 total, including my tip. On Tuesdays, they offer four Southern California-style street tacos for $7.99 along with a soft drink. I would definitely recommend checking out this restaurant for the current daily-special prices, because those can change. They also offer burritos, nachos, tacos, rolled tacos, combo dinners, street corn, beans, rice, salsa, queso dip, guacamole, bowls and taco salads, chips and dips, fries, breakfast burritos and tacos, and desserts such as churro bites and raspberry cheesecake bites. Oscar's Fresh Mex in Franklin is definitely worth making a drive down there to try their food, even if you aren't going to the doctor! It's located at 527 N. I ate here once back in around 2009. I wanted to return and try it again. I looked beforehand and noticed that they do not allow cards as a form of payment. It's cash only, or you could write a check with a form of ID (so the sign says). You walk in and are told you can sit anywhere you like. A waitress comes and takes your order at the table. They offer all you can eat catfish and coleslaw. I opted for that one "Adult fish plate" for $12.50. The waitress said I could go get coleslaw at a cold bar. The coleslaw was a little sweet for my taste. The food came out and the catfish was plentiful and good. I only could eat one plate. Worthy of note: there is a sign that says "No smoking" but that may have been a suggestion - or smoking was tolerated. Because the table next to me, there was an old grandma with a lit cig smoking. I believe in Kentucky they do have a law that smoking is not allowed in businesses but like I said, this place is isolated and in a hollow, so I doubt any fuss is made about it. We started with the fried cheese ravioli appetizer. Two thumbs up. Way up. And they bring out bread with it that soaks up that extra sauce so well. It is the perfect complement to that appetizer. For the main meal, we went with the Baked Mac Poseidon, Chicken Parmigiano, Meatball Marinara, and Eggplant Parmigiano. The chicken and meatballs here are fantastic. The eggplant was maybe the best I've ever had. Anywhere. The Baked Mac was the only dish I didn't love, and that stems from the fact that I have never liked mixing cheese and seafood. If that's your thing, I say go for it. As a bonus, these guys can make a pretty good Bloody Mary. I'll be back. If you're driving anywhere near the county seat of Logan, it's worth a stop. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
