Honestly some people are so ignorant to the fact that we're dealing with a PANDEMIC. Delays with special orders have nothing to do with the store and has everything to do with the state of our world. You'll see the same delays at Lowes, BestBuy, etc... That being said, this store has always been my go to. People are very friendly and try their best to help. Even though they are putting their own lives at risk by serving the community and coming into work everyday, they still manage to keep a smile on their faces and offer excellent customer service. For the people complaining about things outside of the associate's control, think long and hard about what these people are risking just to help YOU. read more

The Silver Spring MD Home Depot flooring staff has an estimator for flooring visit my home and the resulting estimate frankly has a lie, that I informed the reservation staff my home had no heat nor electricity. I reported no such information, and there was fully operative electricity years prior to the estimators visit, as well as heat and AC, also present at time of the visit. The alleged flooring Supervisor Oneal, who I was finally successful in contacting stated he'd call me back in five minutes and no such call every occurred. Additionally, a prior visit for questions about different flooring types resulted in two (2) individuals dickering as to which one would answer questions. Finally a female staffer rose very slowly from her seat and remained within feet of her desk, as I asked about a preferred color, and stated I had questions about the varied samples. I had to ask her to accompany me about 20 feet to the samples for my specific questions. She appeared to be not knowledgeable about the flooring types, and only suggested if I didn't see the preferred color, then I should choose another color. There was an instance wherein I returned a call to the alleged supervisor Oneal, and was asked why to speak with Oneal: again I stated I was returning a call from him, I then was asked about what: I stated flooring, the individuals then asked what about flooring. I then asked is his being available based on some type screening, and the response was Oneal isn't available, with no message offered to be taken. My experiences tell me: be suspect of the flooring staff, and their estimator agents. read more

Dangerous/Unconcerned Delivery Driver: At about 2:00pm, May 19, in the Woodside Forest neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD, their flatbed truck driver with the license: Maine 2848535 blew through a stop sign of a very busy residential road. There are at least five kids living on this intersection and some of them are known to run around the neighborhood. Not to mention that this is a very dog-friendly neighborhood and neighbors are always out walking dogs. He was then stopped, trying to turn onto Georgia Avenue as the intersection he blew through is close to Georgia Avenue. So I approached his truck and pointed out how he ran through a stop sign. The delivery driver couldn't seem to care less. After several attempts, his reply was "There wasn't anyone there" and "I'm not going to stop for five minutes while there isn't anyone there." Forget five minutes, he didn't stop or even try to stop. No apology. No remorse. When you drive a massive flatbed truck like that, it doesn't matter how big or small the being is, if you hit something it's done. I think Home Depot needs to hire more careful drivers, or train them better if they're delivering to residential streets. Very mad, Home Depot. read more

I had a very difficult time with a woodworking project because the stain I had was so difficult to work with. John at the paint department helped explain why the stain I chose was so thick and really went above and beyond to help me choose the best options for me (and most importantly my budget!) I must've spoken to him for half an hour, and at no point did I ever feel rushed or pressured to buy any particular product! This is saying a lot because at most department stores, I often feel that uncomfortable pressure to purchase whatever has been recommended. I came in dreading the project I had ahead of me, but now I feel excited again! This location is an absolute mess. There's never anyone available for assistance in all the back end departments. Paint, flooring, carpet, you name it, there's no one ever there. If you're doing a pick up order and you're there the night before, they'll tell you they will be ready in the morning. You show up in the morning, no one's ready. read more

After recently buying a house, we've toured many a Home Depot. This Home Depot is fantastic. It's clean and well-lit. Things are almost always in stock. The staff is extremely helpful. The service is also exceptional compared to other Home Depots. The staff is very helpful and I've rarely had to wait on line for a cashier. A few months ago, I had a minor problem obtaining some paint (the color was not the color I requested) and the staff fixed it immediately of no charge and even offered to paint the room for me, since I had already painted it in the wrong color. The manager, who can't be older than mid- to late-20s, seems to really know what he is doing. This store is definitely our favorite Home Depot of the area. read more

I was in home depot to buy a rug. Found the rug I wanted but when I got to the register it would not scan properly. The cashier (Samuel) was kind enough to get the correct pricing. He could see I was walking with a cane and did the leg work for me. I really appreciated his kindness and professionalism, he deserves a raise. Only reason we go to this store is because it is close by but it is the worst home depot we have been to. People giving this store 5 stars must be getting paid or have gotten real lucky. Stock is horrible, employees absolutely not knowledgeable except for a very few exceptions. Today did it, none of the self check out working so we stand in a regular line and btw no lights were on showing you if they are open on not. So we are told to go to one line and getting there and waiting for the prior customer to be done are told I am closed. Explain to dumbo that we were send there but no go. Said it before and will say it again, drive the extra 10 to 15 minutes and go to Lowes in Laurel or drive an extra half an hour or so and go to the home depot on Rt 40 at least there the employees are knowledgeable and friendly and their stock is way better. read more

I am highly disappointed in Home Depot. I purchased a standard refrigerator for my family during the Christmas holidays. Everything seem fine until the delivery process. The first attempt to my home they had the wrong refrigerator. The second time they missed the appointment time and date. The third time which is now in mid-January they finally got it right. The funny thing about this is every time they made a mistake each department blame each other. For example, the delivery guys blamed the manufacturer, the manufacturer blame the delivery company and Home Depot blamed the manufacturer and delivery company. Finally, after 3 failed attempts Home Depot was able to get it right and provide me with a discount for my troubles. Please remember that I had to take time off during those attempts. I would have preferred no discount and appliance arriving on time. This whole process took over 2 1/2 months!!!! I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS HOME DEPOT AGAIN! read more

So - I've been to ACE, Lowe's and several Home Depots (Falls Church, Laurel, Aspen Hill, Merrifield, etc...) This one is better for MOST aspects. Most of their customer service is good, though I will say I have run into a few folks that couldn't be bothered to provide assistance. Their Kids Workshops are awesome. For the most part they have nearly everything I need. I will say that I read one report about Bells Nursery vs. Home Depot. I too have had several plants die -- some of the same species that I planted 5' apart. I dig 'em out of the ground, put them in a plastic bag and take them back. I've done this at both Broadbirch and Aspen Hill. But they do die more than most. They did give me a bit of grief and asked about the original pot and WHAT the plan was, I said - I planted it 4-5 months ago, so the pot was at the recycling place, and as far as species - I had no clue. Got full $$ back. They do need to have more "EXPERTS" and not just 'some guy' in each department. Kind of frustrating to have to go to PRO services or Customer Services every time you need something answered of a technical nature. read more

It had been a while l'd shopped at Home Depot and I noticed a big change. Bought a dishwasher: it was fast and painless the sale person was very nice and professional. Asked about a product and another sale person helped me to find it quickly. Picked up an order fast and quick and was able to pay for my new merchandise at the order pick up register. They offered me help right when I was leaving store which was a big surprise. Hopefully, they keep up with the great job. read more

Ok, this should be no stars but you have to give one or you cannot leave a review. The Silver Spring Home Depot received my on-line order for a Maytag Washing machine because they are my closest HD. I will say, they did their best to try to help me but were unable to because of HD policy and Maytag's taking no responsibility for making a product that will not do what it is supposed to. DO YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT RETURN ANY LARGE APPLIACE TO HD? You have 48hrs to find a defect or damage in which case they send a factory tech. But the washer I chose on line will not spin out the water sufficiently to allow for proper drying. This will cause unnecessary wear on the dryer. The tech they sent said " that's all this machine will do, it's working as designed". I have been informed by Maytag it is up to HD to decide to exchange it for an upgrade, which I was willing to pay for. HD told me they cannot do anything without approval from Maytag, which they told me Maytag will not give. Catch 22 for the consumer, with a side of frustration! Home Depot should make it MUCH more clear that if you order a large appliance from them you will be stuck with no ability to up grade or return. I would have bought elsewhere!! If I could rate this store a zero, I would. Mind numbingly incompetent. Ordered materials for a delivery, explicitly stated for an exact date. It's almost end of day and nothing has been delivered. Called in, an incompetent answered a phone who could not figure out what happened. Transferred me after 15 minutes of trying to figure things out. Another conversation which lead to a "oh this looks bad, we have had this happen a few times already!" - really? Why didn't you fix it the first time? Long story short, we had to make two trips of our own to get everything because everyone we spoke with was too slow and incompetent to figure out why our order wasn't picked up by a delivery truck. The issue here is that they knew of the continuous issue of orders not being picked up for other customers and never fixed it, they let this happen multiple times. We lost hours of time and labor working out this issue. Incompetent store, management and employees who need to spend more time learning their jobs and responsibilities than sit on the phone or whatever it is they do during work time. Or better yet, a REAL favor would be to follow my advice and FIRE their f'in asses because a loser is a loser. read more

Another angry customer. They sell a bad product, and won't honor their sale and take it back. Details below. This Home Depot sold my home contractor four special-order storm windows which were not correct for the windows in my home, with the screens on the inside (instead of outside the windows like every other window in the world, which allow you to open the window without first pushing the screen all the way up). These "triple track" windows they sold me (designed apparently for people who would want to be able to open the top of their windows) are exceedingly hard to open and close with the screens in place due to my house having "fixed" upper windows, which is typical of older homes requiring storm windows, due to the mechanism to unlock and bring the screen back down again thus being nearly out of reach behind the locked upper window. Long story short, they sold us the wrong product, and won't remedy with replacement. They instead blamed my contractor, even though they admitted that their catalogue didn't inform that the screens were on the inside. They also told me to call the manufacturer, which of course was of no use since the windows were "designed that way," and hence the manufacturer offers no remedy. The Home Depot needs to provide necessary details about the products they sell, and if they don't and as a result sell products that are unsuitable, they need to own their negligence and take their product back. They refused to do this in my case because these were "special order" storm windows (ordered to the size of my windows), and they don't want to eat the cost of their negligence. As a result I'm stuck with storm windows that don't work well and may result in injuries in the future trying to get the storm screens back down after raising them to open the storm windows. This negligence and possible harm, of which I made them aware, apparently doesn't concern them. "Profits before people" should be their new store motto. Poor service + no responsibility = a lousy store. read more

Came in for a tree (just two days before Christmas) and found one that I thought would work. Brought it up front to be cut and bagged. A young man named Anthony took the tree while I went to get a cart. He came over to me and asked if I had inspected the tree well because he noticed one side had a LOT of branches missing at the bottom. I hadn't noticed it at all! He made a suggestion on how he could shape it up and was able to masterfully make the tree look great! Christmas angel! He certainly went above and beyond and saved me from the disappointment of showing up home with a messed up tree!!! read more

Before anyone appeared to help, two workers arrived to tell me I had to leave the aisle. I replied that I was waiting for lumber to be cut so that I could then buy it. They replied, "We don't work for lumber," and proceeded to close the aisle. I replied, "No, you work for Home Depot, and you've lost both a sale and a customer." read more

On 05/11/2020, I encountered a problem with the self-check isle at this Home Depot location. While scanning the items that I was trying to purchase one of the employees decided to come less than 6 feet from me and watch me scan every item I had. Why so close I do not know. She did not offer any assistance for my transaction nor was she wearing a mask. This needs to be addressed in light of the the current COVID-19 pandemic. What a mess, both this store and Home Depot writ large; three days of phone calls, usually dropped, about why they would not honor their promo for free carpet installation. Never got a clear answer. Now in "negotiation" about paying the FULL balance BEFORE the installation, which is NOT going to happen. I've spent more time online and the phone than the install will take. One more attempt and I'll abandon the effort. The "national" web site apparently operates with only limited coordination with the local stores, and the local stores can't see quotes "assigned" to other stores. I drove to one, risking COVID, to get this mess cleared up and was told to visit the "other" store. Phone contact is very spotty. Of multiple contacts, only one person actually returned a call as promised. Save yourself some grief and time and get carpet from a local business. read more

This store needs a competitor. The employees are largely extremely unhelpful and the stock is frequently not displayed or no one can find it. I went there twice this week for carpet squares -- online said there were 24 boxes -- there were actually two, but no one was willing to bring them down. The shelf I wanted couldn't be located, although it was listed as in-stock. The check out lines routinely have over ten people waiting to pay. It's like there is no management and no oversight of inventory or employees. More often than not this store is a waste of time and very frustrating. read more

Went to Home Depot to order windows today. Had a great experience with Justin who went above and beyond even as far as help me during his lunch break. Unfortunately my experience with M.O.D. Jose Ungus left me beyond frustrated. Sadly the management in this store is horrific. Omg this Home Depot is crowded from the minute you enter through the doors. As a matter of fact it's crowded before you enter through the doors because the number of carts overflow to the point where you have to maneuver passing to get inside of the store. Prices of great though. So I would focus on prices and the variety of items. After all, you're there to make Home Improvements not look at what the store has done aesthetically. But still there's not a lot of space to get by in the aisles. There's always too many annoyingly placed Cardboard Displays/ Custom Point of Sale (POS) Displays placed in the way in the aisles, which is usually the point of these things but this is just going too far..... I mean they do want customers to at least pass by each other without ramming the edges of our court carts into each other and taking off our hands or bumping purses as we go, right? read more

Was passed by 6 associates that did not ask me for help or say a word. I am counting one associate twice as he passed me twice. I ended up leaving with a $5 wax ring and leaving my cart with about $900 worth of product near the front on my way out. The next day I purchased those items at Lowe's in Columbia. I can see from the lack of response to the other posts that Home Depot does not really care and their stock is doing well....but still wanted to vent my crappy experience incase it may help someone. read more

Very disappointed with Home Depot of Silver Spring Md today. My family and I bought over 40 plants and trees between 2-3 days. My sister wanted to update her landscape for her sons graduation party. I told her about the plants and tress at Home Depot were I buy all my plants. I planted all of her plants and trees, but some of the plants started to die. I was not worried they come with a year guarantee. WRONG!! They would not take them back, and would not give me store credit because they said it's not their plants. I said are you crazy I bought them here. They said Bells Nursery owns the plants and Home Depot will not help. I know I lost the receipt but they still had the Home Depot and Bell Nursery tag, but they will not help me. That doesn't work for me, and frankly I feel that it is unacceptable. I felt bullied by the store manager Steve, and I think it is ridiculous that I can not return their item and they are passing the blame on to Bells Nursery. Right now, I am extremely displeased with this company and would never recommend this silver spring Home Depot to anyone looking to purchase any plants or trees. I placed my order online to save myself time. I got a text my order was ready for pick up at the CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK. After waiting in line where they took the guy behind me first, and then waiting while the clerk could not find my order in the computer--even though I gave her the same phone number they sent the text to--I find out my order is at the Pro desk. The clerk asked someone to go get my order. So I waited a few minutes more and then asked if I should go get it myself, and I was told she would go when she finished what she was doing since she was in the middle of something before I got there. Ok, I get that, but why wasn't I given a choice to go myself or wait? I went to the Pro desk--all the way at the opposite end of the store--only to see there was nobody there. But my order was there--a large order so I easily saw it. Since it was pre-paid and since I figured I had done enough waiting, I just grabbed my order and left. So much for the convenience of ordering online to save myself time! There are two other Home Depots nearby. I'll try one of the others next time. Oh, how I wish there was a Lowe's nearby! read more

Much better than the madhouse that is the Aspen Hill Home Depot. The location is a bit hidden off of Route 29 in the Colesville/White Oak area of Silver Spring. I've always found things in stock and the best part is the employees, whom when asked where something is will stop what they are doing and will actually walk with you to show you where an item is.
