Inside as you go in this place has and sells perennials , And other type of Garden Flowers . They sell Fruitz Vegetables , Mulch , Top Soil bags plus they used to sell Organc Apple Cuderz during summertimes which I was disappointed they discontinued that . i loved getting apple cider there at one time or another . This has been a while snce I have been there since the pandemic. This was my return back after 6 years . I turned in my resume to try to get a job there I love customer service and being a string hand there . Plus building customer relations there to make customers feel welcomed, At Home , And Make Them Feel Like Family There again . I like to build bridges to all walks of life that come in there . What happened during the Covid Pandemic it was unlawful inexcusable unprofessional Reprehensible, Disrespectful, Unjustifiable, And down right wrong. The behaviors we Americans were all at fault fir the bad behaviors of the past. We have a chance once agajn to show we are the better men . This is our time to prove it . That why this place nedds iyr patronage once again to come together as a community to build business for them again . I have ideas to add for business there for people's gardens , Sell Bird Feeders , Bags of Bird Seed and bird houses to put in people gardens back at home tgat might increase sales 70% . Plus maybe we should sell cards and for occassions to go with the assorted Flowers they sell . This place is the best place to come to gardening supplies and flowers and more . They have the best family staff you could ever come to know. The father who owns this place he is a honorable man that has generations of family that help there . I would be honored to call that family my family . I hope they'll give me a chance to work there and show what I can do to be a great asset to the family team . When all communities come there plalease have yourself a gardening supplies fun time there abd ame time to shop and have a good time there . If you love this place as I do, This place is for you. Super friendly staff! Nice variety of seasonal plants and staff are willing to advise. They load all mulch bags for you. Prices are somewhere in the middle- some standard, some lower and some higher than other nurseries in the area. But quality has been great on all my purchases. read more

Used to love this place. Have been going for 7 years--plants and mulch. Friendly employees back then. I've noticed it going downhill for a while, which is really sad as this was my go-to. No one knows plant names or has any info if you have a question. It's as if they don't really care. Rude employee on my last visit convinced me no more purchases there. Because i live in a town home, I have limited opportunity for growing things... mostly flowers and herbs. I came to this nursery with a friend who lives nearby. What a delight. They had great local farm produce (the peaches, tomatoes and green beans were excellent!) as well as the plants you would expect from a nursery. I will be shopping there frequently during the summer and when next Spring arrives, they will be my go to place for ornamental flowers and herbs. We got a late start this year with our garden, but never fear! J.R. Wright and Sons still has plants, and it was a nice surprise to find several varieties of pepper plants, including ghost, jalapeno, habanero, and a mild one called dragon roll. It's hard for me to even give this nursery even one star given the service I just received this morning. I bought over $100 worth of plants about a month ago and all are doing well except for two plants. One hibiscus is ok- but not great. The other dead. Showed photos to a guy there who was completely rude saying "What do you want me to do- give you a free plant so you can kill it again? I don't control the weather". He walked away. When I suggested a replacement, he said that he doesn't work like HD a big store that can do that bc of how they buy their plants as small business owner. I bought my Christmas tree here last night and the guy there was a huge help. He sawed of branches, wrapped my tree in netting, put it on top of my car, rang me up -- all with a smile and a great attitude. I bought a plant there that said Brunnera m. "Sea Heart" on the yellow JR Wright & Sons marker they placed in it. The price said $22.00. However, come to find out, the plant was actually of the Great Mullein (Weed) or Lambs Ear variety with fury leaves. Either of which may have cost less money if the correct marker had been in there. Should you go there, be well educated beforehand. A large pretty plant may fool you into paying a fake or mistaken large price. read more

Awesome local owned nursery off New Hampshire Ave. They have a plethora of flowers at amazing prices. I got two pots of creeping petunias, two pots of marigolds and two pots of impatiens all for $10. That would easily have been double at Lowes or Home Depot. In addition, they have great produce and a vast array of vegatable plants. Bought a Christmas tree here. I have never been able to find a Christmas tree that would last through Christmas with the majority of its needles intact, so I don't know what mystic voodoo they did to keep this tree in such good condition through the holidays but it worked. Very friendly service. My wife had been there before looking for a bushel of apples and they remembered her and hooked her up right after we bought the tree. I can't wait to go back in the spring to see what new items they'll have available. read more

I headed out this afternoon to find a nursery that had a good selection of plants, as the covid-19 ordeal seems to have limited the plants available this spring. I found JR Wright through Google, read good reviews, so that's where I headed. It was a great experience! They had an impressive selection of plants, and their employees were kind and helpful. One young woman brought flats to hold my plants, and then carefully packed them into the flats for me. Another pleasant surprise was frequent watering cans, so when you pick that perfect plant, but it's bone dry, you can water it. So simple, but sooo welcome! Then I discovered they also sold fresh, local produce! So I loaded up on very tasty tomatoes, red onions, and peaches - all sampled, all delicious. The best part was when I checked out - I could not believe how low the total was! I have been keeping the same garden for decades, so I know that what I had on my cart, at another nursery, would have totalled up to around $300. My total was half that. This is now, officially, my favorite nursery! read more

J R Wright & Sons nursery has the freshest vegetables and herbs and is a great place to get a fresh Christmas tree. They have a super friendly staff that is always ready to help. I was there last week when three Montgomery County School buses pulled up. The students were all Special Needs kids and were all so excited to pick out Halloween pumpkins. This was great to see. Even more amazing was that when the kids finished picking out all their treasures Mr. Wright donated all of them. You don't see this with The Big Box stores. It is so nice that small family owned businesses are still out there. They show the heart and goodwill that is so needed today. read more

Can't believe I haven't stopped in to this place before! Intead, of stopping by this ultra convenient nursery, I had been trekking out to Home Depot and paying 2-3 times more than I was charged at J.R. Wright and Sons. They open bright and early (8 am), and I felt like I could have spent hours walking around looking at their various vegetable plants (multiple tomato, pepper, eggplant, squash, zucchini, cucumber varieties) as well as herbs galore. I got a pepper plant for just $1.69, which is incredible, considering I paid at least twice that for a plant I bought at Home Depot a month or so ago. In addition to veggies, they had strawberry and melon plants, flowers galore, and every type of potting soil or mulch you could think of. The plants looked strong and healthy, which is great, since I tend to kill anything that looks wimpy or undernourished. The service was quick and friendly, so I'll be back ASAP...maybe even this afternoon! I asked about hours, and they said they're open 8-7:30 M-F, and 8-6 on Saturdays and Sundays. read more

The variety of plants and the low prices cannot be beat. As I load up my car, I'm told not to rush planting until all frost is gone.
