Tldr: Be careful about Stradler Nurseries employees stealing from your home! I would not hire them to do any work at your home if you have anything of value outside your home. Stradler Nurseries came to plant trees on the border between my HOA (Armistead Park) and the HOA next door (Fairfax Landing). As I walked home from dropping my kids off at school at about 9:30am yesterday, I saw a Stradler employee with his coworker picking fruit off my tree and pocketing them IN BROAD DAYLIGHT! Keep in mind that I have a sign saying not to pick because it is stealing. As I approached, they quickly walked away so I could not talk to them, but one of the employees came back the next day with his boss so I confronted him then. After confirming they work for Stradler Nurseries, the employee suddenly said he couldn't speak English. Finally, the employee admitted he was at my house but he was "just looking at the fruit" but not stealing them. The boss repremanded his employee but took no other action. But then why did he gave giant orange fruit in his hands as he walked away?? I'm very disappointed in this company. read more

Such a sleeper! At first site you don't realize how big it is but Stadlers is MASSIVE! They had so many outdoor plants even in October. The staff is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I purchased an Eastern Redbud in September 2019. Stadler delivered and planted. The tree is not doing well at all. It doesn't appear to have grown any. Very few buds and tiny leaves again this year, bare brittle branches. I reached out to Stadler, their advice ultimately was "give it more water" and call somebody else, an arborist. So it appears not only do they not know trees, they don't stand behind them. Yes, I know my one year guarantee was up. They made that clear. I was just looking for advice. Did not even offer to come look at my tree. I paid $350 for the tree, after discounts. I referred them to a family member last fall. I hope they have better luck than I did. I was a customer for Stadler for over 10 years but I recently had an experience with Claire McGarty a designer that has left a bad taste in my mouth. She was assigned by Stadler and came to my house on 3/26/21. She took my money for consulting and it is 4/20/21 and she is still not delivered. She has been snippy all along and today she stepped over the line and became obnoxious. She commented about my house. She refused to return my money. I have complained to Stadler Garden Center. In case you are looking to consult Claire stay away from her. She is rude, obnoxious, and has no work ethic. It is too bad that she came to represent Stadler but I will never ever visit Stadler and give them my business. read more

This nursery has beautiful plants. I was looking for yellow roses and called everywhere and they were the only ones around who had yellow. When I arrived I was immediately asked if I needed help and they assisted me with picking and loading up my 8 rose bushes. When leaving my car would not start and Chuck who works there saw that and offered to help me and literally pulled out his tools and fixed my car along with help from Carlos, did I mention it was raining too! This place has wonderful people working there. You can tell it's a special place with great customer service and employees who like their jobs. We all need to support this local business. I purchased 3 trees from Stadler and they planted the trees for me as part of their tree sale. The work was very professional.

I have used this nursery for purchasing shrubs and trees for the last 7 years. They have beautiful specimens, which have done very well over the years. I have only lost one, and that was after a scorching hot summer. They tell you to keep the receipt, and even have you sign off that you understand this is the way they honor refunds, like all businesses do. I showed them the receipt, and they planted another beautiful tree for free. No hassle. I have checked prices around the area, and they are the most reasonable considering the quality of their plants. I actually drive past 4 other landscaping businesses, and it takes 30 minutes to get there, but I know it's worth it. In addition, their customer service is great. Sometimes, I just need advice, and they are happy to answer any questions I have. read more

Excellent in every way! Not only did Stadler plant and mulch five shrubs, but they created a bed for them, which was unexpected, but much appreciated. AND, they helped me decide what type of shrub to plant, picked them out, and gave me instructions on how to take care of them. I could not have asked for better, friendlier, knowledgeable, and responsive service. Priscilla Parker did an amazing job of designing the landscaping for a very large yard. We have hills, excessive water and drainage and flat areas to deal with. Even with the complicated landscaping requirements she custom picked the appropriate plants with amazing accuracy as to future growth. She inspected all the plants that arrived which were exactly what we ordered and took into consideration the complicated watering system that was to be installed. I got a Groupon for this nursery and used it with no hassle whatsoever. We got 4 flowering plants ($2.99-5.99), two pots ($3.99-6), weed-n-feed ($39.99 for liquid) and 1 lovely mature basil start ($2.99). Their pre-potted plants are kinda pricey but very well done. Hanging baskets were full and lovely ($29.99 and up). Their clay pots and fancy pots range from $3.99 and up and are in range with other private nurseries in the area. They have lots of cute little gifts for gardeners. Their plants look healthy and ready to bloom which means they were brought up well from seeds. The greenhouse is very cute, well displayed products and the staff is friendly. To address the previous grievance, the receipt clearly explains their policies. They offer free labor to come out and replace any products that do not meet their standards and they will not charge for labor to do so. I wasn't confused at all by the clarifications and was impressed they will cover plants and trees for up to a year! Overall, I was impressed and will stop in again! Well let me tell u purchasing here is awesome cus receiving money is easy for anybody, the problem arrives when like three months later a 350 dollar tree that they've planted dies and u loose the receipt. You think that since they have computers that keep all ur info they will keep records of a 3000 dollars purchase of plants and trees. Well no refund (witch we were not expecting without a receipt) but at least an exchange of the dead tree for a live one. This is a wrong decision against customers that purchase this expensive trees or plants trees wont die right away they will take a while and while waiting u have to save this paper that u think they have in their records cus you spent so much money. Boo to you stadler ur personal is friendly and helpful but your return or exchange policy sucks on expensive items like trees.its all about customers satisfaction not about ripping people of their money with trees that u planted and died. read more

The first batch of trees that they planted for us weren't properly planted and thus, died. We worked with Stadler to get replacements, but wanted to plant them in the fall which they agreed to and we organized to have people on site to monitor the installation to make sure it was done properly. When the date rolled around, they changed the planting date. They showed up and were about to start planting our $1000 maples in the wrong size hole without soil amendments. They were confronted by one of our neighbors... and the planting guys said, yes that they knew that the tree wouldn't survive in this condition, but since they were caught, they would dig bigger holes and put in the soil conditioners. I followed up with Dave Stadler to let him know what happened as a professional courtesy that their crew wasn't reflecting well on the company and he writes back: "Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy the trees! Dave" This lack of integrity is appalling to me--doing the right thing even when no one is watching?? Why anyone who is in the business of using living plants to make the world beautiful has such a blatant disregard for the survival of the plants is distasteful. There are lots of other nurseries. I was very disappointed when I called and asked to extend the deadline on a groupon I had purchased by one day because I was out of town. I was quickly told by the manager no way. I thought that was poor business practice since the whole point of a groupon is to bring in new customers. Stadler staff was professional and courteous during our initial inquiry as to what would be conducive to our needs. The two gentleman that planted the 4 trees were receptive to our requests as to where we wanted them planted and did a great job of edging the bed when finished. We purchased 3 large trees in April during their promotion which included free planting. The trees were planted with care and everything looked great. One birch did not leaf out due to the harsh winter. Manuela went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied with another replacement tree. We have shopped here for years for smaller shrubbery but this was our first experience with large trees. We are extremely satisfied. read more
