Another landscaper wanted 500 - 1000 dollars just to consult and draw a pretty picture of what our yard *could* look like. Then I reached out to BAM's. Initially I reached out just about the front and side yards and sent them pictures. They offered me quote based on what I wanted done (spring cleanup and mulch installation), and I accepted. They quickly got me scheduled and when the day came, they did just an amazingly efficient job (much, much faster than I ever thought possible) and a very thorough one (it wasn't just fast, it was well done). The three guys who did the work were just incredibly friendly and professional, and did the beds in the backyard too, much to my very happy surprise (the quote wasn't in fact limited to the front and sides, but I was so overwhelmed with what I thought were the worst parts of the yard, I neglected that fact). My wife can now walk outside without feeling overwhelmed about all there is to do. I would work again with BAM's in a heartbeat.

I did not want to drudge up more drama or for this business to threaten to disclose my private information and address. There's a reason I waited until I moved across the country to post this reviewed. I was scared! Giving this business your credit card is a carte blanche for them to rack up charges. You are not charged for each visit, but for months at a time. The explanation is that weekly visits are not guaranteed, but your contract guarantees them weekly payment. I was charged extra to weed wack part of my yard that had a gradual 6-in elevation difference and therefore was not mowed or edged for months. No permission was sought of course for this extra charge.

I contacted Nature's Friends to sort out my issues and Cliff was over at my house in no time. He talked through any prior water retention issues I had, and came up with a plan to future proof our house from any flooding that could happen with big storms. The crew were back out within a few days and executed the plan as Cliff specified. The laborers placed one of the pop-ups a little too close to the house, and without any intervention, the day-of-supervisor spoke with me to let me know they would extend it according to plan, and corrected everything. They also replaced my sump pump, which was not the easiest thing due to a seized grate closure (see pics), and at a fraction of the price quoted by plumbers. I was really impressed with how quick everything was completed, and for a job like this (digging long trenches to run PVC), my yard looks nearly immaculate. They gave me instructions to heal the grass patches so my lawn would look as it did before in no time. After the work was done, Cliff reached out to make sure all was working well when it rained. Cut and removed 1 large elm tree and three spruce trees. Instead of just trimming them he removed several large branches basically ruining their appearance. Left way too many large chunks of wood from stump grindings. The good: Impressive equipment and crew size, very quickly went to work cutting down large maple, the man in the lift was very impressive at maneuvering around cutting limbs before cutting main trunk. The man operating the vehicle feeding the limbs into the chipper was impressive as well. The bad: destroyed the appearance of my two maple trees by deck, were supposed to raise so that my lawn guy could mow under them without hitting his head, instead they totally removed main branches totally changing the trees appearance and removing our shade in late afternoon. Left a mess of roots and chipped wood after I had paid an extra $500 to have that removed.

Finally, and more importantly, we were told that they "do not have tools" and so cannot move the soil across the side walk. I made clear multiple times that we live in a row home and do not have a driveway - I was never told that they cannot bring the soil across the sidewalk into the front yard. So I was left to move the soil myself into the yard (despite being pregnant and telling them that). The woman on the phone was unbelievably unhelpful and just told me that the website said they "can only dump the soil." That's not very helpful in terms of understanding that they cannot move the soil across the sidewalk. This company should not cater to row homes. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere for an on time delivery in a reasonable location.

We hired Green Earth Landscaping/VirginiaPonds.com in Sept 2018 to build a backyard fish pond…read more We are disappointed with how the project turned out, we have had multiple waterfall leaks, they punctured the liner twice & we found that the company had issues with communication, time management, customer satisfaction, including sloppy work & dishonesty at times. The project was planned for 3 days & was not finished the first time until 8 business days later. After leaks & issues it took 4 mos total before it was 'done'; however it still wasn't complete & didn't meet the contract. They punctured the liner in 2 places (& did not disclose 1 patch which gave us problems in March 2019). They had to rebuild part of the waterfall that was leaking & we have just discovered that the waterfall is STILL leaking (April, 2019). To remedy the depth building issues their only solution was to raise the pond liner straight up around the exterior of the pond & leave the liner exposed (~15 feet). My husband spent at least 2 weeks fixing the pond to raise the water level and remove the tripping hazards and repair our yard. We bought at least 100 bags of top soil, bought & spread new grass seed, bought & installed at least $300 of rock to remedy the tripping hazard around the pond & raise the water level. The first time the pond was filled the water was very murky. Owner stated they had washed the rocks & anything remaining would settle & be fine. After weeks of not settling & a few times asking, they finally cleaned the gravel during the pond patch repair. Prior to that I could see the layers of dirt on the rocks and there's no way they washed it on the first day & left that much muck remaining. DESIGN: We requested & received a 10x20' pond w/ a waterfall. We wanted a fish pond & were left w/ a water garden. There are two 4'x10' wide shelves on the left & right sides of the pond. The front & back shelves are 2' wide connecting those 4' shelves. Pond was intended for fish & we have 4 fish that are 2' long. We are left w/ a 4'x8' second depth of the pond (minus 2' for big rocks) so 2'x6' for fish & plants to winter. * The left side of the pond ranged from almost 8" to ~10" (but 3'x10' of it is 8"). My husband had to move the skimmer door & overflow valve to get it from 7 to 7.75 inches deep (why didn't they notice the lack of depth or move the skimmer?). During construction & after the shelves were built the owner told us the pond would be 12" deep all around. When I complained about the finished depth of 8" he said that Aquascape says it only needs to be 8-10" so this is "done" (even though he promised & thought it would be 12"). The 8-10" (mostly 8") is on a 4' shelf, not a standard 8-12" wide shelf. The 8-10" depth is unacceptable considering the shelf size. Multiple other contractors who saw the pond told us we have an "ornamental pond" not a pond for fish. * The owner also told us the 2' wide shelf they created is required per Aquascape guidelines, which is not accurate. * To get 8" deep on the left side of the pond the owner had to come back multiple times to pull up liner, leaving the liner straight up in the air (exposed). He stated this is a finished product (which is in violation of the contract). Owner told me they would use the gate near the pond & would lay plywood to protect the lawn. This was far from true. The equipment was HUGE & they had to use the far gate, destroying 1/2 of our backyard & a path in the front. We paid extra for excavation (b/c of a hill), but the pond wasn't dug deep enough. We paid extra for dirt removal, but they left at least 1/3 of the dirt to fill the torn-up yard & we still had to buy 100 bags of top soil to fill in all the ruts & unevenness of the yard. I constantly had to reach out for a status. If the owner said they were coming tomorrow, they wouldn't show up & it would be another week or more until someone showed up. Character limit prevented me from writing all the issues we had - this is ~1/2.
