I have been a visitor at this HD for over a decade now. Whenever there's inventory missing in Hackensack location, usually I find it here. Same happened with my most recent purchase of snow blower. It was available at this location but not in other nearby ones. After I out in my order, it was fulfilled within an hour. It was very impressive quick service. Upon arrival at the store, I parked at curbside pickup area, checked in through the app and the associate came out couple of minutes later. She helped me with putting the blower in the trunk. It is easy to see why Home Depot gets disgraceful reviews. Stores of this size and magnitude should very rarely run out of ice melt or shovels when there is a serious weather event and they have plenty of notice nearly 3 weeks notice, and they sat on their hands and they didn't order. It seems to be something that occurs in all the Home Depot's miss management at its highest because stores that size should be ordering for the area that they're in such as Paramus, Lodi, Hackensack and the next closest one is Patterson, but if I were a regional manager I would've ordered a tractor a trailer of all different types of ice melt whether it be calcium chloride or whatever other products that are out there, but I wouldn't wait until the last week and try and make an order and get enough for the people that are coming to my store and I know what the excuse is gonna be and it's just unacceptable when you have 2 to 3 weeks of advanced notice there is no excuse that is mismanagement. What is sad is that after being contacted by the Home Depot representative? They put a site to go to for further comment but when you click on it, it doesn't even open so I would hope that that manager or whoever sends the information he's trying to get to me to my email which is toma3729@gmail.com read more

Bad . My door was ordered and came in with the wrong opening . Supposed to be from left to right. But was from right to left. I cancelled it. They still owe me my deposit . One month for the order to go through and another month I did not get my deposit . Disgusting. Service is terrible. Bought dryer from Home Depot but had problems with delivery persons. The day they deliver and install my dryer they told me to install/replace the semi-rigd dryer duck myself. I told him that he has to install it because I paid for the parts and installation. He hesitated by eventually installed it. Ask them also to test leak the gas connection but they did not. The head guy was so arrogant & rude. I guess because he was not able to save some work. After installing the dryer they just rust out fast without giving me copy of the install order or did not let me see and sign the order form. After they left, I see the damage they cause my stairway with scratches and dents by their appliance carrier. Called home depot customer service and gave me their insurance administrator (Sedgwick) witch is very hard to contact and very difficult to file claim will reject and block your application either on their site or online very deceptive company. Just finished the survey, and the Paramus store got all 10s from me. So I figure I'd give a shout out here on Yelp. I needed two items and placed an order for pick up after work. I hardly waited at the customer service desk/online order pickup area before a rep asked me if I needed assistance ('Beau' on apron). He was friendly and polite when he entered my order number into the system. My stuff was already ready and right there, just like my email notification said it would be. I was out of there under 10 minutes. I definitely SAVED TIME ordering online - this a pretty large store and it would have taken me longer if I grabbed products from the aisles and went through self-service. I ordered online a refrigerator and paid for the Date selection and a room of your choice to be put in. First they delivered a week early and never emailed or called. So my wife came home from work and there it was in our driveway. I called and was on the phone for at least 45 mins and nothing could be done that night had to call back in the morning. When I called back was on phone for almost an hour and they could not help. They couldn't get someone to come over and put in house. I even suggested someone from the local store and after waiting a few minutes was told they couldn't do that. So I said I want to return it and use a company that is confident. It was very easy for them to set up the return, but not have someone come to put in the house. This is totally unprofessional and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I don't understand how it was easier to lose the sale then fix the mix up. read more

Located on, the always busy, Route 17-North. It should be avoided, unless you're in the area. This location has plenty of parking, and seems to be less busier than other Home Depot's I placed my order online, and went in to pick it up. I had to wait for them to put it together even though I placed the order less than hour before. I could have just went in, and bought it myself instead. read more

Lots of parking and quick service CONS: I saw one supervisor yelling at this older employee at the top of his lungs. Very embarrassing for the worker and awkward for the crowd of customers around. Everyone complains about poor service but I'd like to highlight some exceptionally good service. On November 4 I went to the Paramus NJ store to purchase foam insulation boards and rent a vehicle to transport them. First I signed up for the rental then went to purchase the product. I faced disappointment when the boards were not in the location they were supposed to be and store staff had to locate and them and bring them down from a high shelf. Then I had to check out the very bulky items. The process took time and I was on the rental clock. But what could have been a frustrating experience was turned pleasant by the friendly and helpful store staff. I was especially impressed with the tool/vehicle rental staff who noticed the purchase delay and reset the rental clock before I even asked (I was told it is policy to allow consideration for purchase time but the staff tracked it without me having to make a fuss). Now it looks like I'll need to purchase a dishwasher soon. Paramus HD is now #1 on my shopping list! (BTW I got an email for the survey but I was busy, and before I had a chance to fill it in, the survey expired. Seems to expire after 7 days - not enough time for people busy with their projects!) read more

My fiancé and I just left this location. We went up to the counter for him to exchange one of his husky tools. The lady, Rene, had a horrible Attitude about us exchanging this tool. She made it feel as if we were personally offending her. My fiancé went to go get the new tool and there was a man behind me so I went to get the tool off the counter so she could help him and she said with a nasty and accusatory tone that " IT can STAY there" idk who she thinks she is but she needs an attitude adjustment. Ordered materials online on Thursday for Friday delivery. Was to receive a call, did not. I was traveling. Called Saturday, said was delivered. Online said it was not. I was connected to the store and was told the order was not delivered as the delivery company couldn't figure out how to put it on a truck because it was loaded on a pallet. This was not a large order, 10 8' 6 X 6's and some hardware! They wanted to set delivery for the following Wednesday, contractor begins Monday!! Canceled the Home Depot order. For starters, I could easily say that I would choose to come to Home Depot over Lowe's any day. I just don't understand with home improvement stores how it's always difficult to find an employee to assist with questions or locations of items. This Home Depot in particular has a sufficient stock of goods. However, it does get very busy so you can find a lot of people shopping around especially on the weekends. Not the best dang depot there is ... otoh ... not sure HD is what it once was anymore anywhere (yeah ... here it comes ... gratuitous nostalgia from the curmudgeon...) A lifetime ago -- before internet anything -- HD helped me curate the infrastructure of my first home. It was new; it was cheap; the credit terms were great; there was no competition on the horizon; you could return anything for a cash refund, anytime, no questions asked, and the salespeople actually cared about your needs and knew what they were talking about. Not anymore. What was once personal is now institutional. Like government bureaucracy -- HD has few soft edges -- and mostly, little competition. Returns here are no longer automatic without a receipt, and they are increasingly discretionary and a hassle if you don't show ID. Some of the staff at this location seem bewildered by "how to" questions, hence not much help for DIY-ers venturing into unfamiliar territory. The only employees that seem eager to welcome you are those hard selling HD contracting services -- and these folks will follow you around the store if you don't make it very clear you are not interested. They favor contractors, who can be surly in the aisles and parking lots during busy times, and their restocking and signage is often poor. Still, if I need landscaping supplies, or lumber, or electrical, or plumbing -- and especially if I need all of these at the same time, there is no other reasonable alternative in the area. Like Costco, the pricing here can be good for some things, or top of the market for others. Hence, like all the other Walmart-inspired clones, you pay through the nose for convenience if you don't shop wisely. The warehouse box stores have us by the shorts. Chris in lumber (young man with blond hair) was exceptionally helpful and made my shopping experience better. This is the second or third time he has helped me, this time he made a few cuts to plywood I was purchasing and because of his help it saved me lots of time and made my project go faster and easier. Every time I have encountered him he was professional, pleasant, polite and knew what he was doing. You can't push a cart down any aisle without having to stop and move wood pallets full of items or orders.. might as well give me an orange apron since I'm "working" every time I have to shop this store. After wasting 45 minutes in Hackensack - we needed some wire cut and 3 staff told us they would get someone- we walked out and went to Paramus where we were in and out in 15 minutes and even got some advice for our project. Nobody answers the phones and when they do all they do is transfer you back and forth and eventually hang up (happened 3 times). Im store, if you have a question, you might as well go home because employees run from you like you have the plague. If you do manage to catch one they'll just tell you it's not your department, or try to send you across the store to someone else who also won't help. They won't even try, they mostly won't even talk to you, even if you walk right up to them. It's really very lame and rude. I'm literally just trying to buy a light bulb, like nothing crazy. It's a place of unhappy employees swamped with work! We came in on Wednesday around noon asking for help in the plumbing section. It took forever for get an employee to come and when they did, they seemed to be rushing their time there. My theory is that they are given too many duties to complete and coming to help customers isn't their top priority. We spent more than 2 hours in this whole ordeal. Back story: Placed an order online because my wife and I have a 2 month old and wouldn't have been able to get through the story to grab all of the big items we needed without the baby having a melt down. Came in 3 hours later, and nothing had even been started. Spoke with the customer service team in the store and they said they were going to get started pulling my items. First issue, their printers were down so the rep had to hand write out our entire order as a check list to pull the product from various places around the store. 45 minutes later they finally brought the first item. Then... NOTHING for over an hour and a half. I started voicing my displeasure with the customer service team and then they finally got into gear and made some moves... In the end it took 3 hours to get all the product together so I could finally check out. Needless to say, I'll never be ordering online again and picking up in store. Driver said they could not come back to haul away old dryer as they "only come out once." We called and they agreed to pick up A WEEK LATER. This is my go-to Home Depot location in the area that I spend countless amounts of hours here looking for anything from nuts and bolts to gardening supplies. I've actually have become quite a pro with finding things here. My boyfriend along with any man I have ever met likes to find things on their own instead of asking a home depot employee. I usually take it upon myself to go and ask without his permission and show up with the piece and blow his mind. Good way to impress your man ladies! Tried to completely scam me on a garage door opener installation. After paying up front, it took 4 weeks to get an actual appointment scheduled. When I actually got a phone call from the vendor, they told me immediately that I needed to purchase an upgraded mounting kit (couldn't use the one that comes with the opener, of course). After the guy came out, he told me that I needed to buy an 8' extension kit and left. I measured the garage door opening and contacted the manufacturer--no extension kit actually needed, he lied to get out of the job that day and charge me a site fee to come back at a later date. This location did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue, simply saying that they need to believe everything the vendor tells them. I got a call from Home Depot the next day that "Everything is on hold" and I need to pay ~$65 for the guy to come out again, and ~$60 for installation of some emergency release cord that is required by law (hey, if it is required by law, include it in your initial estimate and charge me up front--don't send a guy out and hit me for re-visit and site fees on something you knew I needed already). On top of that, I'd need to buy more parts. All in all, they offer a low up-front cost and then send a guy out that deny the installation due to the tight margins and try to force you to pay for him to come out again for a variety of reasons that were confirmed to be false directly by the manufacturer. I called another vendor who completed the installation without an extension kit, and the door opens fully. read more

This is a guy's store, like BestBuy for electronics, Home Depot is for what you want to do around, inside your home. It has everything you need to work around, inside and under your house. You can spend houra walkibg the aisle and just thinking of hiw you will use the product you are looking at. If you don't mind spending to have it installed or like me not knowing how, they can do that for you to save you time and for me most likely money as I will end up screwing the install. Friendly and helpful service at this location. Plenty of parking and well organized, clean and structure. Just don't go crazy like I do. read more

Whatever you are looking for, you can do better than Home Depot - and this store in particular. We ordered a fridge. Among other problems, the fridge was attempted to be delivered with a dent the size of the Grand Canyon on the door. We refused delivery. When we called Home Depot, we were condescendingly told that this wasn't their problem. Despite only ever dealing with Home Depot, and them taking our money, we were told that actually it was our responsibility to contact the manufacturer to arrange for delivery of the fridge now. What do you call it when someone takes your money and then never delivers the product? In the real world we call it theft or fraud. Home Depot calls it standard operating procedure, and condescendingly tells you that you just don't understand the way it works. If I'm the one who has to work with the manufacturer to get my fridge, what am I paying Home Depot for? read more

Wow! Came here (after going to their competitor) to purchase interior doors for a new house. Steve was just beyond a pleasure to work with. He was patient and knowledgeable and gave me ALL my options. Annette (the supervisor) was also just so happy to help. At this point I feel like I live here and there are other Home Depots closer to me but I'll drive extra just for these two jems. They both have customer service down to a brilliant science. Steve has made this experience such a pleasant one without making me feel like a burden. This is the Home Depot to go to.
