First, I walked into Oberg and Lindquist on January 22nd, was greeted by Noelle who explained the features of different Bosch Dishwasher models and without pressure of any kind, took my order and set up delivery for January 25th. All of this within 20 minutes. Also, I had researched models and costs and was quoted a fair and decent price. On Friday, two lovely, efficient and competent gentlemen arrived around 11 am, within the time slot I was given for delivery. They met with an issue that the Bosch Dishwasher was larger than the space it was to fit into. Promising only that they would try, they started to methodically figure out what it would take to properly fit the dishwasher into the space where a Kitchen Aid was. They succeeded. They were actually joyful that they could make me happy. To me, this was service of long ago--not today's haphazard, sloppy and rushed delivery. I have purchased a Kitchenaide dishwasher, a Speed Queen washer and a Thermidor cooktop from Oberg & Lindquist in the last year. I will NEVER buy an appliance anywhere else! They are that good. Their installers are their employees, not outside contractors, and are incredibly competent and have decades of experience. The customer service is heads and tails above any other place. They are responsive and always immediately available to answer any questions. Delivery is FAST, and installations is pretty immediate after delivery. This is our second time using O&L. The first time, a couple of years ago, our dryer froze up. I thought/told them we needed an electric dryer, but when they delivered, I realized we needed a gas dryer (duh). I called them immediately and without any scolding or friction whatsoever, they took the electric dryer back and swapped it out for a gas dryer, which they delivered and installed THE SAME DAY, no questions asked! Flash forward and our 8 year old dishwasher failed, just days before Thanksgiving, which we're hosting 13 people. We went to their showroom in a panic and the salesman (Jerry?) worked with us to find a very reasonably priced replacement that they were able to deliver and install THE NEXT DAY! Once again, O&L bailed us out and we LOVE our new dishwasher. I'll sing their praises to whoever will listen and highly recommend them for fair pricing, good selection and seriously efficient service. We decided to take a trip to Oberg & Lindquist with our problem. We were introduced to Bill Volz. He presented us with many alternative options. After a few minutes we realized we came to the right place. Bill was a pleasure to work with. Not only did he immediately solve our issue, his prices were far better than any of the competition. I figured I'd add a good review here since I saw several negative ones. My experiences have been positive. Recently a relative gifted me new AC's for a new apartment along with delivery and installation. All went well, delivery guys were friendly and knew what to do. They definitely took the time to carefully secure the sides to make it bug proof- a big deal to me. I did have to wait a little over a week for delivery, which left me in a very hot apartment on some days, but in this weather and with Covid stuff, I figure that's not so unusual . Also my family bought a washing machine from here a couple years ago and had a great experience with the delivery and machine. I definitely recommend coming here for your appliance needs. read more

This is one of the worse companies I have ever dealt with, and that is saying a lot. After confirming that all of our items were in the warehouse and being delivered at the end of October, they just didn't bring some items. They blamed this on everything you can imagine, instead of just admitting their own incompetence. I also gave them several opportunities to do "The Right Thing" which they never did. When it was finally delivered 6 months later they acted like they did me a favor. It is awful that they make me give them 1 star, because they deserve zero. I have often heard numbers about percentage of family business that fail as they are passed from generation to generation but never understood why, I guess most of the family business I know have a competent next generation. I now know why this is the case, as in my opinion the current "Family Ownership" should not be running a lemonade stand never mind an appliance store. You try and do the right thing and give your business to a local establishment, even if it costs a few dollars more. The staff was friendly and helpful, until the truth is revealed. "Yes we have this in stock and can deliver it in a couple of days." The night before, when you've made arrangements to be home, you receive a message that the items are now NOT in stock. You call to ask why are customers being told items are in stock and you get hit with excuses. Sorry is the best they can do for you and give you no timeframe as to when you will receive what you have fully paid for already. You would think that if a business made promises they couldn't keep that they would do everything in their power to remedy the situation. Instead their response is "sorry, we will issue you a refund." I understand there are issues in the supply chain. If they had said it will be there in 3 weeks it would have been fine. The problem is with the staff at the store making promises they just can't keep and the management making no effort to make amends for their mistakes. Take your business elsewhere. read more

It was the lack of information you shared a week before Christmas when you made the sale and larger still how unpleasant both sales people were during the delivery in my phone call. What a great appliance store. Noel helped us right away, helped advise me on buying my range (no she did not push me towards the most expensive one ,in face she told me get a different one). We bought all Cafe AppliancesRange, Refridgerator, microwave, and dishwasher. They held on to all the appliance for an extra 4 months because the contractor was behind schedule. No extra charge. When we came in to finally pay the balance we were told oh wait there is an additional rebate you are entitled to. We saved over $3000.00 coming here vs Westchester County . I have ordered two kitchens at Oberg and Linquist. The first was in 2006 and I was super impressed with the product lines and service. Had very little issues and felt they were friendly and customer oriented. Fast forward to just before the pandemic. Ordered another kitchen for a small apartment in the house. Obviously chain supply caused issues with delivery but everything arrived except one item. No biggie, not their fault and understandable. I am sure they have never experienced a pandemic before. They probably are short staffed etc. that is the time to double down and be particularly nice to your customers especially your loyal customers. My biggest gripe about Oberg and Lindquist is the lack of friendliness and professionalism on the staffs part. They are current, short and quite frankly pretty nasty. That is their fault and that is controllable. I will not do business with them again. I am very fair in my relations with people and did not like being treated so poorly. I would recommend some sensitivity training to some of their employees. I see you replied to my review very shortly after I wrote it! Impressive on your part. I've called your store 16 times since ordering from you. My name should have stuck with st least 1 person I imagine. Every time I did express my concern to you guys you said curtly & abruptly there was nothing yoh could do. I completely agree to take up the issue with the business before posting on social media ( that is the cowards way out) However I was pretty peeved about my experience with you guys & I told you repeatedly. We purchased an entire kitchen worth of appliances a year in advance and it was one thing after another- we had to pay more for an upgraded dishwasher, received last years model fridge because of delays and worst of all received the loudest ice machine I've ever heard after being told it's the "quietest" one they make. They will ignore emails or basically say "sorry, not sorry" and will not accept a return on a machine that you can hear throughout the entire house all day/night. The dishwasher I bought was installed improperly, leaked on at least 4 occasions. If you go through their painfully slow warranty guidelines you get inadequate help from the "whirlpool specialist" Dann-Marc. I had to hire an emergency plumber to repair a leak damaging the floor boards - was told to wait a week for Dann- Marc who did not correct the problem first two times. Either the item was low quality or the solution was inadequate - don't use them. read more

All these negative reviews certainly don't reflect the experience I had. Last year during the pandemic they made an effort to use an appliance store closer to my home. After a visit and several phone calls I just could not get the store where I previously bought many appliances but who recently changed hands - to order a wall air conditioner. At the suggestion of a friend I called Oberg and Linquist. I emailed a photo of the air conditioner and the plug bought it over the phone and I got it delivered on the next day. The installation was far superior to previous air conditioners I had installed. I was extremely satisfied. About a month later, a friend of mine had ordered a dishwasher from a large appliance store and after a lot of commotion, they never showed up on the date of delivery. The freezer did NOT work.... and Oberg & Lindquist told us to call the Sub Zero repair service.. lost all of our freezer food as we did not have a freezer for 30 hours... The sales man told us 1 1/2 - 2 hours for the install... When we called Oberg & Lindquist were very unapologetic and would not own up to the incompetance of their install team... WOW....in a bad way! I WAS a repeat customer. I tried to do the right thing and support a local business. In this case, that was a terrible decision on my part. The treatment I received was horrific. I purchased an appliance in August and it is now late November. I was provided several estimated delivery dates, which all came and went. I can 100% relate to all the folks who commented on these reviews. I was treated rudely when I simply asked for updates. After 3 months, I posted a review and received a call from Karen telling me to go somewhere else. She shouted over me and hung up. Three months....no appliance, but I did get a hearty go to hell. Needed a new cooktop and called O&L. A person came to my home -took measurements and several days later I called to discuss replacement cooktops. Several choices were duscussed and a GE with ventilation system was agreed upon. Appt was set and both installers were knowledgeable -suggested an interim step was needed by a plumber to relocate pipe but a call to O&L resulted in a plumbing appt. First when you call the owner needs to at least sound like she cares, rude and short to cut you off when trying to explain a complaint, now the installer they sent is not qualified to do the work he didn't know what a shut off valve was or where it was and said we need to shut the water off for the entire condo building, the valves where right in front of his face! Had to call and pay for a plumber to point out the obvious, then he reversed the hot and cold connection to the machine and now he is coming back for a third time!!!!! Horrible service not worth trying to be loyal to ma and pop store but they won't be getting my money again. Oh wait he also left screws in the washer and an electric plate on my hot water heater!!! Update still have NOT heard back Okay Debra, it is now going on almost two months since we requested a phone call and still have NOT received a call back from you! I have had 3 service calls on my stove since it was delivered on December 21, 2019 that was supposed to be brand new and instead it was a left over 2017 model which explains all the wear and tear on the stove. This 2017 stove was never revealed to me on my invoice or verbally stated. THIS IS A CONSUMER FRAUD MATTER, unless you are willing to rectify my stove and give me what I paid for 2019 stove instead of your floor sample I will have no other option but to take you to court and sue for damages. I bought a maytag Washer and Dryer back in March 2019 from Oberg & Lindquist. The Washer gear box is now shot. I went back to Oberg & Lindquist today 11/4/22 to see if they could assist and or see if they would give me a good deal on a replacement Washer. After waiting for 10-15 minutes someone finally came out and took my receipt and disappeared to review the warranty. They handed me a piece of paper with 2-3 phone numbers and said call them and see if you are covered by Maytag. I said I bought it here and I have to do all the work by making phone calls and checking on warranty info? they said yes. They had no customer appreciation for me and could care less about the fact a washer for over $700 was broken after only 3.5 years. I went home and called and I wasn't covered. They could have cared less about satisfying a customer or even taking the time to give me a good deal on a new washer. I immediately bought a speed queen from Rockland appliance at 10:30 am and it was delivered and installed by 2:30 pm the same day!!! Avoid this place because after they sell you an appliance, they could care less about your satisfaction. Go to Rockland Appliance for a better experience and great service!!!!!!!! I purchased a refrigerator in February hoping this would be an amazing purchase. I was recommended by a close friend and I am so disappointed. The delivery men were careless and my refrigerator has a light scratch on main door and a deep smudge on top freezer door. Whirlpool discontinued the design of my black doors and OBERG & LINDQUIST told me whirlpool will give me 20% off. So, that means I have to pay approximately $900.00 for a damaged refrigerator. And, I have to put a few magnets on the very noticeable smudge. I can't believe I have to camouflage the damage. I would have been better taken care of if I would have made purchase through Lowe's or Home Depot. I thought I was in good hands, what a huge disappointment!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE. I definitely should have asked questions about damage policy but you would think OBERG would do something about damage. They suggested I buy touch up paint. Are you kidding me!!!! Excellent experience with Oberg & Lindquist. Back in February 2017 we needed a new washing machine when the Samsung we had purchased from Best Buy didn't even last four years, if I recall correctly it was more than $1k retail. And then when I noticed "rocks" in the machine, I learned from a plumber that those "rocks" were actually pieces of metal inside the machine that were falling apart. No surprise there were thousands of cases out there like that. On to the next one! That plumber recommended Oberg & Lindquist to us and told us to buy a Speed Queen. We previously purchased our Sub Zero refrigerator from Oberg so we had experience with them and their installation team as well. So we spoke with one gentleman on the phone and when we got there we worked with Steve, he showed us the Speed Queen that was their best seller, we purchased it and set up the installation date. The installation team was very professional. Actually our setup was a bit tricky and they came a week later to adjust something. And again because of our narrow exit pipe in the wall, we had to call Oberg again, and they promptly sent someone again, and since then the machine has been working perfectly. The Speed Queen is very similar to our original washing machine from decades ago, all metal and old school. We've yet to purchase a stove from Oberg & Lindquist which Steve was helping us with and which they sent someone to take measurements, but they're our place when we finally buy one. We're 2 for 2 with purchases from there and know a dozen families that have purchased various appliances from them. No wonder why. 100% recommend them, their sales team, and their installation team. read more

I'm waiting to see what the final outcome is for me Most of every business that I've dealt with recently has not still been as severely affected by the Covid situation the way they were in the beginning, especially when it's a small store who prides itself on it's family ownership and outstanding, personalized customer service. Granted, it's unfortunate that we've all had an extremely hard time for a couple of years and I, like many people, have been more than very patient and sympathetic during this period. I'm NOT the type of person that complains about many things and I'm also more understanding than most. I don't like to give poor reviews, but this type of service has been unacceptable imo - the same excuse every time I call! I don't understand why they couldn't be honest with me at the start so I could weigh my other options for purchasing appliances that are urgently needed! *** I called again this morning, before seeing the response from my review, and got the exact same answer as I have been getting - they are busy. Now I'm going to see IF I get a phone call tomorrow, as I was assured I would, giving me the details for what will work for my kitchen. Hopefully, I will be able to quickly get a refrigerator/freezer (and oven) that I can use, so I don't need to go out for food every day in order to eat! I'm over 65 years old, live alone with no family at all, and am waiting to have foot surgery, which is making it even more difficult to drive to the store for food so often! read more
