The last time I went in they went above and beyond what is expected. I couldn't get the screws out of my back license plate. Instead of just selling me something that may work they sent an employee out to look at my car. He then got a pair of vice grips and was able to get the screws off for me, this wouldn't have happened at a Home Depot or Lowes. He then gave me advice on how to reinstall the new screws. Another important fact is that their prices are pretty much on par with box chain hardware stores. This is a great local business and I will be a customer for life.

Oh sure, on the busiest day of the week (Sat.) when the place is flooded with people like me who need help and don't know what they're doing you might wait a while for help. But, when that person comes, he will spend as much time as it takes to get you what you need and to be sure you know how to use it. This is pure, solid, excellent customer service at its best and it's well worth the wait. There have been times when I've asked "Do I need this?" and been told "You don't have to spend so much let me show you a better idea." What they sell are quality items - not the junk you'll get elsewhere that won't last. If you're a lady as am I, no condescending attitudes ever which truly counts for a lot. And they were equally patient, kind and attentive with my unskilled husband. When I owned a home Benjamin Brothers taught me how to take care of it. As a real estate agent they've been invaluable in helping me to help my clients. Maybe this is a generation gap since I'm no longer young but I'd rather wait the 5 or 6 minutes on a busy day to have someone who's an expert make sure I've got the right item and then explain what to do with that thing.

They're not many of those left anymore I went in remembering fondly, going into many of these stores over the years. Well, the store was just like I remembered those other stores . It is set up exactly like you remember. It's like stepping back in time 50 years ago. So many good things that you can buy practical things for the home. They have a nice aisle of games and cards. Even a retro new version of that fun electronic game Simon. I spent a good 45 minutes looking around. I should've taken a basket because I could hardly carry when I brought up to the counter. Leather cleaner. Undershirts. Lava soap, Brillo pads address labels. Yarn a blank videotape. A few lightbulbs. Some stick on hangers, shoe polish shoelaces plus a bunch more stuff. So nice to have a store that has so many good quality, practical things all up and down the aisles Not a lot of junk. Just good stuff. The cashier was very friendly and told me about the history of the store. It was open since 1960. Three generations of the same family have run the store. As I suspected, the materials had never been ordered. Upon hearing this, Kevin, Chris, and Jeff very easily could have wished me well and sent me on my way. Instead, what they did was above and beyond. They turned a very negative experience into some thing truly amazing. Even though the store was quite busy, they took the time to listen and helped me troubleshoot. Then, they reached out to a local contractor (Karl Drehwing) to see if he might be able to help us out despite being incredibly busy. Karl arranged for a few of his guys to come and help us. (Thank you Justin, Jared, and Greg). They did amazing work. Prior to their arrival at our house, Chris worked closely with me and Karl to get the materials needed. Chris was extremely patient; again going above and beyond. Both Chris and Jeff continued to reach out to me throughout the process to make sure all was going well. Because of their kindness, my family will be able to enjoy Christmas in a house that is warm (literally) and put back together! My family and I will be forever grateful! It's usually a good experience here, but I was especially impressed during my most recent visit because of their newer in-store pickup locker system. When you walk in, you can scan your order barcode at the pickup screen (or enter your order number), and one of the lockers automatically pops open with your items inside. It was quick, easy, and pretty cool to see in action. I even took a video of the process to share with this review. There's only so much you can fit in a locker, but hey, this is a big improvement over the old process. Still not five stars as I'm not a fan of their current return policy.
