Chris R.

I was made to feel like less than human by the associate who was running the saw. For some reason the Home Depot in Poughkeepsie had no problems cutting my board the way I wanted it into 16 inch pieces and then 4 8 inch pieces. However this guy, running the saw in Kingston, told me that he can't cut anything lower than 12 in, and he didn't care what they did in Poughkeepsie, he's not doing it for me. I tried to explain to him that I have the tools at home, but I am disabled, but he didn't want to hear it. He just said no. I almost walked out. I went to the service desk and ask to speak to a store manager, after almost a half an hour standing at the service desk I finally got to talk to an assistant manager. I told him of my situation and not only did he offer to make the cuts for me, he also offered me a chair because I told him I was close to Falling Down. I hate being sick and I hate when it affects my life. But that is neither here nor there. I think I may have to go out of my way from now on when I want to go to Home Depot and go to the Poughkeepsie store only because most of the employees treat you better there, then they do in the Kingston store. It's such a shame because I'm only 20 minutes from the Kingston store and 45 minutes from the Poughkeepsie store. If anybody from Home Depot corporate reads my post, which I doubt they ever will but, the assistant manager's name was Jerame, and he went out of his way to make me happy. However as good of a job as he did, it doesn't make up for the lack of caring and consideration by the associate at the saw. Or the other associate who didn't realize I was leaning against my cart, and pushed it out of her way, and I almost fell on my ass.

Good place buy stuff at no reason to complain. Wish they added Veteran's Parking like Lowe's though.

Went to purchase a dishwasher. No one in the department. I guess they didn't want the sale.

The customer service was excellent, the store was clean and the prices were very resonable. I shop there often.

I don't generally come to Home Depot often, but when Lowes pushed me aside (and told me to wait outside "just for the heck of it"), I knew I needed something and I'd check at your store instead.

If you need to spruce up your backyard and overall landscape at home, Augustine's will help you out. While they do mention that their consultation isn't anything in-depth, the person will call in advance, set up an appt with you, travel to your home and for 30 mins or so, they will you fill you in on some plant know-how. The service is $0. Our general landscaper relies heavily on these folks for their shrubs, trees, plants and garden supplies. In the last year we've had our home, we just let our landscaper know our mission and he'll tackle it with the type of look we want. But this time, hubs and I visited and decided to personally select( 2) 5-6' pine trees on our own so he can go ahead and plant. Penny is one of the head honchos here and knows a thing or two about plants and trees especially when I asked about certain types of plants that would deter bees- since I was stung the summer of '22 and left me traumatized. The service is personable AND they offer Veteran discounts. They're pricy for sure- but if you're willing to pay the price to add a stunning look to your garden, a visit here is essential.

How is it that I'm the first person to review P&T Surplus?!?…read more This place is really cool. It's a junk shop, and mean that in the best way. They have electronics, computers, and miscellaneous mechanical stuff (metal stock, plastic stock, etc) I believe they also deal in scrap metals by the pound, if you happen to have a ton of scrap brass rods or something. There's a cool vibe here where local artists (that, I assume, have used parts from P&T Surplus to create sculpture and other mixed-media art) have pieces on display. They also have a really large section of obsolete computers and parts, which is good if you need to replace an ISA card or some other kind of 10+ year old computer part that nobody seems to sell any more. To me, surplus stores are about picking up obsolete electronics for experimentation and parts, not art, but hey, if that's what keeps this place going, then I'm happy for it. The prices are not marked on a lot of the surplus items, so you have to go ask at the counter. The prices can be a little high, but luckily they are quite nice there, and sometimes you can dicker with them a little. One thing that is a little weird is that a lot of the electronic surplus seems to come from IBM (some of it is still labelled) and I always wonder if they came upon it honestly. I think they probably have some kind of deal to purchase the IBM scrap, but you never know. Anyway, there really are no other options in the area for an electronics junk-hound like me. If you are interested in surplus and electronics, you owe it to yourself to stop by.

Not as quirky as the great Ax-Man in Saint Paul, Minnesota, but few things are. Still, worth a trip if you're in the area and need a spare hydraulic ram, vacuum tubes, and miscellaneous gauges. Steampunk away!
