I purchased a pressure washer from Conway's 4 years ago. 5 weeks ago, I brought it in for servicing. I was told the unit would be ready in 1 to 2 weeks. At 3 weeks, when I hadn't heard back, I stopped in to inquire. I was told the Service Dept was waiting on a gasket. I never heard anything again. Today, 5 weeks after I dropped off the machine, I was informed that the machine's pump has malfunctioned, and that I would need to buy a new machine. Look, I get it. It's hard to repair equipment. But it's not hard to pick up a phone and keep a customer informed of what's happening. That's the value proposition of doing business with a local store instead of a big box chain. Or so I thought. I'm in the market for a new pressure washer. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

In light of the deplorable service I received at Indian Mountain Mower Service in Millerton, I decided to give these guys a try. The place is clean and service people friendly. They fixed my mower sooner than the estimate and called to say it was ready. The only downside is they are a little pricey. Nevertheless they got the job done. read more

While the staff is pleasant and helpful if you have a question. I had an old ride on mower with a broken clutch cable. I asked them to do a once over and fix the cable. They indicated it was not worth putting alot of money into it and the deck was beginning to rust. After deciding I could still use it to pull stuff around my property and cut the flat parts I asked them to go ahead and fix it. After 4 weeks I called and they let me know it was ready. When I went to pick it up I found out they cut the mower belt as they determined it was too dangerous to cut with. When I asked them to show me what they were talking about they could only show me a bit of rusting on the under side of the deck. They gave me a belt but woudl not put it on for me read more

My snowblower was running poorly so I dropped it off to them for repair. They told me that it needed a carburetor and a fuel tank and that it would cost $350 to $400 to repair it so I should just buy a new one. When I got it home, my curiousity kicked in and it took me 5 minutes to figure out that the carburetor was packed with mouse nest. Cleaned out the debris and it started right up and runs like a top again. I don't know if they were busy and didn't feel like fixing it or they just wanted to sell me a new one. If you want an honest look at your machine I would take it somewhere else. read more

New nor Used, will never buy again from Conway. In 2015 we bought a used snow blower and a brand new skil gas weedwhacker. Both middle end products and not the cheapest ones. When the gas weed whacker stopped working, despite having a warranty plan we paid for, they asked for $40 to inspect it. They said there was water in the tank and that some gasoline's naturally did that and corpses the system. The coat of repair would be almost the cost of a new one. They tried to sell us another. We used the oil and additive they sold us since day one and they didn't stand behind their product. They said they cannot do anything but they were aware of this repetive problem. They waived the $40 and charged only $10 but we were out a weedwhacker just two seasons in. $200 down the drain. The used blower died after the second season. We take it to a service shop. We find out they sold us a TEN YEAR OLD MACHINE made in 2004 and it is old and broken in so many ways any store or shop could see. We paid more than half the price of new. I called and spoke to Jaime. She said they don't stand or "guarantee their used products and it is as is." She said "buying used from us is essentially like buying from a garage sale." Except that when I buy a pretty clean machine from a shop I expect they looked at it, not just cleaned and resold a decade old machine. That is customer deception. I always support local businesses. For my garden tools from this point forward I'll be buying from amazon which offers guarantees and add on warranty they actually stand behind. It isn't disappointing when a community business isn't a true community business. read more

I'm a city girl, so when pushing a mower became too much, I went to Conway's, and purchased my 'LIL RED' Snapper riding mower. I could probably ride her to Staten Island if it was possible (with frequent stops for gas, of course). I even have a license plate!!! They were so helpful, they pick it up and store it for winter as we are just here in the summer, and return it in the spring serviced and ready to go. I see reviews about price,but you get what you pay for and in my book they are worth everything. Love my Snapper, and so happy with Conways. I must add they treated my like a person, not a 'dumb blonde female' as another places did. I was not ignored so they could tale care of the MALES in the store. read more

I have been a loyal customer at Conway's for more than 15 years. I learned a lesson many, many years ago that while you may be able to purchase similar types of lawn/power equipment at reduced prices from any of the big box stores, the question of having these products serviced is the bottom line consideration. They service everything they sell and provide you with the expert and knowledgeable service that you would expect. They always consult with you if any additional work would be needed outside of normal service/maintenance. Their staff is always very professional and courteous! Having purchased mowers, leaf blowers, generators, snow blowers, etc. over this period, I will continue to support this local business because of their reliability, reputation and my satisfaction. I especially like their annual program where they will pick up your mower in the late fall, service it, and store it until spring. At that time they will return it and pick up your snow blower, perform the same service,and return it in late fall prior to the winter. read more
