We were about to go to a place our landscaping guys use in Kingston- but after purchasing a few things at the hardware store in town, the cashier suggested we come here for evergreens, perennials, etc. Pat (Mr Gallo himself I think) is the head honcho, and he knows a thing or two or three about plants. In fact, he gave us some pointers on the hydrangea bush we selected because I'm not familiar with that specific type. Thank you! The outside space has a nice variety of plants, shrubs and trees, pots, etc and the inside houses locally-made Adirondack chairs, gardening supplies, tools, etc. While Gallo's doesn't compare to those big box home stores with larger plant selections, Gallo's has enough to work with and it's a doable one-stop-shop for almost any plant need you could imagine. As a reminder, this place is seasonal- so get all your greenery soon if you need to spruce up your landscape because they'll close the Friday before Thanksgiving and reopen "around" Mother's Day. We purchased 6 lush and healthy, 5' arborvitaes and 2 hydrangea shrubs for our landscaping crew to pick up during the week and plant. Yeah...prices might be up there- but the way I see it is: why drive milesssss away to go to a corporate nursery, when I'm right here and want to support local??? To add, because Gallo's is wrapping up for the season soon, there's a 20% off on plants, shrubs and trees! Thank you again! We had no issues, service was helpful AND friendly. My mom is my source of all things gardening, and she told me to go to Story's. I looked up the website (which is great) to see what they had in stock. Under "fruiting plants" in nursery stock, I found what was basically a comprehensive list of all the fruit I could think of...so we just decided to head over and take our chances. When we arrived and walked around a bit, I realized that they actually HAVE pretty much everything on that comprehensive list, because this place is massive and awesome. I don't think I can possibly list all the things they've got, but I feel pretty confident saying that their selection is better than anything you might find in the surrounding area: Trees, shrubs, evergreens, bushes, perennials, herbs, succulents, conifers, flowers, vegetables, vines...you want plants, they've got the plants. They've also got all the garden supplies you need...plant food, fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, tools, a gorgeous selection of pots, and hooks, and garden gnomes, and more. I didn't know I needed netting to keep the birds from eating my blueberries, but they did, and they've got the netting you need. I should note that my mom frowns on netting your berries, as she believes we need to share with the birds...but she's just a much better person than I am.

Buyer Beware. In my past 30 years of various home improvements and renovations, I've usually been…read morevery happy with the people and businesses I've dealt with. Marigold Home was a glaring exception. If you buy something in the shop, with a price tag on it, you'll be fine. But if you get into any ordering with them, WATCH OUT! I attempted to buy Hunter Douglas window treatments from them. I'd bought them for our apartment in Brooklyn and was very happy with the entire experience. The experience with Marigold Home was completely different. Most businesses, when you're placing a special order, will write up a quote, detailing what you're purchasing and how much you'll pay for it. Not Marigold. They don't want to give you that because they say people might take that and go elsewhere for a better price. It was my mistake for not stopping right there. I allowed myself to be gullible and believe they were an honest business. After they took my deposit and placed the order, only then, and only after I requested it three more times, was I given a printed quote. Even then, it wasn't as detailed as what I'd gotten from the dealer in Brooklyn (L.W.P. Home Products) before they'd asked for any money from me. Just to assure myself Marigold's price was somewhere in the ball park (because it had seemed so expensive right from the start), I submitted a request to LWP, without telling them I'd already had a quote, because I didn't want LWP to give me a competitive quote, just the usual quote they would give. They did so right away, and it was literally HALF the price Marigold was charging. (I called LWP then and told them what was going on. They said they could arrange a local installer to do the installation. If only I'd called them first, I'd never have had to have this awful experience!!!! But of course it was too late by then, as I'd already been fleeced of my deposit.) Most, if not all, Hunter Douglas dealerships give discounts off the "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price." Not Marigold. Not only don't they give any discount, they also add exorbitant installation costs ($400 for approximately one hour's work) and "freight" charges (around $200) that I wasn't charged for by the other dealer. In the end, I was so disgusted with Marigold that I didn't take the shades. I paid the deposit, which covered their costs with Hunter Douglas, their "freight," Maria's time in coming to my house to measure my 7 small windows (four of which were all the same size anyway), and left enough over for Maria and her husband to have several expensive dinners out. That was about $1500., but it would have cost me another $1500. to have the shades. It was a painful and expensive lesson in being gullible, but I will never make that mistake again. I will eventually deal with the shades the way I have in the past, by going to Home Depot and ordering shades which I will install myself. Unfortunately. There are other local dealerships for Hunter Douglas - and whatever other products Marigold Home carries - and I strongly suggest you check around before ordering anything from Marigold.
