Meg L. is the Customer Order specialist you want to ask for whenever you need something or want resources for alternatives at Home Depot (HD), especially at this location on Mondays to Fridays from 8am - 4:30pm. Her friendly and approachable rapport as well as strong relationships with customers and vendors made it way easier to buy things, such as sand for interim solutions when ice melt was out of stock for all local HD stores especially for upcoming snow storms. Plus, she educated me to correct what I learned from my science teachers about sand, which helps with traction, not lowering the freezing point like salt. Moreover, she helped get a vendor to assess how to replace a door for a basement walkout with a standard (instead of custom) door with custom labor for cement work to ensure the sill's threshold is repaired by their partner, Lex Construction, and fits the door with hopefully less water coming in during big rain storms. Given my dad's hearing impairment among his other disabilities, she helped accommodate us with a wealth of wisdom and training on customer service, especially for those who are neurodivergent. We truly appreciated her white glove service with empathy, powers of persuasion, and proactive follow-up for handling our questions and getting them answered so efficiently and effectively. Other reps and stores would normally dismiss our inquiries on details or react defensively as if they're being challenged when we just want to simply understand the logic behind why a custom door is needed. Moreover, we appreciate collaborative vendors especially when we're trying to explore the possibilities of a standard door if we're already paying for custom labor for cementing the sill to be flat or sloped to fit the door. This open-minded approach and resourcefulness to leverage the system for helping your customers solve their home improvement problems makes them want to come back more for repeat business with those who they can trust to help fix things and do it well. I also appreciated their supervisor for explaining why their schedule for delivering ice melt for the upcoming snow storm was unknown. It helped broaden my understanding of their process and limitations from their vantage point of what they know and can make possible. Had a carpet installed from this Home Depot and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT!!!!!! Everything went smooth until the installers replaced our carpet and we were not able to open or close our closet doors because they the installation was not done properly. The installers refused to shave down our doors, Home depot said it was the installers responsibility, installers US-Installations, said it was Home depot responsibility. Home depot said they were looking for someone to fix the matter....NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN!!! I was told by the HD manager.. "If I was you I would just get a carpenter to fix the doors"! NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH HOME DEPOT AGAIN!! They do not stand behind their work and they hire outside contractors to do the work, so this way they are not responsible. A real SHIT SHOW! read more

Everyone here has that DIY attitude which is what you want from a home improvement store. Brian, the manager of my local Home Depot in East Northport, is at the top of his game, managing things with a high level of professionalism, exceeding my expectations. My recent request may have been a bit of a headache but he juggled whatever else he was doing in order to assist, and did so seamlessly and with a smile. He clearly engenders the loyalty and trust of his employees, which is a great sign of fine leadership, as Kayla and Joe were both exceptional in staying on top of things, which was so very much appreciated. Kayla, in particular, went out of her way to follow up with phone calls to ensure that I was satisfied and that made all the difference in making me feel like a valued customer. Antonio was terrific at the pick-up point, which only topped off what was already a stellar shopping experience throughout the week. This Home Depot location IMO easily earns 5 stars. The employees in the plumbing section were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Both gentlemen helped save time and money with their suggestions and helping to find the correct parts for a recent small plumbing project. The store was clean and seemed well organized. I can't fix the plumbing. I can't build a house or install stuff. I come here for art supplies. Yup. Art supplies. Here, my fellow arty friends, are some tricks I have been using for years and because y'all are so special I am going to share them with you. 1. Wood. Wood is awesome to paint on, super easy to install d-rings and wire for hanging. And it is so much cheaper than canvas (depending on the type of wood you paint on). You can buy wood remnants - ask the lumber dude in the back. They typically take off 50-75% the regular price. Sweet. Some you may need to sand down a bit, but don't worry - they've got that here too. 2. Paint. Paint and primer is expensive. Hello, oops paint! Oh, you're not familiar with the oops paint? Oops paint is what happens when someone mixes a color and decides - oops, I don't want that color after all. The smaller oops sells for a whopping .50. FIFTY CENTS. Do you know how much gesso is? More than fifty cents. You can prime a whole bunch of stuff with one jar of the stuff, and I have always seen neutral colors perfect for this purpose. Also, you can get sample jars of all the pretty colors for $3.00 each. Granted, you're limited in finishes (matte, satin...) but they mix well with acrylics and other mediums. 3. Drawing paper. You know that humungo roll of brown paper you roll out and place down to protect the floor and stuff like that? Yeah. I draw and paint on that. $10 for easily a 6 month supply of paper that makes for some really interesting images. 4. Drop cloth. Because I'm a messy painter. Makes clean up super easy. 5. D-rings/hooks. So much cheaper than going to an art supply store for this stuff. Staff is pretty helpful, but it can be hard finding someone to actually help you. read more

Home Depot is, like Lowes, jammed with all the stuff you need to fix the casa - plumbing, painting, blinds and whatnot - they have it all and in large numbers. Both staff members sent me to the complete wrong sections of the store. I asked about marine board and was directed to the lumber section, and then window aisle. To whom ever it may concern: Two days ago, on June 3rd I came to Home Depot to buy supplies for my shower. However, I was greeted with an extremely unpleasant experience. I came to pick up some Duracell batteries and some tiles. The cashier I was put with was Naomi. She works at the Commack branch, the address is 5025 Jericho TPK Commack NY 11725 and the store manager is Chris Holter. What had happened was at check out, she charged me two extra times for the Duracell battery. I had told her this, but she came off to me as rude and snarky. After that, she had began to open up the box of tiles acting as if I stole. I told her kindly, that I would like another box if she was going to open the box. The box of tiles, as you may know, is wrapped in tape and sealed. I wanted a new box because I didn't want the tiles to crack, while I was driving home. Naomi came at me by saying that I should go get the box myself. Not only that, but preceded to mistakingly charge me wrong again. Each tile was around 47 cents, making the box of 21 around 9.90. However, she charged me PER TILE for $9.90. I told her that she was miscalculating. She continued to not believe me. I soon showed her the correct price, but then she still didn't believe me. Then left me there for thirty minutes, until another cashier came to take care of me. I kept asking for a store manager because it's not right to mistakenly charge someone TWICE and then respond to me rudely the whole time. Everyone brushed me off, which is understandable because it is a busy time. But how can one leave to go somewhere else for thirty minutes, knowing that a customer was here? After not even apologizing for mistakenly charging me and then accusing me of stealing. I am very disappointed with my experience with customer service and this cashier. I tried to call to make a complaint, but I was constantly put on hold. I hope you can take this matter into your own hands. read more

I purchased a 10k standby GE generator for my home in March of 2015 from The Home Depot. I was sold by Home Depots salesman's pitch on the 4 year warranty, which included parts, labor, and travel time. Best of all, the warranty included complete repair and/or replacement, if necessary. So, I purchased the unit for a total cost of $9000, which included installation and permits. In November of 2017 there was a power outage in our area. The generator failed with an "UNDER VOLTAGE" error. When I contacted The Home Depot they said they no longer supported GE generators and could not support the warranty. So, Home Depot sold me a $9000 700lb piece of junk that still doesn't work. I will be litigating this matter during the month of January, 2018. read more

When Greenlawn Hardware is closed, I must go to the huge conglomerate. Convenient location. Huge parking lot with carts of all kinds. September and the outdoor nursery was bustling. Quite impressive. They had everything I needed. Seven employees offered to help me during my shopping trip. All of the staff members were knowledgeable and friendly. The store is clean and well stocked. I opted for self checkout, which was easy to use and speedy. I hope all Home Depot locations are like this one. Definitely exceeded my expectations. read more

This store is a disaster. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. I ordered a snowblower from this store (Commack). Commack sent a floor model today covered in dust, broken chute, and missing parts. I refused it. They don't have another one in stock. Stores all over this area have them in stock but Commack will not transfer the order to another store that has them in stock. I used a $75 off coupon that expired today. They told me there is nothing they can do. I lose the coupon. Absolutely ridiculous. I've lived in the Smithtown/Huntington area most of my life and this store has always had horrible customer service. Walmart level. Stay away. I'm done with Home Depot. Edgar in hardware was excellent. I came into the store after I found a Dremel tool online. I walked towards the hardware section and asked someone in the hardware section about the tool. I will not say this person's name. I asked if they have the tool I was looking for. He said that they don't have it. I asked if he can check the Home Depot phone thing they carry around if other stores have it in stock. He asked me for a SKU. Thankfully I have a retail background and knew what he was referring to. I said I'm not sure, all I have is this print out from Home Depot with the tool. He looked like he had better things to do than help a customer. I looked at the page and found the SKU for him and he put it in and said it is only sold on the internet. I asked him where the Dremel tools were and he said all the way at the end on the left and he walked away. I found the Dremel tools and I had a question. I was reluctant to ask another employee because I didn't want to feel like I was bothering them like the previous hardware employee led me to believe with his body language. Thankfully Edgar was there and came down from the step ladder that he was working on and looked at the box with me and answered my question. I thanked him, but as I looked at the box I had another question. Thankfully Edgar was in the area and he answered that question for me as well. He was extremely pleasant and as a manager in the retail sector I would want all of my employees to perform the exact way he did. Been to this Home Depot garden center quite a few times and always walked away with some quality plants, flowers, etc. Lauren in the outdoor garden center was so helpful with me the other day. There was a sign for 50% off select trees and shrubs, so I asked her if a certain one was on sale and she was pretty positive. But at checkout, it was not. So, you know what she did? My son in law ordered appliances and kitchen cabinets. Two separate bills. Everything was placed on hold until I could go to the store and pay the bills I could not find the sales person I was supposed to talk to I met with Kumar who after looking over both bills told me to wait one minute. He returned and told me that Bill number one had a new discount of 10%. He then told me that Bill number two was currently running a sale at 20% off. He saved me $525. I was in the market for new kitchen cabinets. I met with Devyn, the kitchen designer at Commack location. I pretty much knew what I wanted. American Woodmark was having a free plywood upgrade and also lots of discounts as well. Which made this renovation affordable. The cabinets came in pristine condition. No damages via shipping. Devyn quickly addressed any issues that I had (which were minor). She offered great customer service. My kitchen came out amazing! It looks like a custom kitchen. I highly recommend this location for assistance with designing your kitchen. Devyn gets an A+++! read more

I am so sorry I have to give one star to post this review. Bought a Weber barbecue and spent the additional $90.00 to have it assembled. No matter how hard you try to reach the assembling company no luck. Finally got thru got the grill May 20, large box dumped on my porch. They'll come on May 29, never showed. After calling and waiting minimum 40 minutes got another appointment for June 13, okay I'll have it for Fathers Day, never showed up. Hours on the phone promised by Assemblers management will be here between 12 and 5 on June 15th. I have the email, never showed up. Missed granddaughters recital waiting for them now no barbecue for the holiday.. Home Depot says not there fault. But they took my money and never provided a service. Under no circumstance would I ever use them for anything. Large store like that can't assemble a barbecue. Shame on them! read more

I just bought a Scott Lawnmower from Home Depot in Commack. It was packed and sold to me as brand new. When I got it home and unpacked it I smelled grass. The wheels and blades of the lawnmower had grass and dirt on them. obviously someone had used it, returned it and they repacked it and sold it to me as new. I am so disgusted with this deceptive sales practice that I am beside myself. I assembled the lawnmower and it works fine so I am not going to bother to return it but I will never shop at any home depot ever again! In my opinion Home Depot practices deceptive sales techniques. read more
