First and foremost, a hardware store is built upon it's own employees; their knowledge and willingness to help their customers. It's something that you simply can't get anywhere else. These guys are helpful and friendly, the store is clean, well-staffed, brightly lit, and they have all the necessary inventory that a good hardware store should have. When my girlfriend needs something from the neighboring Rite Aid, I always go into the hardware store to browse, and I can never leave without stumbling upon an item that I need for my home. So glad this store opened up because a real town is not complete without a good local hardware store.

I am hard of hearing and was given an attitude with hand gestures when i asked him to repeat himself. I will never come here again, and it's a shame it's down the street from me. I would rather drive 10 minutes to ACE hardware (a commerical store) than support this store again. You guys lost a customer. All these negative reviews about the employees aren't coincidence. Trust me. Go to ACE or Home Depot instead.

My only issue is once my husband came here to return something he ended up not needing and not until we left and went to a gas station, he realized the cash the cashier gave him for his refund contained a FAKE 20 dollar bill!! We were so embarrassed when the gas station attendant told us. And we know it was from there cause he has no cash on him prior to making his return. So obviously we got as*ed out of 20 bucks. We weren't going to go back cause we knew they wouldn't believe us. So we just bit the bullet but only use card from now on. Please train your staff members to properly check other peoples bills!

Cheese party while it left customers to search far and wide in the aisles for their product of choice. After the long search for the item I needed i approach the line to pay and when at the cashier I was forced to stand there due to the cashier not pressing the appropriate buttons to allow me to pay and leave which in turn allowed me to listen to three employees complain about someone that made a return and the item that was not put back because one of the 7 people working did not want to.

I purchased a snowblower there two years ago and had a problem when I hit a newspaper that was left on my driveway after a very large snowstorm I was halfway done with my driveway and due to some medical reasons I knew I would not be able to shovel the rest. I explained my dilemma to Joey that picked up the snowblower repaired the problem and had it back to me the very same day at a very reasonable cost since that time we've had four serious snow falls and the machine has been working fantastic thank you so much Joey and the knowledgeable mechanics there for digging me out of a major problem

When they called to tell me it was ready, the owner gave me an attitude and said he didn't even know why his technician took it in. He acted like it was somehow my fault and then told me to "get this thing out of here ASAP," which I did not appreciate. When I picked it up the next day, I was charged for an oil change and a spark plug that I never approved. They charged me $25 for a spark plug, even though I had just bought one the day before and planned to install it myself. The repair had nothing to do with the engine, so I don't understand why those services were performed without asking me first. I paid the bill and left because I didn't want to argue. After getting home, I noticed a bolt was completely stripped. I called them, and they told me to bring it back. When I returned, the owner looked at it with me, but then the technician who worked on it came out with an attitude and claimed the bolt was already stripped. I know it wasn't. In my opinion, if a bolt gets stripped during a repair, it should be replaced rather than left that way. What really bothered me is that the repair bill was over $400, yet they couldn't be bothered to replace a simple stripped bolt. They had no problem charging me for services I never asked for, but apparently replacing a damaged bolt was too much to do. At that point, I was done dealing with the situation and started to leave. The technician followed me, yelling and asking what my problem was. I told him I didn't appreciate his attitude, and he continued being argumentative. It was extremely unprofessional. To make matters worse, after I got home the second time, the machine would not start at all. Overall, I had a very poor experience due to the lack of communication, unauthorized charges, poor workmanship, and unprofessional customer service. I would not recommend this shop.

I had a pretty good experience at this Home Depot recently while looking for a grill for my Dad for…read moreFather's Day. I am not a grill person, I cook like crazy, but indoors, zero grill knowledge. I used google to do some research but ultimately went to Home Depots website and looked up highly rated grills blah blah blah. My Dad had an old Weber and I had been told by countless people that Webers were the best so I knew that's what I wanted to go with. Came in and went straight to customer service for some assistance and a guy walked me over to the grills and we took a quick look. He gave me his recommendation and was knowledgable enough about which grill I should get. I went with the Spirit, their cheapest Weber option because I was told it's still a fantastic grill and through all the research I had done, that was what I was gathering as well. They didn't have any in stock and I certainly wasn't going to take the floor model, yeah right. So the guy helped order one from a different store and set me up for free delivery. The process was smooth and easy, he was a great help. Now because I'm a pain in the butt and super indecisive, three days later I changed my mind and decided I wanted to go with the upgraded version, the big dog, the Genesis. I came into the store and making the switch was also, very very easy. This time another gentleman assisted me and told me they had the grills built in the back and that one of those would be the one sent to my house. I was for sure not taking his word for it because as I had seen at other Home Depots, they put the grills out for people to open, mess around with, try out before purchasing if you will and I again, did not want a floor model. I voiced my concern and the guy assured me the grill was set up and wrapped in plastic ready for purchase. He even took the time to bring me in the back and show me for myself, which I really really appreciated. The grill was wrapped up nicely with tape to hold the wrapping in place and once I made my purchase, he wheeled the grill into the back storage area for me so that there was no confusion about whose grill it was. The home delivery was free as they were running a special for free delivery if you buy a grill over, I'm not sure exactly, I think it was $300 or so. So I did that. Since the delivery was free they give you a very wide time frame. I was told the grill would come some time between 6 am and 8pm, something like that. So basically I didn't leave my house all day and this was surprise so I had to make sure I was home. The delivery guys came around 2:30 and wheeled the grill out to where we wanted it. When we eventually unwrapped it there were a few scratches on the front of the grill, I wasn't happy about it but my Dad didn't mind. Little bit of a bummer. Overall my experience at this Home Depot was good and I was definitely dealing with customer service directly for these transactions. One big problem though, getting through to someone on the phone is a nightmare. I tried to reach the customer service desk for, a very very long time with no luck. I called the garden department, no luck, doors and windows no luck, you name it, I called it and no one answered. Probably should do something about that.

I have been a Home Depot loyal customer for over 16 years. Today, I had to visit the Crooked Hill…read moreroad Commack/ Smithtown location for items that were in this store. I have never experienced an assistant store manager so disinterested with customer service. My husband and I purchased 8 pieces of composite decking for our house project. The 12' boards (which we already paid for) did not fit in our suv. We needed someone from lumber to help us cut 2' off. No one from lumber was available. Alan (who was from a different department) was told by someone on the phone that they do not cut composite decking. I asked to speak with a manger hoping for help. Instead I found myself speaking with an assistant manager named Angelo. Who explained that they do not cut the composite decking because it's plastic and the particles fly in your face. His suggestion to me was to cut it with a hand saw in one of the Aisles myself. After I explained how ridiculous that sounded he told me I can rent a truck for $20! Those were his only two suggestions for me. Thankfully, Alan decided to help us and cut the boards. Although, I left satisfied with Alan's initiative to help us. I was not happy with the customer service from Angelo. It should never be ok to lie to customers because of lack of work ethic. Im not sure if he encourages the staff to avoid machine cutting with these kinds of ridiculous excuses or he is just clueless. I don't plan on visiting this location again. It was my one and only negative experience with someone in a supervisor position or with any Home Depot employee.
