This place makes damn good food and serves a lot of it. When you order spicy, they make it quite hot, and I'm Indian and enjoy spice, so beware. I almost wanted to give this place 3 stars because they use wayyyyyy too much oil. If I were to order again, I'd likely ask them to use less. If they are consistently making it with that amount of oil, I'd probably have to update the review to three stars. I do appreciate that they are making the food as freshly as they can (though Indian food can rarely be made to order from scratch, as it would take too long) as I could see them preparing ours when we came to pick it up. Definitely worth a visit or pick up! They supposedly have a convenience store, but there isn't much there in that regards. read more

One of my friends recommended Himalayan House for takeout. Kudos to him, because this place didn't fall short of expectations. It's great that Himalayan House offers a lot of variety. We were able to try all sorts of dishes. The chicken korma and chicken tikka masala were both very good. The lamb vindaloo was decent. But the lamb saag was freaking amazing! I wanted to also try the typical sides, such as samosas, roti, and stuffed naan. However, they aren't as good as the main entrees. read more

This place was delicious! The only reason that I'm not giving Himalayan House five stars is because the delivery took over two hours on a weekday. We ordered: Garlic Kulcha Chicken Vindaloo Chicken Methi As I said, the food was great. When I called to ask about why my food was taking so long, the owner answered and was incredibly apologetic, said that they were considering changing their food courier service because this was a recurring problem, and even offered to give me a free entreé the next time I ordered. I would definitely recommend this place and just cross your fingers that the delivery doesn't take too long. Yummy yummy food though! read more

We lived in Baltimore seven years ago and absolutely loved this place (and still do!). Back then, it was a little hole-in-the-wall grocery with the most AMAZING PERFECT FABULOUS Himalyan / Indian food. They redid the interior before to include service and now the entire thing is full service and so nice! The high quality food keeps us coming back. When we drive through Baltimore, we invariably stop here for take-out for the family back home. Definitely go here!!!! read more

Giving 5 stars even though it's not always consistent. Sometimes the spice level varies, mild one day can taste like a medium another time. Once, the whole top layer of tikka masala was all grease. The momo (dumplings) felt like it was from couple of days ago, and the lamb biryani was same way too. Looks like it is not a busy place so they are using old food. This restaurant smelled like the restaurants in India- this is a good sign people. I've been meaning to try this place for sometime so finally I got to knock it off my list! I ordered takeout so I can't comment on waiting/service as much. We ordered the matar paneer, chicken korma and shahi paneer (this is for those who want chicken tikka masala with indian cheese instead of chicken) along with veg samosas. When it comes to Indian food I'm the creamy sauce kinda gal. The spices were great- if you aren't a spice person make sure to stick with the mild. The medium turned out to even be lot for me and I consider myself a spice lover. The chicken in the chicken korma was honestly so tender and perfect. I usually stray away from meat dishes when they are smothered in sauce since you can't really tell the quality or the way in which it was cooked. However, this chicken rocked my world. The samosas were fine, not the best I've ever had. And the tamarind sauce and green chutney were the same- not bad by any means, but not the best (in my opinion). Overall I say this place is a winner, and earned mad props from me simply by some good nostalgia. But also great food, and the little I interacted with staff it was very pleasant and easy. read more

Himalayan house is our favorite Indian/Nepalese food in the city. Unfortunately they had to close for some of the pandemic and we were thrilled when they opened back up. This was a tough one for me to find! Drove by it twice. It is definitely a corner hole in the wall type of place. And of course I'm a sucker for these places. Scoped it out for a business lunch, and I'm glad we went. They have not only Indian food but Nepalese food. I've never had that before sobof course i'm going to order from the unknown. It was anazing. I don't remember what they are called but they are lamb dumplings. Delicious! The portions were so big i had enough for two & a half meals. Good service and good food. We went for lunch around 1ish pm. The place was pretty empty. It's a small little place. We had lunch special with sag chicken and chicken momos. The lunch combo was a great deal!! Fresh rice, naan bread, saag chicken, green chutney with some garden salad for a veryy reasonable price! Momos were also really good and fairly priced! This was the first delivery indian food I had in Baltimore. So good. I have had food that is probably equivalent in quality, but none significantly better. I will order from here again and again. This is definitely a hidden gem in Baltimore. Nestled in Locust Point, this restaurant disguised as a convenience store, offered some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The only way to enjoy the true experience is to sit at the lone table in the middle of the store between the beverage refrigerators and food lined shelves. There is a tiny kitchen in the back where they spring to action once an order is placed. I had the chicken tikka masala, rice and garlic naan bread. The rice and naan were typical Indian fare, but the masala was truly flavorful and mouthwatering. This is truly great find on the outside of town. read more

I so much want to give a decent rating to this place but my conscience doesn't allow me to do so. I can explain the reason behind it as clearly as i can. I have been ordering food from this place for about 5 years. Samosa and Veg momos are my favourites but i have tried many other items in the menu- some are good, some are not so good. One of my biggest concern with this place is attitude and behavior of the staff of this restaurant. I used to order via doordash/grubhub initially, then once i started ordering frequently from this place, the owner was thoughtful (at this point it seemed so) and told me that i can call or text them directly and they will deliver the food. This arrangement worked well for a few times but last 2-3 orders have been messed up by the restaurant some way or other. And when i let them know about the issue, they royally ignore it and dont even care to respond or apologize for the mess-up (once i received heavily undercooked meat and on other occasion, i received less quantity of order than what i had originally ordered). I still have the text messages of me reporting the concerns/issues to the restaurant but no one acknowledging it from their end. I dont expect this kind of attitude. If i were ordering via a delivery app, they would have taken care of these kind of unfortunate mess ups, but by ordering directly from the restaurant, i have suffered losses on multiple occasions. As a result of which, i have stopped ordering from this place and will not order from here in future. Even if i change my mind and decide to order from here in future, it would be via one of the delivery apps so that issues (if any) with the order can be looked into and resolved accordingly. read more

Himalayan House is by far the best delivery you can get in Federal Hill or Locust Point. All the Indian food is pretty damn delicious and the pizza isnt bad either, though I like my crust a little on the crispier side. The tandoori chicken is a hit, as is the tandoori shrimp. You can't go wrong with the Kebab's and the Nepalese food they have is pretty tasty too, but i have no basis of comparison for that. Delivery generally takes no more than 35min so theyre timely as well. read more

Made a small order. I live 5 minutes away (yes I'm aware I'm being lazy) but ordered delivery. After 70 minutes I called to check on my order and....apparently they delivered my food to the wrong address and didn't bother to call me. I was also laughed at by the person explaining what happened to my food. Been 95 minutes now since my order was placed. I'll update my review later to finish the tale. It's been an hour and a half. I called to restaurant again to cancel the order and they wouldn't let me, telling me that the delivery guy was in front of my house (he is not). Don't let the exterior fool you, this place is legit. My first time here i had part of a samosa (which are HUGE), and some saag paneer and naan. I ordered the saag paneer spicy. I was glad that it brought the heat without overpowering the other flavors, and unlike other Indian places around town I've been, the spinach wasn't over-processed or drowned in too much oil. If I have any gripes, it's only that I don't live close enough for them to deliver, and that to get to their bathrooms if you're eating there, you need to go through the kitchen. Aside from that, I will definitely be coming back when I'm craving good Indian food. read more

I just finished eating my hot lunch delivered to my door by Himalayan House, and I was pleasantly surprised. Because it was my first time going Nepali, I decided to get a variety of dishes and save the leftovers for lunches later this week in case anything was a miss. I ordered the Alu Tiki (mashed potatoes fried with spices), the Raita salad, Paneer Kulcha (naan stuffed with homemade cheese), and the Lamb Momo (spicy lamb dumplings). The Raita salad was not my cup of tea: it was a bowl of yogurt literally with some cabbage-type vegtables in it. Not a fan. However, the Alu Tiki was very tasty, and the Lamb Momo was delicious. The seasoning was to die for, minty and spicy at the same time. The dipping sauce was the perfect compliment. Only reason why I give Himalayan house 3 stars is because the only amazing dish I had was the Lamb Momo (I would give the dish itself 5 stars). They could have been more daring with their spices in the other items I tried; just not quite enough kick for my taste. Overall very good for a delivery restaurant though. read more

Himalayan House is so, so, so good. I like a lot of ethnic food but Indian has always been lower on the list. This place changes that for me. The food is insanely good, reasonably priced for the huge portions, and delivered quickly. I'm in love with their biryani. It's wonderfully spiced with moderate heat. They stuff that takeout dish with as much rice as can fit. I think they sit on it to close the lid like you do when you over pack your suitcase. Add some naan to hit their delivery minimum and you've got a fantastic meal for two for $16. read more

Baltimore has a lot of Indian joints and the ones I like don't deliver to my house. I was too lazy to drive and thanks to the help from my Yelp community, I found this place. I'm usually hesitant to order ethnic food from a place that serves wings, but I took the plunge. Ordering online- easy and straight forward Food- arrived hot. Onion and Garlic kulchas were delicious and warm. Chicken Tikka masala- sauce was excellent. Okra- could have used more okra and a little less onion. My BF's parents gave us like 6 different coupons to use there since we figured it'd probably become a staple for us. Well, I asked them about it when I called to place the order and they said "Restaurant.com coupons are for dine-in-only". Funny, cuz it didn't say that anywhere on the coupon. We figured we'd save them for another time and ordered anyway. When I got there, I saw the sign posted at the register saying that the deals were for dine-in only... and I can't understand why. It's clearly a hole-in-the wall carry-out type place with no ambiance and only a couple large tables in the "seating area". I just figured if you want people to eat in your restaurant, you might want to spiff it up a bit. The food wasn't quite ready when we arrived but that meant it was piping hot when we brought it home. We got the lamb momo, lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, and naan. Everything was delicious, and it was my first time having momo. Heaven!!!! They give you a good amount of them too. I was expecting a little more in terms of serving size of the other dishes though, especially after so many people commented on the huge portions. They seemed pretty average for a take-out place but I'm assuming they give you more when you dine in. I guess I will find out when I go back to use my coupons! We tried them while our visit to baltimore. Its family owned business. My wife is vegetarian and very selective on the veg food. We tried aloo chilly for the menu. It came out to be very awesome. From the taste, you can figure out that it is cooked with special authentic spices. I ordered malai kofta and butter chicken for the kids. Usually u will find these curries similar in any restaurant. But there were different here and tasty too. We enjoyed the food and service was excellent. I will happy to give then 5 star. read more

Recently moved to Baltimore and needed to find a local indian food place. The most delicious chicken korma I have ever had. Delivery was extremely fast. I love when the portion size is still large even for take-out. The price was right (especially for this area) and online/app ordering makes it so easy. Also tried the chicken tikka masala and it was on point. Both dishes were very flavorful, NO bland food here. Even the basmati rice was perfect. I tried here and kumari. The portions here were larger (takeout) and i liked the korma better at himalayan. For lunch buffets theyre probably on-par. Kumari delivery took a lot longer (45 mins) but it was a friday night This will most definitely be my permanent indian place! read more

Horrible customer service, the order was never delivered ! We ordered through Grubhub and were informed that the food will be delivered in 45 mins. I even recieved an SMS from Grubhub notifying that the food is on the way and will be arriving in 10 mins. The SMS also mentioned the name of the delivery guy. However, the food did not arrive. After 1 hour I called up at the restaurant. The guy who picked up the phone confirmed that they did receive my order via Grubhub, the delivery guy was on his way and he should arrive in 5-10 mins. I asked if there was any issue with the order that caused the delay. The guy at the restaurant told me that they had some issues at the restaurant because of which all their deliveries have got delayed. I waited for almost another hour and the food was still not delivered. I called up the restaurant again and the guy denied receiving any orders from Grubhub. I was shocked since the restaurant lied the second time I called them up. I will never order from from here ever again due to their awful customer service. read more

I LOVE this place!!!! They always deliver the food nice and hot...and fast! I always get Chicken Tikka Malsala with Nann and it is the best in Baltimore, by far!! The portion is enough for 2 meals with a great amount of rice to meat/sauce. Driving by you would wonder what the place is, because it has some convience store stuff in it too..but thats perfect because in Locust Point we do not have those kind of places around here. We moved to the Riverside area recently and stopped in for lunch after visiting Fort McHenry on a sunny Saturday. Don't let the unassuming storefront and dive-y atmosphere fool you--this is some of the best Indian food we've had in Baltimore. We've enjoyed many of Baltimore's Indian restaurants--The Ambassador, Kumari (both locations), Indigma, Akbar, Darbar--but I think this is now my go to place. The vegetable korma and malai kofta were just perfect. Right amount of heat for the average person, lovely blend of spices, and creamy sauces that were subtly different from each other. We also had the vegetable momo (a steamed dumpling) that was quite different--good, but I'd probably be inclined to share as an appetizer rather than eat as a meal. The service was so friendly and the food so wonderfully prepared. Nothing bad to say about this place. read more

So delicious! I'm not vegetarian but their vegetarian entrees are delicious. For example if you normally get chicken korma, you should try their veggie korma - it is stuffed with delicious veggies that I think give the meal even more flavor than the chicken version (which is also delicious!) read more

Disclaimer: I came here with Vicky D., so if our reviews sound similar, that's why. I've gotten food from here twice now and the food tastes very good. If that were the only thing I was grading it would be a solid 4-4.5. The reason I'm only giving it a three is two-fold. First of all, we had been given some gift certificates as a gift when we moved to our house nearby. Nowhere on the gift certificate does it say that it's for dine in only, but when we arrived, we found a sign stating that they would only honor them if you dine in. A little odd, since it's essentially a take out place combined with a convenience store that they stuck a few tables in. Fair enough, but if you're going to make me dine in, then I'm judging you based on the atmosphere too, which is terrible. I'd rather not eat my lunch 5 feet away from a shelf with tampons and toilet paper on it. The "dine in" food is even served in the same to go containers as if you get take-out. I get the sense that the owner regretted offering the coupon deal (it was a $10 coupon through groupon or restaurant.com or something) and wants to re-coup half of that $10 thru a tip by making you dine in. The other knock is the portion size. More than one of the dishes we got (lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka masala) were a little light on how many actual pieces of meat were in the container (compared to the sauce, veggies, etc.). Not sure yet if that was just a one-time thing. Bottom line: the food tastes great, and that's the most important thing, but the rest put me off a little. Got take-out from here with some colleagues while working out of Baltimore yesterday. Most of the group got the chicken tikka masala, and I got my favorite dish, saag paneer. Each huge entree portion also came with a huge portion of rice--I could not believe how much food it was at that price! It was also really tasty, at that. We also ordered some naan, samosas, and a salad, but we could barely touch those since the entree portions were so ginormous. Definitely know where to get lunch again the next time I'm in Baltimore. The only problem was the food coma that ensued afterwards, and it was futile trying to concentrate at any meetings for the rest of the day. read more

Ordered through OrderUp! I ordered the Chicken tikka marsala and the Alu Tikka. So first off, I didn't get any utensils or napkins with my delivery, which I would have thought is always included regardless. I only really needed a plastic fork, would have settled with a spoon. This wouldn't normally be a problem but I took my food immediately to a library where there were no utensils either. I was going to save the food for the next day since it was already kind of late and I had lost some of my appetite. But, I found a fork a few hours later! So down to the food: The chicken is very very good, large chunk of chicken that are still tender! The sauce is creamy and very flavorful! I have a low tolerance for spicy food, so I ordered mild just to be safe. There is still a bite to it but not overwhelming that I can't continue eating it. The Alu Tikka, however, is right up there in spice. Its really good, but I have to reach for water after every bite. However, that's my lack of a tolerance for spicy foods. Overall, I recommend this place and I will definitely try more dishes! But I'll probably keep a spare fork with me to be safe. read more
