Tried this place out during my annual summer trip up from Phoenix two weeks ago and was shocked at how delicious it was. Our group of 4 all ordered the pulled pork sandwiches and were all in fits of joy over them. One of the best pulled pork sandwiches of my life. We also got the berry cobbler dessert and in addition to being delicious and piping hot, it had PRESENTATION?? In Rexburg?? It came out in a mason jar with ice cream on the side. Pinterest would be proud. Since Rexburg is sorta where restaurants go to die, I'm crossing my fingers that this place is still there next summer. read more

I recently ate here and the food was great. My trout was one of the best tasting dishes I've had in a long time. However, the service my wife and I had received that night was horrendous. We were seated and had to wait for quite some time for the waitress to show up. We needed a little more time to figure out what we wanted to eat since we both wanted to try something we hadn't had before so the waitress went to take orders from the tables around us, which was no big deal. The big deal was when the tables around us ordered and received their food before she bothered to come back and take our order. We placed our order and got our food and, like I said, it was very good. We thought about getting dessert as well but couldn't remember everything on the menu so we asked the waitress for a menu to look at and when she put the menu on our table that was the last time we talked to her. We were ready to place our order for dessert but she never came back. I noticed that the servers in general weren't being professional in the least bit. Most of the staff were at the front desk, chit-chatting and not doing anything while there were plenty of places to clean throughout the restaurant. We finally flagged someone down after just sitting there for what felt like forever and asked for our check because we got tired or waiting there. Great place to eat! Great food nice atmosphere! Reasonably priced. The only thing could make it slightly better is get some waitresses with personality! Jeez the last one we had didn't smile didn't seem like she enjoyed being there at all and was a tad bit on the rude side! Plus I asked for more water and she never bothered to bring it! Food is delicious. We used our dealio coupon book which made the waiter notably upset. She demanded that we tell her we will use it before we order. Ended up heading out to this place for lunch last weekend. What a great place. Tucked away in a small strip mall. Sign is hard to read from the road but worth the drive in. My spouse had the pulled pork sandwich and said it was one of the better ones he has had in a long time. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hickory used to be so awesome when it first came to town. Ever since then it's been on a downward spiral. Every time we go, we see our server 3 times our entire visit. They give us our drinks, take our order, bring the food and BAM a disappearing act! One time I got an undercooked burger and asked for them to cook it, not an unfair request imho. They were nice and got me another, but it was still completely raw in the middle! We just took it home and grilled it ourselves. read more

Love this place! I always love what I get here! Everything from the Big S Burger to the K-Dawg to the Pulled Pork. Their sauce is amazing and the service is always good. This is not a place to go if you're on a diet! The food is GREASY AND DELECTABLE. Now, since this place is so good, it's often that you won't be able to get a table for an hour or two. Sometimes they run out of the most popular items. But this is one of my favorite places in Rexburg, no doubt. read more

My family tried to have dinner at the hickory tonight. We went early to try and avoid the student crowed but that did not work. It took 45 min to get a table then we got our drinks but then after 20 minutes we waved down a bust boy and asked for our waitress to come take our order. They told us it would be a few minutes as our server was checking out 4 groups. It was another 7 minutes for her to come get our order. Then we waited and waited and waited for our food. We then asked for our server to come to our table. I explained that we were out of time and that we would need our dinner to go. She went to the kitchen then came back and said it would be about 4 more minutes. We had to wait another 15 minutes to get our food. Now the food finally got to us and it was great. So if time is not important to you then this is the place but if you don't have 2 1/2 hours for dinnet you better pick somewhere else read more

Freaking delicious. I got the combo plate with had ribs and brisket. It was amazing. My only beef (no pun intended) was that the portion sized could have been bigger. I personally love my bbq and being a poor college student would have preferred more meat for my buck. read more

The Hickory has such cheap prices for what they give you. They give you restaurant style food at almost the price of a fast food restaurant. I don't know how people could complain about that! They have a good variety of meat and sides (I loved their green beans, which usually I hate green beans, but these ones have bacon and all this good stuff). As far as people complaining about the pulled pork, well we are not in the south, so it's good for being in Rexburg. The environment is fun and they use mason jars for cups. I don't know how you couldn't love the place for what you get! The only thing that would make it better is if they got Coke products instead of Pepsi ;). read more

Really good food. The bbq is amazing. I love the food every time I come. Gets a little busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Generally busy for dinners and reasonable wait for lunch. Hey if it's busy it must be good. Only downside is the fries are a little limp. Sometimes service is a little slow but all in all if you haven't tried the hickory then you probably haven't had some good bbq I'm Rexburg. read more

I had the two combination of meat which included the brisket and the ribs. It was really moist and tasted wonderful. The ribs were also very good. The side salad is very large and very good. My wife had a salad and it was very also tasty. read more

One of the few places in Rexburg that has a couple vegetarian options! I love their veggie burger, mac & cheese, and don't forget the fired pickles! As a fried pickle aficionado, this place has one of my favorites. Strawberry lemonade is also amazing, it actually has chunks of strawberries in it. I am from out of town on my last night in Rexburg Idaho I decided to take me and my friend James to the Hickory the hickory restaurant looks good from the outside get inside and it looks great I had and James had the New York steak baked potato I had green beans and bacon he had baked beans and baked potato he says you have to you can have two sides but they charge us for the baked potato and it was supposed to be a loaded baked potato and was not just had sour cream and bacon also the both potatoesLook like they had been microwaved cold and horrible James is baked beans were cold and look like they were under the heat lamp forever the steaks were tough and salty I would give this zero out of 10 for this restaurant very bad experience however they did offer to give us new sides but I was not confident into thinking that the sides be any better the second time around they didn't offer any discounts off on meal for the two steaks came to $48 which read more

AWFUL service. And I'm not exaggerating. So i love their food actually quite a bit. I was very excited to go to their new location tonight... To start off, they took forever to bring out our food. At least 30 mins and it wasn't that packed. When they did bring it out we were very shocked by the serving size of the sides! I had actually ordered 2 sides of sweet potato fries and it BARELY looked like 1 helping. And my friends' 1 serving looked like it was maybe 8 fries. We asked them to look at it and they said it was correct so we complained and they brought us an extra side for us to split. Still hardly any more. THEN, get this, i picked up my rather large mason jar glass drink and the bottom of the glass shattered and it spilled all over me and my food. When i looked around for help the employees had all noticed but were just staring and kind of laughing. We actually had to call them over for help! Ridiculous honestly. They didn't offer to do anything besides a free dessert so I said they should refund my food but they said all they would do is get me some fries to go. So when they brought those...guess how many fries their were. WE COUNTED 12 FRIES! So yeah that was an awful experience i left completely soaked and sticky having to pay for food i didnt get to eat... never going there again read more

I have had multiple bad experiences with the hickory. With the most recent we ordered online and when we showed up at the time we were given they said they didn't get the online order but we were still charged for it! We had for wait forever for them to start from scratch and even then they left some things off the burger. This happened on multiple occasions! They blame it on their online system but if it's broken literally you're a business, get it fixed!! Also the fries here taste like dirty potatoes. read more

Solid food especially for Rexburg, the only reason I give this rating is for inconsistencies and customer service. The ribs or brisket are pretty inconsistent as far as how they are cooked, the burgers are really good. Root beer floats are a tad spendy but very large. Once when they were still fairly new I stood at the front counter for 15 minutes without any employee acknowledging me. I've been here probably about three times have had two completely different experiences. The first time I got a pulled pork sandwich and it was wonderful. All the meat and fries were fresh, the sauce was amazing (I liked the spicy). But the second time I went the food was not fresh. The fries tastes old, the meat was not warm and the bread was soggy and I couldn't even pick up my sandwich. I was totally disappointed. The waitress was great though very polite but the only thing I can imagine is she left my food sitting out forgot about it and the brought it out cold. It was a huge let down from the first visit. The food was outstanding! The quantity and quality earn high marks. However, the time it takes to receive your order is significantly long. We waited an hour for our food. The place wasn't packed and several people came in, ate and left before our meals were brought out. They were not complicated orders or something that took a lot of prep time. This visit was awesome! My husband and I walked in on a Saturday night to see that the wait area seemed packed. We walked up and asked how long the wait was and he said he could seat us at the bar. We got right in and were well taken care of. Our server had great suggestions for food and always kept our lemonades filled with whatever flavors we wanted to try next. The food was great.
