Of all the Costa Vida locations we have gone to, I've never seen one this disfunctional. The guy on the tortilla press couldn't make a useable tortilla but they used them anyway. All were lopsided, not even close to round and they all had some kind of hole or tear in them. Poor kid in front of us had a burrito made with a big tear. Then the food containers had food mixed in from other containers, handles were caked with food... looked like there had been a food fight that morning cuz the mess of food was dry & crusty. I ordered two chicken tacos that normally come with pico, and I asked if they could replace the pico with sour cream because I can't eat pico. I was told no, and that sour cream would be extra. I ended up paying full price for tacos that had only chicken, lettuce, and tortillas, with nothing on top, because they wanted to charge me full price plus extra for sour cream. It's frustrating that a cheaper topping (sour cream) couldn't simply replace pico. I wasn't asking for more food -- just a substitution. This felt unnecessary and disappointing, especially for such a simple request. I come here all the time and they've substituted it before. read more

They ran out of rice, and offered double beans or chips. The problem is that the kids don't like straight beans. Management refused to make reasonable accommodations paints, nor did the offer to discount our ticket. Portions are very small. The pictures on the menu look like full dishes but the what they actual serve you is probably half the size of rice and beans. i had this *s word* of an experience at costa vida. i ordered what i thought to be a grand burrito, but was very disappointed when i saw the disgrace that was at my door step. my burrito had a hole in it, how can i eat this when it all falls out every bite? how is that luxurious costa vida? how is that worth $13? how is that worth the excitement? i was utterly completely let down once again. not to mention my drink had no straw and i had to naw at it from the lid. how hard is it add a fn straw? how hard it is it to make the burrito not fall apart? am i asking too much from you costa vida? this is insane. i feel personally attacked. i cant even enjoy a nice meal. my mother in law died this morning and i was thinking i could enjoy a nice meal to distract me from the pain and agony, WRONG. she is staring at you from hell costa vida. The tables were clean, the music wasn't too loud, the cashier was cheerful and I was particularly pleased with how Bobbie made my burrito. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this time it was needed. This was a waste of time! Called in 2 orders and did one on the app. Got to the location and they say the food is almost ready. They are waiting on steak. The we sit through another 25 mins. Go to the counter and they say the they are still cooking the steak. Mind you about 30 people have went through the line without pausing for steak. In the end, an hour later our food was ready. I told the guy I was upset and he said "I understand people being hangry and all" . When we get home we were missing the sides of guacamole we ordered. Café Río here in Rexburg is terrible, so I switched to Costa Vida and their food and service is SO much better. The store is big, clean, full of friendly employees, and I've never once had a poor experience. Even when it's packed full of customers, the line moves quickly and you can typically find a table. Since Costa Vida has replaced Bajio's in Rexburg, it has been a popular option for lovers of "Fresh Mex." As much as I liked Bajio's, Costa Vida is a bit of an upgrade--their meat and sauce options just taste a little better. Like most similar chains, you have your choice of burritos, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, or salads with a standard set of meat, bean and rice options. Their sweet pork is incredible, as is the mango chicken or raspberry chicken. They also have fish or shrimp taco options, which Hungry G. readers will know is a homerun for me. The key lime pie is a very nice choice for dessert. A Cheap Tip: big eaters should order an extra tortilla ($0.49). You'll have plenty of stuff on your plate to fill it with and its like getting two for the price of one. read more

This is the most disorganized Costa Vita location ever. Every time I order take out from here it takes way longer than they say it will. And when I done in it is packed and the line moves so slow because they can't keep track of orders, this is because they are constantly chatting with each other and when you try to tell them what you want they act like you are interrupting. I love Costa Vida, it's my favorite restaurant, and I'm a regular there! However, there's some things that need to be said. Lately this Costa Vida has been skimping on portions BIG TIME. Pictured below is a beef taco. There should be more meat than just a shmear, right? I'm not the only one. A friend of mine ordered a large chips and guacamole recently, and the cup of guacamole was barely halfway full. When she asked if she could have some more the girls said she'd have to ask her manager; her manager came out and said, "I can give you one more scoop, but THAT'S IT." I've had other friends tell me very similar stories; they've all complained that Costa Vida has not been giving out very big portions, and they're hesitant to go back as a result. They're becoming the Soup Nazis of Rexburg, because if you ask for a little bit more, you get charged extra when all we want is a full portion (for the record that is a reference to the tv show Seinfeld, I'm not calling them literal Nazis). I love you Costa Vida, but either management needs to lighten up a little bit, or you need to teach your workers about proper portions. People come here to get a good helping of food for a good price. Please keep that in mind if you want happy customers. read more

Customer service here is pretty crummy... We went in while there was no line yet we waited 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. The one employee in the front was flirting with a girl the entire time. Made eye contact with us and just get talking. There was another guy in the back who also made eye contact but did nothing. 5 minutes later, a girl came out to say, "sorry, we were just hanging out in the back." The food is alright. It's not awful. I would advise to avoid the lettuce and pico. It leaves this puddle of water/tomato juice that makes everything in your plate just soggy. As others have mentioned, it's a decent "fast casual" Mexican food restaurant. Their portions are great for the price. NEGATIVES: depending on the time of day, there may be quite a wait. Unless you get the special of the day, it seems a bit overpriced. PRICE: about $5-8 per meal. RECOMMENDED: I usually get the meal of the day. Bring your student card for a discount. *For those people that rated this poor because it's fast food, you need to stop comparing apples to oranges. Amazing Mexican food! Plus you can choose any weekly special if you're a college student (with your ID). They don't scrimp on the portions either, which I always appreciate.
