The chips are served slightly warm, but very crispy. The salsa is delicious. Like more of a chipotle salsa with a bit of spice. I ordered one side chicken enchilada. It was a very large portion. It was covered in a red chili sauce. The chicken was extremely tender and flavorful. The tortilla was just wet dough. My husband ordered the chicken chimichanga. He said it was very good. Chicken is moist and flavorful and the tortilla was delicious and fresh to perfection. His chimichanga came with a generous helping of guacamole and sour cream. Also refried beans and rice. The pricing on the menu is below reasonable. It is extremely inexpensive. You get a large portion of food for a very low price. Food comes out right away. Not sure I'm a fan of that as I like the experience of dining. But for some, it may be a positive. My husband loved the food and the price. I thought the food was average. Interior ambience is awesome. It kinda has a Mexican vineyard/casita sorta vibe. It being so unassuming from the outside I'd never stop by before this time and can say I am pleasantly surprised by the interior, the front entrance is a little cramped, but has some Mexican tropical plant vibes going on, with some pretty interesting plants. Although spiky, so be watchful of the kiddos. Pleasantly surprised by the decor as the outside is pretty lame. Upon entry, you greeted with a delightful aroma, which is always a plus in a restaurant, a good sign that the food is going to be tasty! The bad: The chips and salsa are not bottomless. The salsa is extremely watery and very hard to eat. Although the flavor is really good you have to sip or drink it to find that out as the seasoning is in the liquid. It really defeats the purpose of chips and salsa if you ask me and I am pretty annoyed by that. It's also not very shareable friendly that way. But if you want the easiest eating experience with it with the full flavor of the salsa broth I t's easier to take a drink of salsa and then eat a chip, again pretty annoying. The beans are also on the loose side almost watery, the color is unappetizing, but flavor is decent, you can taste the lard I believe and it is well salted, sticks to the chip a whole lot easier than the salsa at the very least. Less flavorful than the salsa though. The price, $28 plus tip for the Molcajete dish I felt wasn't necessary worth it. It was big enough to share but it felt more like a $19-20 dish than an almost $30 one. We called ahead of time and they basically couldn't understand what we were saying, English Spanish barrier. The good: Lemon slice for water was very generous, usually that's a skimpy item, not sure if that was a fluke or not. They have the good sonic style ice as well! The ambiance was nice. Delicious food. We had the Molcajete. The sizzling Molcajete stays hot the whole meal. A combination of well seasoned chorizo, chicken, beef, shrimp, onions and peppers swimming in their juices, the flavor of the chorizo permeating throughout the dish. It had a well seasoned great flavor and the meats were all tender and not overcooked. It also came with grilled green onions and grilled cactus, which both were a delight. There was 8 tortillas and two of us eating, just enough for one taco of each meat and plenty left over for combining with the beans and rice, Probably the best pico around, a little heavier on the cilantro than most places, your mileage may very. Although you don't get a ton of meat for what you are paying for. Just a taste of each for two basically. The side plate of guac, pico, rice and beans was on the light side for sharing. We had lengua and chorizo sopes. Lengua was tender and very good. Sopes were nice and crispy. Chorizo was tasty. Both very good and would get again. Burris tacos were great. Funky building, might have been a gas station at one time. Lunch time can be very busy with locals, students, business folks and construction workers, which tells you how liked this place is. The curtido (cabbage) at Sal's is a great addition and well seasoned. The carne asada taco was good. It was flavorful and bigger than your average street taco. However, it was pretty greasy. Use several napkins and then wash your hands right after type of greasy...but that's where the flavors at! Lol. Prices are slightly higher than the other places I'm accustomed to. However, my options in Idaho Falls for Salvadorian comfort food are limited so I'll take what I can get. Everything is cooked when you order it so be prepared to wait for a bit or call ahead. There were probably 3-4 people ahead of me during lunch hour and I waited close to 30 minutes for my food. Realized after getting the menu that the server had gone to eat lunch as well, so I had to go find them. Ordered off the lunch menu (still before 3pm), and ordered a taco salad, which according to that menu, beans and rice were included. Was told the taco salad was "just a salad" nothing else, and after I'd left, I found they charged the dinner price (which was higher) and that was probably why I didn't get beans and rice. Taco salad is described as: Served in a shell bowl with lettuce your choice of Beef/Chicken, lettuce, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, tomato, and drizzled in our house sauce.... I was brought a bowl with shredded beef on the bottom (which is fine), basically covered with lettuce to fill the bowl (maybe that's why the word lettuce in the description occurs twice?), one half slice of tomato (not cut up), and a big mass of sour cream. No discernible cheese (maybe a tiny bit mixed with the lettuce), and definitely no guacamole. Just lettuce on top of shredded beef with a large dollop of sour cream and a half slice of tomato. When the server did come again, I asked what happened to the guacamole? She noted (given it had been some time again), that I'd eaten about a third of the dish, and she said "oh, it was included, you may have eaten it." Ok, I'd already been there too long (I had a 3pm appointment), so I just sighed and ate a bit more. I had to go to their lunch table to get a check so I could pay and leave. Maybe it was because I was there when they didn't want customers bothering them, but if so, they should close during that time period as some other restaurants do.
