Agave Grill Parking and exterior: ample parking, the lame looking exterior really does an injustice to the interior. Don't be fooled it's actually pretty good. Waiters: decent, maybe understaffed Food: well seasoned, decent portions Cost: it's a little on the pricey side and average dish is $14-18$ Bathrooms: adequate but single person only. Interior ambience is awesome. It kinda has a Mexican vineyard/casita sorta vibe. It being so unassuming from the outside I'd never stop by before this time and can say I am pleasantly surprised by the interior, the front entrance is a little cramped, but has some Mexican tropical plant vibes going on, with some pretty interesting plants. Although spiky, so be watchful of the kiddos. Pleasantly surprised by the decor as the outside is pretty lame. Upon entry, you greeted with a delightful aroma, which is always a plus in a restaurant, a good sign that the food is going to be tasty! The bad: The chips and salsa are not bottomless. The salsa is extremely watery and very hard to eat. Although the flavor is really good you have to sip or drink it to find that out as the seasoning is in the liquid. It really defeats the purpose of chips and salsa if you ask me and I am pretty annoyed by that. It's also not very shareable friendly that way. But if you want the easiest eating experience with it with the full flavor of the salsa broth I t's easier to take a drink of salsa and then eat a chip, again pretty annoying. The beans are also on the loose side almost watery, the color is unappetizing, but flavor is decent, you can taste the lard I believe and it is well salted, sticks to the chip a whole lot easier than the salsa at the very least. Less flavorful than the salsa though. The price, $28 plus tip for the Molcajete dish I felt wasn't necessary worth it. It was big enough to share but it felt more like a $19-20 dish than an almost $30 one. We called ahead of time and they basically couldn't understand what we were saying, English Spanish barrier. The good: Lemon slice for water was very generous, usually that's a skimpy item, not sure if that was a fluke or not. They have the good sonic style ice as well! The ambiance was nice. Delicious food. We had the Molcajete. The sizzling Molcajete stays hot the whole meal. A combination of well seasoned chorizo, chicken, beef, shrimp, onions and peppers swimming in their juices, the flavor of the chorizo permeating throughout the dish. It had a well seasoned great flavor and the meats were all tender and not overcooked. It also came with grilled green onions and grilled cactus, which both were a delight. There was 8 tortillas and two of us eating, just enough for one taco of each meat and plenty left over for combining with the beans and rice, Probably the best pico around, a little heavier on the cilantro than most places, your mileage may very. Although you don't get a ton of meat for what you are paying for. Just a taste of each for two basically. The side plate of guac, pico, rice and beans was on the light side for sharing. I have tried a variety of items at this restaurant and in general everything is in the good category. Things I really enjoy are the enchiladas and the street tacos. The salsa is tasty as well. Everybody is always friendly. The place always seems busy but not over crowded. Would definitely recommend for Mexican food in this area of town. read more

This was a pit stop from Montana to Arizona and this was as good as anything in Tucson... Chips were amazing, being diabetic and chips are off the list for me - I couldn't resist and I wasn't disappointed. Problem is, they are not bottomless like almost or really every Mexican restaurant I've been too. I had to order the cheese dip to get more chips. the food was just super fresh, flavorful and really well executed. I really fell off of the diabetic boat and got a Carne Asada Chimichanga, sooooo delish. Service was slow, but friendly and they were moderately busy, so no big deal. Went here ordered combination meal asked for shrimp in everything, and told them we had ordered before, and they had charged us $3,99 to each menu item for change.Whixh they told us before making dinner. Stopped by for lunch while in Idaho Falls because I craved some good Mexican food. Heading back from hiking Hell's Half Acre trails, we found this restaurant in a strip mall on the west side of town. Walking into the restaurant, we could immediately smell the great odor of the food. We were seated immediately and made our drink orders. There are several beers both bottle and on tap. There are mixed drinks as well such as margaritas and such I ordered the lunch taco plate (#5) and my wife had the fajitas. As an appetizer, we ordered the taquitos. The taquito appetizer was large enough for two or three people. It could actually be a meal for one if so inclined. For a lunch meal special, there was a ton of food. The portions were generous. We did not leave hungry. The waiter was attentive and our drinks were filled regularly. The service and food quality of this restaurant was excellent. The food is authentic Mexican. The flavors are just what I was looking for. My wife's fajitas were cooked to perfection, however, she didn't care for the marinade. After our meal, I read some of the negative reviews and found that we did not experience what those reviewers did. Great food. Quick, fast, and filling. read more

Waitress was very sweet and decor on the walls was very authentic looking. Came in on Wednesday night and services was extremely slow. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food and there was only one other table in the whole restaurant. Kids beef enchiladas where extremely salty and peppery. Pollo Fundido was well seasoned, but topped with cheddar cheese that was a bit different. Coctel de camaron was delicious but didn't have very many shrimp in it. Be forewarned if you come here you are going to have a bad time. What a total and complete shit dump. Attempted to eat here for lunch with my family and a friend. We stood at the host stand (where the sign requested you wait to be seated) for ten minutes without a single employee coming to greet us, or offer to seat us at a table. Mind you there were maybe four seated tables in the entire restaurant, all of whom looked as though they regretted coming to this establishment. When we were finally able to flag down someone who seemed to work there and asked if they could seat our party they rudely told us to "stand over there". Pointing to exactly where we had stood for the previous ten minutes. Rather than waste anymore time at this dumpster fire and not wanting to give these clowns a cent of my money we walked out. Bottom line, eat anywhere else. Fishing some garbage from a dumpster or chewing on lightbulbs might be a more enjoyable experience. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 3;00 pm. Waited for 10 minutes to slow seated. Got drinks and chips right away. Waited for 10 minutes before I got up and went asked one of the servers if we were ever going to be served. He acted surprised and in a few minutes came by to take our orders. Waited forever for meals. Guac was really good as are chips. Salsa is not bad either. First time here and was really hoping to have had a better experience. Came here with friends and was seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had drinks fairly quickly. I ordered their top shelf. Margarita and I can tell you it was quite good. I also ordered the plate with three enchiladas and opted to go with cheese only. They were a little different than I expected as they were basically just small tortillas folded up like a quesadilla. Having said that they were still quite good and I would order them again. The rest of the table had a variety of other items, and everyone said that they are dishes were very good. The restaurant has a more traditional Mexican restaurant field and many of the options in Idaho Falls and I quite enjoyed the ambience because it was just comfortable. If you're looking for good Mexican food on the east side of Idaho Falls, this is definitely a place you need to try. Their salsa is also quite good. The owner manager is rude and unprofessional. We found hair in not only our appetizer but one of our entrees. We had gone there 5 plus years but the service and attention was unaceptable. I told our waiter he brushed me off. I called the manager by phone because I wanted it brought to the attention of staff to avoid other people having to get the same. I'm not sure why there's such high ratings for this place. Upon approaching the entrance the odors coming from the restaurant were off-putting, but I decided I should trust the high Yelp ratings and not judge a place by its smells. It was pretty clean, the server was nice, and the service was quick; however, the smells emanating from the foods were nauseating. The odors reminded me of an old, dirty home --combined with food. I couldn't even finish half of my entree. The salsa also had the same off-putting odors, which is also puzzling. Later, I burped and the gross odors returned and briefly nauseated me again. This has reminded me of the importance of the olfactory experience when eating. I won't be back, and I do not recommend this place. read more
