Carne asada

First time here even though we've had a cabin nearby for seventeen years. The food and service were great. We were there for dinner on a Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Even though there were several other groups, our food was delivered super fast. They brought chips, salsa and hot bean dip as appetizers. They use lots of tomatoes and red/green peppers in their food. Their plates are heated in the oven before being loaded with food, so be careful and don't burn yourself. Good variety of bottled and regular drinks. We were too full for desserts, but they offer fried ice cream, chirps and flan.

The refritos are among the best anywhere. Chili Verde really flavorful. Service is very good. Highly recommended.

Really good Mexican food. Family owned and run. Very price efficient with a host of offerings around $10.

Strangest little restaurant. Me and my boyfriend stopped by (we are from out of town) to get some…read moredinner. There were two waitresses working and we were only the second table in the restaurant not busy at all. When we walked in we looked around for a hostess, nowhere to be found, then out of the corner of our eye we see a lady (probably about 30, dark hair) curled up on the waiting room bench on her phone. She slowly gets up and takes us to a table. I politely ask if we can get a booth. She seemed upset. She replies "I'll have to clean it" I said that's fine we will wait. She gets more upset and finally brings us our water after seating us and slams it down. We order cheese dip she forgets until the second time she comes back. We order drinks, I was almost positive there was no alcohol in it l. My wonder is that she added barely any if anything because she was upset with us for asking for a different table. I almost had it sent back but decided against it. Our food comes out. Something's off. Nothing like I've tasted before in Mexican food. The chips also were the worst I've ever had. Must have been cooked in some really bad oil. Either way it was all very disappointing and unfortunate to have to pay 80$ for service and food like that. Over all would not recommend. The other waitress seemed nice she was small Hispanic. The one with the attitude and the too tight clothes shouldn't be working in the service industry.

My family and I went to Taqueria Malverde after visiting Yellowstone National Park and were excited…read moreto get dinner that wasn't burgers or sandwiches. The Forbes Yellowstone book mentions it and the Yelp reviews were good, so we decided to give them a try. Taqueria Malverde is open until 9pm most if not all days of the week and they have people lined up outside their truck fight until closing time. Note that this place is a taco truck in West Yellowstone and so they only have outdoor seating and takeout. With that said, they have an extensive menu that is not only limited to tacos but also includes burritos, pozole, tamales, platos, and tortas. The workers all speak fluent Spanish and English. They also make their own fresh tortillas in house. We ordered two PLATO POLLO (CHICKEN) TAMALES ($13.99) and one PLATO CARNE ASADA ($19.99) to go. Note that they only have outdoor seating and the mosquitos are out in the evening. The PLATO TAMALES came with two tamales, but they were unfortunately tasteless and the chicken inside of them was dry. They really needed the salsa verde (or salsa rojo) to give them some taste. The rice and beans were good though. They were maybe 4 inches in length and so one plate can really only fill one person. For $13.99, the plate was pretty steep for what we got. The PLATO CARNE ASADA was slightly better, but not by much. The beef was tough, dry, and stringy and tasted more like jerky than carne asada. It came with 3 small flour tortillas, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, grilled jalapeño, and avocado. Again, the rice and the beans were the highlight of the meal, although the vegetables tasted fresh. Service was good and we got our food within 15-20 minutes after ordering. So why the one star instead of maybe two or two and a half stars? They only gave us one plate of tamales, even though we paid for two plates. It wasn't until we got back to our hotel in Island Park that we realized we only had two out of three of our dishes. Maybe the plate had gotten left behind or maybe it was poor communication between the cashier and the served. Regardless, we spent $16 more with tax and tip than we received. Rule of thumb: If you go here, make sure to check your order before you leave the truck. Overall: 2/5 for food, 1/5 for service
