    Chips and queso

Wow. This place was great. Exactly what we needed. The queso was on point, the salsa was also so good, got a refill. The rice, cooked to perfection. Beans, amazing. Taco and enchilada? Great as well. Nothing but good things, great spot to stop on the way to/from West Yellowstone

First time I've had mole with peanut butter. Okay then, I'm sure you're wondering how it was. We'll, I wouldn't call it mole, but I liked and was confused by the flavors. It was like eating a light mole with a hint of barbecue sauce and peanut butter. I felt like I was a judge on Beat Bobby Flay when they say it was flavorful, but not quite the intended dish. The complimentary chips and salsa was great. The chips were warm and the salsa had wonderful flavors. We came here as it was one of the few places open late near our lodging. The inside is lively decorated and the wait staff are friendly.

Experience wise this was a bit of a mixed bag. We were a group of 12. When we walked in nobody greeted us for nearly 10 minutes. What's worse is several servers walked by us several times and instead of acknowledging us and letting us know it will be a wait, totally chose to ignore us. I had to go to bar and ask what the deal was before a manager finally made their way over to us and seated us. By the point it wasn't just our group waiting but two others. That knocked a star off for me. Contrast that with our server Isaias who was fantastic. Friendly, funny and making sure we were taken care of he really helped make it a better ending. The food itself was fine. I mean just fine. It wasn't omg this is awesome but good enough. The guac was weirdly coarse, just chopped avocado, not mashed. The queso was great. I had steak and surf and turf tacos with the steak being the better of the two. Most of my group enjoyed their meal well enough that there weren't any complaints. If not for the poor experience at the beginning it would have been 4 stars.

It was my first time trying this place. It didn't disappoint. I visit Island Park/Yellowstone every year and I might make it a tradition to always eat here. I love the location of it. There is also outdoor seating. We got there right as they opened and got seated right away. We had a bigger group and they had a table big enough for all of us. They have really good chips and salsa which is complimentary. We tried the carne asada nachos which were good. They were huge that we couldn't finish them all. I ordered the burrito supreme which was delicious. It was huge that I had leftovers the next day. I will definitely be back.

Friendly service. Food was good, not the best but good for the money. View is amazing. Service was slow.

Staying in Island Park for our visit to Yellowstone National Park and so fortunate to have found Cafe Sabor, loved everything - menu options were awesome and service by Nick was superb. His recommendation to try Pollo Durango was great and appreciated! Manager Freddy was very friendly and seated us the minute we walked in even though the place was pretty busy. Will definitely return again ti eat here

My family and I went to Taqueria Malverde after visiting Yellowstone National Park and were excited…read moreto get dinner that wasn't burgers or sandwiches. The Forbes Yellowstone book mentions it and the Yelp reviews were good, so we decided to give them a try. Taqueria Malverde is open until 9pm most if not all days of the week and they have people lined up outside their truck fight until closing time. Note that this place is a taco truck in West Yellowstone and so they only have outdoor seating and takeout. With that said, they have an extensive menu that is not only limited to tacos but also includes burritos, pozole, tamales, platos, and tortas. The workers all speak fluent Spanish and English. They also make their own fresh tortillas in house. We ordered two PLATO POLLO (CHICKEN) TAMALES ($13.99) and one PLATO CARNE ASADA ($19.99) to go. Note that they only have outdoor seating and the mosquitos are out in the evening. The PLATO TAMALES came with two tamales, but they were unfortunately tasteless and the chicken inside of them was dry. They really needed the salsa verde (or salsa rojo) to give them some taste. The rice and beans were good though. They were maybe 4 inches in length and so one plate can really only fill one person. For $13.99, the plate was pretty steep for what we got. The PLATO CARNE ASADA was slightly better, but not by much. The beef was tough, dry, and stringy and tasted more like jerky than carne asada. It came with 3 small flour tortillas, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, grilled jalapeño, and avocado. Again, the rice and the beans were the highlight of the meal, although the vegetables tasted fresh. Service was good and we got our food within 15-20 minutes after ordering. So why the one star instead of maybe two or two and a half stars? They only gave us one plate of tamales, even though we paid for two plates. It wasn't until we got back to our hotel in Island Park that we realized we only had two out of three of our dishes. Maybe the plate had gotten left behind or maybe it was poor communication between the cashier and the served. Regardless, we spent $16 more with tax and tip than we received. Rule of thumb: If you go here, make sure to check your order before you leave the truck. Overall: 2/5 for food, 1/5 for service

We were very thankful it was still open as late in the season as it was. But we walked in, were greeted warmly and took a seat in their spacious dining room. Our server Hollie was prompt and friendly and took our two orders. My wife went for a Classic Cheeseburger ($16.99) with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle spear, a choice of cheese (Cheddar, Pepper Jack, American, or Blue Cheese), and a side of house made chips. We were stunned to see the burger was in reality a DOUBLE burger, so the portion was very large, and those home made potato chips were sensational. I went with the Fish Tacos ($17.99) with Mahi-Mahi Fish, Shredded Cabbage, Pico de Gallo, Red Pepper Crema, Flour Tortillas, Tortilla Chips & Salsa. There were three very large tacos with plenty of fish and were delicious. The weak link was clearly the tortilla chips which suspiciously looked like they were from a bag of Tostitos. Our very enjoyable dinner ran around $36 after tax/before tip. PRO TIPS Attention gambling fiends! There is a casino room in the restaurant with seven slot-type machines and an ATM machine.
