The service was spectacular! The young servers are really knowledge and sweetly attentive. The food is diner food and tastes great. The prices are reasonable and portions generous. The decor is country and laid back. It's a highly recommend for the awesome service and food!

Old Town Cafe was the last restaurant I ate at while staying in West Yellowstone. I decided to stop in for breakfast before leaving to drive down to Grand Teton. The breakfast items we had were okay. The pork steak was a bit too salty and the breakfast burrito (I asked for it to NOT be deep fried) was meh. The "salsa" it came with tasted more like Pace picante sauce. The portion sizes were well worth the price. Ideally, 2 people could split the breakfast burrito. The highlight of my time there was the friendliness of the bartender.

Nothing sounds better than a nice hot chicken fried steak with fresh country style gravy, sadly that's not what we got! More like Chicken Fried Strip. It was so chewy and tough. We also ordered the cheeseburger which is a pre-made patty, c'mon now! For those prices, you expect it to be hand made. The waffle fries were good or maybe I was just hungry. The chili was ok, nothing to rave about. Our server named Will was at least willing to replace the dish, but after one or two bites we were over it.

Pleasant ambiance and nice spacious interior. Missed brunch by a little bit, so had to opt for the lunch menu The waitress recommended the wraps and any of the burgers. We got the Old Town Burger and the BBQ Chicken Wrap. The burger was extremely well cooked and very tender & juicy, but definitely underseasoned (some salt and pepper shakers were already at the table). The wrap was decent and packed with crunchy lettuce, chicken, bacon bits, and cheese. However, the chicken was quite soggy and wasn't exactly "crispy". I wish the cheese could've been melted or something too. The wrap tasted very much like the individual parts, was quite dry, and definitely needed something else to help it go down (perhaps more sauce, because I barely was able to taste the BBQ flavor). Both dishes came with a healthy serving of waffle fries which were delicious

Great place to stop by on your way to or back from Yellow Stone. Located in the central part and with other shops, gas, markets near by. Food was amazing and service is super quick! Highly recommend to anyone passing by.

You are welcome in advance . . . SERVICE // service was atrocious. I want to believe it had nothing to do with my ethnicity. I want to believe it had everything to do with he just didn't give a shit about a party of two. But I will tell you the two larger parties that were all Caucasian including their children received outstanding service. They received their utensils wrapped in white little packages, their food came out hot and on time and before hours and we were seated before them. And wait till I get to the food that's an interesting mix. AMBIANCE // To put it simply there is none. FOOD // my friend ordered biscuits and gravy with white gravy with no sausage, scrambled a side of sausage accompanied with home fries. What he received was something entirely different. He received sausage and biscuit with white gravy with sausage crumbles in it, bacon, two eggs over hard, hash browns and some kind of weird corn mixture on the side. When we received our coffee we did not receive any utensils with to mix the creamer into the coffee. We tried numerous times to gain someone's attention and outside of getting up and walking into the kitchen and obtaining it myself. We did not receive it until the food arrived. Both plates were cold and his gravy and biscuits had solidified on top, anyone who's ever been in the food service business knows this is from sitting out too long. When we spoke with the individual who brought our food out he was extremely quick to pass the blame and said he has no idea what's going on but he's not our server and he would tell someone. Our server took a solid 12 minutes to come back to us and then wanted to argue with tableside with us. He admitted that the food was incorrect this was an order that went to the wrong table. CONCLUSION // in conclusion, I would never suggest anybody go here for any meal. They appeared very rushed very frantic and they are all about turning their tables and the money. They allowed us to sit at a dirty table for over 15 minutes not to mention they have no one checking anyone in so you basically check yourself in & seat yourself. There are far better places to receive a hot meal, friendly service and fresh food then to torture yourself with going to this place.

Ambiance is perfect. Just how it is described. Old west town. Decor is great. Rustic. We ordered The Standard, and it IS pretty "standard", but, as a bonus, the hash browns come with onions and green peppers. Quite delicious. The food was grand, service very attentive and overall a GREAT place! We stopped by another place about three blocks away and there was a 45 minute wait. Here, no wait. I just wonder, was the breakfast free? Do you have a chance of a prize? Come here instead. No wait, everything was superb. AND the coffee was the best we've had in a while. NOT weak.

Came here for breakfast and had a decent experience. Nothing that popped the tastebuds to inspire a revisit. Staff were mostly friendly. Breakfast burrito was bland somehow but not bad. I would recommend looking for other breakfast places like the Running Bear

In a town where…read morebreakfast options can be somewhat limited, service can move at a different pace than larger cities, and many establishments don't open particularly early, Book Peddler fills a nice niche by serving good coffee, made-to-order breakfast items, and offering a genuinely enjoyable bookstore to browse before heading into Yellowstone. I'd still suggest checking their website for seasonal hours, but we found them open early enough to comfortably fuel up before entering the park. The coffee program is surprisingly strong for a small tourist town bookstore café. They offer several locally roasted coffees, including lighter roasts, darker roasts, and decaf options, along with espresso drinks and specialty coffee beverages. We found the coffee to be among the better options available in town. The breakfast menu was another pleasant surprise. Rather than relying solely on pastries or grab-and-go items, many of the offerings are prepared to order. You'll find breakfast burritos, sandwiches, vegetarian selections, and meat options, giving most travelers enough variety to satisfy differing tastes. It's one of the few places in West Yellowstone where you won't be steered towards elk or bison! During our visit they offered both vegetable and ham quiches, along with chili. Everything we tried was fresh, satisfying, and felt like a step above what we expected to find in a small gateway community. Service is solid, though perhaps not spectacular by large-city standards. Orders can take a little while during busier periods, but honestly it felt very much on pace with West Yellowstone as a whole. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and seemed genuinely interested in making sure guests had a good experience. Given the town's relative isolation and dependence on deliveries, it's also not uncommon for certain items to occasionally be unavailable, whether that's a specific milk option, produce item, or pastry. We found the staff to be upfront about availability, and it never materially detracted from the experience. The bookstore itself is worth spending some time in, even if you originally stopped by only for coffee. The selection leans heavily into Yellowstone, national parks, western fiction, travel, and regional history. It's a much better place to find a unique souvenir or gift to bring home than another shop selling the same T-shirts, magnets, and trinkets found throughout town. Final Thoughts: Book Peddler quietly does several things well at once. It's a good coffee shop, a surprisingly strong breakfast stop, and an independent bookstore that rewards browsing. If you're spending a few days in West Yellowstone, I would recommend making at least one morning visit before heading into the park. We enjoyed it enough that it became part of our Yellowstone routine. -AC

I ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage, green bell peppers, onions, and eggs with buttery hash browns on the side, plus the soup of the day which was the Tuscan soup, and both were really good. One of my friends ordered the cinnamon roll pancake, another got the classic breakfast with buffalo sausage (which was surprisingly delicious), and the other ordered a meatless breakfast burrito. Everything at the table looked fresh and hearty. I also loved how easy checkout was. They bring the receipt directly to the table with a QR code so paying was quick and convenient, and our server was super accommodating by splitting the bill four ways with no issue. The restaurant itself has that cute cozy cabin-style feel, plus they sell fun T-shirts and souvenirs inside. Extra shoutout for helping me wrap my breakfast burrito to go before our flight. They brought me foil paper so I could keep it warm, tossed it in my bag, and yep... I ended up eating it on the plane later. Definitely a solid five-star breakfast stop while visiting Yellowstone!

No luck there, but it turned out that taking a chance on the real thing was worth it: I had the best vanilla affogato ever, with very little tummy trouble afterward, and my hubby discovered huckleberry ice cream. Some of the choices here will take a bit longer to put together - the bubble waffles are made at the time of purchase, and take a couple of minutes in the iron. Espresso is also made one lovely shot at a time. We were lucky enough to visit W. Yellowstone in early May, when there aren't any lines, so waiting for a minute or two wasn't a problem, especially when it turned out the ice cream and espresso were both so delicious. For a small shop, the menu is really diverse. There are two different types of waffle cones (hot bubble and premade standard), a full range of coffee shop essentials with alternative milks (almond, soy, oat), crepes, shakes, and a few panini sandwiches (including vegetarian). Indoor seating is limited, but there are outdoor tables as well. The shop is small, but cozy and offers some souvenir items as well. This is one of the best indie coffee and ice cream shops I've been in (not just here, but anywhere) - I hope it doesn't lose anything to the massive crowds that will descend upon it once summer's here.
