Cute Teddy Roosevelt themed burger joint. It offers indoor and outdoor seating. The service was quick and friendly and the burgers were good. Con: There were many gnats flying around on the food and drinks, which made enjoying the meal less satisfying.

Halfway into the frontier sheriff with fries

Food quality is easily 5/5, but the prices push my overall rating to 4/5. We ordered one American Burger and one Frontier Sheriff, upgrading the latter to bison for an extra $5.50. Both were a generous size, and the side fries were excellent. I'd skip the salad unless you're really craving greens. We enjoyed both burgers. They didn't ask for a preferred doneness on the patties, but they were cooked very well regardless. The bison patty was especially impressive--juicy and not dry at all. My Frontier Sheriff came drenched in beer cheese sauce (a win for any cheese lover), which made it harder to judge the patty on its own, but the sauce itself was delicious. The only real miss was the beer-battered onion ring, which was almost nonexistent. The American Burger was simple, classic, and very satisfying. I also liked the buns; they felt somewhere between brioche and white bread, soft but sturdy enough to complement the enormous patties. Service was pleasant and friendly. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but for a tourist spot, the quality and portion size make it worthwhile.

I wouldn't say anything in particular puts this place over the top. The burger was good, and big. Fries were the 'hand cut' style which usually leads to some of the fries under cooked. My daughter had the kids Mac and cheese and said it was good. She was a bit nervous at first but relieved in the end. For the price, I don't know if I would come here again but that's what you get in a town outside a national park. Everything was as I expected from previous reviews. The decor was all TR, which you would expect from the name.

Teddy Roosevelt seal of approval...

Stopped in for lunch; sat outside to enjoy the hustle and bustle of West Yellowstone. Never made it inside; so can't comment on the actual place/cleanliness. But, the food was great! My wife and I had some of their signature burgers with fries. Will definitely be back to try some of their other burgers (one has peanut butter and jelly - I'm intrigued)...

Salad (they forgot the chicken)

Vibes were a 10/10, food was pretty solid, the servers were really nice, but service was REALLY slow. A family of four sitting next to us waited 50 minutes just for fries and another 15 minutes to get their burgers. We came in with a larger party (11) so it's understandable that our food took longer but we still waited 40 minutes for salads to come out and another 20 for the burgers to come. When the salads came they were missing the chicken and they had no crispy jalapeño like the menu advertised. Half of our fries were room temperature and half were piping hot. I think people who got the burgers were very satisfied, but everything just took a long time. They were clearly short staffed that day but they didn't warn us when we came in that service would be slow, or check in with us after we were seated to explain their situation. I'm still giving 4 stars since I think this was just an off day, I'd still recommend this place and come back next time *menu has changed from the ones shown in other posts*

Solid burger spot in Yellowstone. Definitely overpriced but you can def share the burger. It's big and quite heavy. I like the rancher and onion rings but $13 for a small basket was not worth it.

Wow, wow, wow!!! This has to be one of my top favorite burgers of all time! The quality of the meat and flavor was sooooo good. I ordered it without the sauce it came with and added garlic aioli on the side. If you can't due certain sauces due to diet restrictions, the burger itself was so juicy (not greasy) and flavorful that it honestly didn't need it. Everything else in the photo is what the burger came with, which is great because I really like toppings. The fries were also really good... crunchy but not greasy. 10/10. The only con was the price point, but that's about it. Ps. I have to note that even though we arrived maybe 30min before closing, after a long day at Yellowstone, they did not disappoint one bit. We will 100% be back next time we're in the area.

I had the Double Presidents burger and it seriously might be one of the best burgers I've had, and I've eaten burgers in nearly every state. Big, juicy, flavorful steak patty cooked just right. Fries were hot, crisp, and perfectly salted. Staff was friendly and really attentive without hovering. Great spot to unwind after a full day exploring the park. Definitely a must-stop if you're in the area.

Smashburger

Great find for a day of hiking in Yellowstone Service - 5 Atmosphere - 5 Food - 4 -- we got the fried pickles and a smashburger. The burger was tasty but bun a little cold. We were recommended the pickles and they did not disappoint.

The San Juan

I decided to treat myself to a hefty burger after a long day of hiking. After seeing the reviews, I was excited to give this place a try. Parking was easy to find on the street. The interior is T. Roosevelt theme which is not surprising, given the name of the restaurant. It's small and cute, with indoor and outdoor seating available. While the burger patty is standard on all, you can't adjust how you want it cooked, I had difficulty narrowing it to one because all the burger options sounded so good. I ultimately landed at the San Juan (includes avocado spread, crispy jalapenos). You can "Call the Cavalry" which means you want to include lettuce, tomato, onions, etc. My burger was so good and savory. The avocado definitely made my burger so filling and satisfying to eat. Definitely a hefty treat.. YOLO. The fries were at the perfect crisp. The entire meal was chef's kiss.

Cheese Curds
Gregory B.

Great spot just outside West Yellowstone. Several unique burger options, went with The President, called in the cavalry. Big patty, very tall burger. The bully sauce was good. Thought the fries were, ok, tasted like they look. The curds were the best part of the meal. The huckleberry sauce was very sweet, added some ranch and oh boy, it was good! Outside was nice, great weather. A lot of white little flies but they stayed near the flowers and didn't really hover over our food

The Rancher
Elizabeth W.

Staff were friendly, outdoor seating was very pleasant. Quality elk burgers and clean bathrooms.

The president

These burgers were incredible. We got the president and the commissioner. The pretzels with beer cheese was also amazing. Service was great and I highly recommend trying this place!

A great stop after leaving Yellowstone. The onion rings were amazing and so were the burgers but they were huge!!! Definitely shareable.

The Huckleberry lemonade was very good and was recommended. While Reis was good, the asparagus and mashed potatoes were very good. The bison tenderloin was good, but I think it's better served as a ground meat in a burger form. It was tender, but not as flavorful as some of the other bison, I've recently had. The ambience is a pub/bistro setting. The service was exceptional as my server attended to me several times to check in on how was my meal

The squeeze and I shared the pulled pork samminch with onion rings on the side. It also comes with slaw. I ordered a cup of bison chili as well. The slaw was white cabbage that had a hint of horseradish bite. The chili was good, had a hint of heat. The pulled pork lacked its own flavor profile. The BBQ sauce made it enjoyable. I saw hand cut fries on the menu and ordered those as a side. They brought an order to our table, but it was actually for another table, and I spied that the fries were prepared horribly. That dark brown color that comes from not knowing how to remove the excess starch, having the wrong fry oil temperature, etc., etc.. These were really really bad looking, brown fries. And so I quickly said "oh let me cancel my order of fries" ( because I knew I wouldn't be eating these) and they said "oh your fries are already in the fryer. We cannot cancel them"; so I said "OK. Fine bring them". And then I didn't touch them, but I just planned to pay for them. I'm going to show you photos from my home of the way I make fries. You see, I lived in Holland for several years and they take their potatoes very seriously over there and I became addicted to fries that were golden in color and not burned. So they sat uneaten. But when our real waitress came around to ask how everything was, I told her that the fries were burned and she kindly removed them and did not charge for them. So five stars for service. The chili was good. Profound cumin flavor. Several types of beans. But. If you don't like cumin, this is not for you. It's essentially a cumin stew.

First of all, we were thrilled to see it was open, as so many of West Yellowstone's restaurants had already closed for the season. It was a real neighborhood kind of a place, and by that I mean totally unpretentious and without any of the foo-foo fanciness that pops up in resort towns now and again. Their menu was solid -and concentrated on burgers, sandwiches, steaks, local elk, bison and walleye, and Italian Pasta with a "Montana Twist". More on that soon. We started off with a complimentary basket of house baked bread that was so good it just about disappeared in ten minutes. I felt like having a beer, so checked out their beer list of local beers before choosing a Halo Huckleberry Hefe ($6) by Lewis and Clark Brewing of Helena, Montana. Huckleberry is a local specialty, and nearly every gift shop sold jam, jelly, honey, and candies made from it. We both love Italian food, so we zeroed in on those Italian Pasta with a Montana Twist specialties. My wife chose the Bolognese ($23.99) for "Elk and bison meat sauce tossed with rigatoni pasta and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese." I went with the Meatballs ($24.99) for "Elk and bison meatballs tossed with bucatini pasta and house-made marinara sauce". Wowie... were both dishes great. The Elk and Bison tasted pretty close to beef, and I have to say my meatballs were excellent. I tried a bite of the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was also excellent. The house made marinara was a standout. Our server Emily was a charmer and really enhanced our dining experience. Simply put, we loved Bullwinkles and thought a $57 dinner with a drink and great food is a very solid value.
