I will have to agree this is the best bbq in town. Line was out the door but moving fast. It is closed 10pm or until sold out and I can see them selling out. For variety we got 1/2 lb brisket and 1/2 lb pork ribs. Both were nicely smoked. Bbq sauce was tasty, especially the hot one. I prefer the lean brisket (they ask if you want lean or marble) because it does have some decent fat on it too. Pork ribs were good however too little meat for the amount of bone. We ordered a baked potato too. It is a quarter pound of meat. We got pulled pork. I'm glad we tried this as it was very good. The potato was hot and cooked through. We got two sides- corn salad and coleslaw. Although the corn salad was supposed to be the unique thing to get, we enjoyed the coleslaw more. Service was fast and friendly. We were reassured that we were making good decisions, lol. Seating is limited and first come first serve. It is crowded, but that's what makes it fun.

We had a brisket and loved it This is not a full-service restaurant. You stand a line to get your food. But the wait is worth it. The restaurant is nice and clean. While on our trip to Yellowstone, we visit his place four times

Great bbq! Line is long but moves fast. We ordered the half rack of ribs and pound of brisket. It was plenty of food for two people. Also got Mac n cheese, corn salad, and Cole slaw. Order first and then you sit down. The meats were cooked amazing - falls off the bone. The brisket was a little salty for my taste though.

This was definitely the best meal we had in Yellowstone and I genuinely cannot stop thinking about this BBQ! Firehole is a very no frills, casual counter order restaurant but the meat was unbelievable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I got the brisket sandwich which was a generous helping of chopped meat and my friend got the loaded baked potato which she loved. The meat was so tender and juicy and I loved the house bbq sauce. The mac n cheese was also really good! Would 1000% come back here if I'm ever in the area.

Came for dinner and the line was to the door. I like that they dont allow people to save tables must order f¹irst then sit. You order at the counter and get your food at the same time when paying. We ordered a full rack of ribs and a pound of juicy brisket. Sat outside to eat. The brisket was juicy and delicious but could use more sauce. Idk the BBQ sauce on the table isn't the same as the sauce on the brisket . The ribs were good too. Reheating isn't very good though for the brisket. The ribs were still good reheated. Overall recommend this place.

The staff is really welcoming and care a lot about the experience and quality. I ordered the brisket sandwich, 6oz cole slaw, 6oz macaroni and cheese, and a bottle of water for $20 plus tip. Not bad pricing, the sides were delicious. The sandwich was okay, it left more to be desired since it was just meat on bun. I think it was supposed to come with a pickle and onions which I didn't get. Other than that it was a good stop, convenient and in town. Plenty of parking out back.

We went in the evening and the only meats were sausage, pulled pork, or turkey. I didn't order any of these since I don't really consider this BBQ. Instead, I got sides of a plain baked potato (they wanted to charge another $7 for like a spoonful of meat) and corn salad. The potato was drenched in butter unfortunately. The corn salad tasted like nothing. The pork that I tried from my friend was super salty. Absolutely awful food.

    Nothing left...it as THAT good.

This is an easy uick stop in route to W Yellowstone entrance. Why son and I stopped for a late lunch and were exceedingly pleased we did. We both got pulled pork sandwiches with slaw. We both were entranced with the smell of the well- smoked pulled pork as evidenced by the pictures with a third already gone before I remembered that folks are going to want to see it as well.

This is hands down the best bbq I've ever had. The service was fast and the workers were incredibly kind. You can tell they enjoy their job and believe in what they do. Can't wait to come back to Yellowstone and take a pit stop here!

Ribs and bison sausage. We ate it all!

Amazing ribs, beans, and bison sausage! Took some brisket sandwiches back with us for later in Yellowstone

Holy smokes the food is good here. I'm really not into BBQ to be honest but there's no denying the stuff they have here is truly delicious. Even the coleslaw was pretty amazing. We tried going a second time on our trip but found out they open at noon so we couldn't make it out there twice. I love that you order at the counter and they serve you right away! After eating at another place in town that was super disappointing, I looked in yelp and saw this is definitely the highest rated restaurant around!

Does this restaurant opens up at 11am? I found another question and answer but google map says it's 11 am and was confirmed one week ago.

Yes they do which I recommend. They list 11 to 10 but more accurately 11 am til they run out which does happen they are that good.

Does this restaurant open up at 11am or 4pm? Yelp says 11am but google says 4pm (9/10/21)

Hours are 4pm and until they sell out.

Does the staff wear masks to avoid spreading COVID to customers?

Yes, they were all wearing masks, however, they were very unfriendly and not helpful at all when we (first time customers) had questions about how much/what to order.… Read more

With our expectations in check, we chose this restaurant for last nights supper. What a pleasant surprise!! The menu was comprised of interesting dishes that you won't find every day. The service was spot on. Knowledgeable, friendly, patient, welcoming. Our dishes were a pure delight. We enjoyed Idaho trout, bison steak, their speciality salad, and blueberry bread pudding. The Huckleberry lemonade was very good and was recommended. While Reis was good, the asparagus and mashed potatoes were very good. The bison tenderloin was good, but I think it's better served as a ground meat in a burger form. It was tender, but not as flavorful as some of the other bison, I've recently had. The ambience is a pub/bistro setting. The service was exceptional as my server attended to me several times to check in on how was my meal

First of all, we were thrilled to see it was open, as so many of West Yellowstone's restaurants had already closed for the season. It was a real neighborhood kind of a place, and by that I mean totally unpretentious and without any of the foo-foo fanciness that pops up in resort towns now and again. Their menu was solid -and concentrated on burgers, sandwiches, steaks, local elk, bison and walleye, and Italian Pasta with a "Montana Twist". More on that soon. We started off with a complimentary basket of house baked bread that was so good it just about disappeared in ten minutes. I felt like having a beer, so checked out their beer list of local beers before choosing a Halo Huckleberry Hefe ($6) by Lewis and Clark Brewing of Helena, Montana. Huckleberry is a local specialty, and nearly every gift shop sold jam, jelly, honey, and candies made from it. We both love Italian food, so we zeroed in on those Italian Pasta with a Montana Twist specialties. My wife chose the Bolognese ($23.99) for "Elk and bison meat sauce tossed with rigatoni pasta and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese." I went with the Meatballs ($24.99) for "Elk and bison meatballs tossed with bucatini pasta and house-made marinara sauce". Wowie... were both dishes great. The Elk and Bison tasted pretty close to beef, and I have to say my meatballs were excellent. I tried a bite of the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was also excellent. The house made marinara was a standout. Our server Emily was a charmer and really enhanced our dining experience. Simply put, we loved Bullwinkles and thought a $57 dinner with a drink and great food is a very solid value.
