When we pulled into town, this place was popping. We thought it must be good. So we dropped our luggage and came back. The place was still busy so we sat at the bar where we were greeted by Tanner. He was attentive and helpful. I had the huckleberry lemonade, my husband a local beer, and our daughter vodka soda. Everything here is huckleberry and I embrace it wholeheartedly, especially the vodka. We shared the nachos, which seemed a little pricey especially considering the cheese isn't real; more like nachos cheese. However, they are a good size. The ambiance is what you'd expect, wild animals amidst tv's. Being so close to the "closed season" choices are limited. I hear there are bands when the patio is open. It would be a great place if there was live music year round.

Walked in fire lunch the sign said find a seat. We sat at a high top which a group just left from and the waitress was quick to clean it off. It was a Saturday and they had several TV's playing college football. My husband was so happy. Warm and inviting atmosphere including animal heads hanging along the walls. Of course a Buffalo front and center. Waitress was very nice and service was great. We both ordered the barbecue chicken salad. One of the best meals we had in Yellowstone area. We had trouble finishing the chicken it was a full size breast sliced on top and juicy. Served with Texas toast and ranch dressing. It also had a nice outdoor patio with bar and live music at night. If you in west Yellowstone make sure to stop in you won't be disappointed.

There's not a lot of food options near Yellowstone, so this tends to be one of the more popular spots. It definitely has a very specific Americana vibe, complete with a casino section and taxidermied animal everywhere - not really my vibe after a beautiful day of exploring Yellowstone, but I guess it comes with the territory. The food is mostly standard American fare, specializing in bison/buffalo. We got the bison meatloaf and the mountain fries, which were decent but nothing stood out other than the huge portions. The huckleberry lemonade was mediocre and has a strange aftertaste. Overall, good to get filled up here but I would temper expectations. The service was friendly and attentive though.

One of the best meals we had in West Yellowstone! And the huckleberry cocktails - yum! The hostess was bubbly and friendly as soon as we walked in. This fun attitude fit perfectly into the bar ambiance full of taxidermy animals and large screen tvs playing that nights football game - very lively. The server, unfortunately, was far less enthusiastic and off. (Maybe she was having a rough day). We started off with a huckleberry margarita and a huckleberry lemonade - both delicious! For meals, we ordered the buffalo balls and buffalo tacos. Although the buffalo balls are on the appetizers list, it is huge and very well served as a meal since it comes with mashed potatoes. Both meals were good! The meatballs were one of my favorite meals in West Yellowstone. Yum!

After an incredibly long day in the park, my husband and I stopped here around 430pm for an early dinner - we really had our pick of the place and were quickly waited on. First, the portions here are absolutely massive. We split the queso with buffalo chili, which was delicious. I had one of their burritos and it was truly massive...but it really was quite tasty. I wish I could have eaten more of it - but could only eat half since it was so large. My husband opted for one of their burgers - trading the patty for a buffalo patty; he finished every bite of it. Overall, it was an eclectic menu - but good good for a sports bar.

Open late, even on a holiday. Great food and super attentive servers. The West-Mex Burger was outstanding with the chipotle sauce stealing the show. My wife had the Chicken Tacos and was super happy with them. This is an excellent stop and not so much of a tourist trap. Loads of table seating that is set up for groups or just couples. It does get a bit loud when it's full up but it is really good. Pricing is a bit on the higher side, but expected in this area.

Hog Trough Nachos, big enough to share with four as an appetizer.

We stopped into what we thought was a little sport's bar in West Yellowstone. It turned out to be so so much more. The place turned out to be huge, with really good staff, above average menu, and a good selection of drinks. We were just looking for an appetizer to hold us over till dinner so we ordered the 'Hog Trough Nachos' to share. From the time we ordered to being served was amazingly quick, and we both thought this was one of the best nachos we've had. They serving was huge and we actually took some home. Talked to a few people there, and everything from hamburgers, burritos to tacos were enjoyed. I would totally enjoy going back.

This was our favorite bar in town, we went here 3 nights out of our 5 day stay, even to end the night with drinks. We had Bison Chili Con Queso, Cinnamon/Sugar pretzels with cream cheese, BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, lots of yummy drinks - Huckleberry Lemonade is the best in town bc they use real berry puree. The vibe is casual and it's a local hangout place.

This is a great find. We walked in and sat right away. We had multiple servers and there were all great! Anytime one walked by they checked on us. We got the beer battered cheese curds to start and they were soooo good. The cheese was soft and fresh. My husband got a primate rib sandwich which he loved! He could stop talking about how tender the prime rib was. I got a bbq chicken salad which was enough for 2-3 people. It was so good but too much. I only wish I could've taken it with me. The place was decorated for Halloween season but also decked with buffalo intrue Yellowstone fashion.

Jam Burger

Nice bar in town close to the Yellowstone entrance! Seating was easy and not too crowded when we came. Came back here on 2 separate times and tried carne asada tacos, huckleberry wings, and jam burger and garlic mushroom. All meals were great and price point is fair based on servings given! Staff were friendly also and very attentive both nights.

Such a cool place to get some food and a beer. Very busy but still had great service seated at the bar. Wings were good, buffalo gorditas were good as well. My wife's taco salad was ok. I would have liked to try one of the entrees but wasn't hungry enough for a big meal. Very noisy because it was packed at the rush, but still could talk to each other and not have to yell.

Cowboy Burger with fries - delicious; but couldn't finish it!

Once again, had a great meal (burgers for three) and some specialty drinks to celebrate a birthday. All had been excellent. Sat in the rear patio area. Our server was doing double duty and tending bar in back; she was excellent and kept checking in with us. Always enjoy coming to the Buff Bar!

Yes they can and have items on the menu that are gluten free friendly

Do you have to be over 21 or is it family friendly?

You don't have to be over 21 but I don't see this place as a kid friendly restaurant. I wouldn't recommend ordering from the kids menu. It's not kid friendly.

Yes they do.

With our expectations in check, we chose this restaurant for last nights supper. What a pleasant surprise!! The menu was comprised of interesting dishes that you won't find every day. The service was spot on. Knowledgeable, friendly, patient, welcoming. Our dishes were a pure delight. We enjoyed Idaho trout, bison steak, their speciality salad, and blueberry bread pudding. Every dish was delightful; fresh, full of local flavors. If you visit West Yellowstone, this place is the second most important destination right after the park!

The Huckleberry lemonade was very good and was recommended. While Reis was good, the asparagus and mashed potatoes were very good. The bison tenderloin was good, but I think it's better served as a ground meat in a burger form. It was tender, but not as flavorful as some of the other bison, I've recently had. The ambience is a pub/bistro setting. The service was exceptional as my server attended to me several times to check in on how was my meal

The squeeze and I shared the pulled pork samminch with onion rings on the side. It also comes with slaw. I ordered a cup of bison chili as well. The slaw was white cabbage that had a hint of horseradish bite. The chili was good, had a hint of heat. The pulled pork lacked its own flavor profile. The BBQ sauce made it enjoyable. The onion rings were okay. Pretty much a 3 star meal, but our server, Liliana (spelling) made it a 4. Fast service.

I saw hand cut fries on the menu and ordered those as a side. They brought an order to our table, but it was actually for another table, and I spied that the fries were prepared horribly. That dark brown color that comes from not knowing how to remove the excess starch, having the wrong fry oil temperature, etc., etc.. These were really really bad looking, brown fries. And so I quickly said "oh let me cancel my order of fries" ( because I knew I wouldn't be eating these) and they said "oh your fries are already in the fryer. We cannot cancel them"; so I said "OK. Fine bring them". And then I didn't touch them, but I just planned to pay for them. I'm going to show you photos from my home of the way I make fries. You see, I lived in Holland for several years and they take their potatoes very seriously over there and I became addicted to fries that were golden in color and not burned. So they sat uneaten. But when our real waitress came around to ask how everything was, I told her that the fries were burned and she kindly removed them and did not charge for them. So five stars for service. The chili was good. Profound cumin flavor. Several types of beans. But. If you don't like cumin, this is not for you. It's essentially a cumin stew.
