Don't believe bad reviews! NOT TRUE! James, the owner, personally greeted us. He was very sweet and personable during our entire visit in his restaurant. We like James's professionalism, efficiency and food! It was very cool learning that he actually has a perfect palate which makes perfect tasting dishes for his customers! While in college, James told us he worked as a server and instinctively knew when a plate wasn't right and had no qualms in telling the cooks before dropping the plate into his customers tables. He was always right! Example: when customers ordered medium rare and james knew it wasn't, the executive chef would look at it and tell him he's correct while telling line cook that meat was made wrong! Lol. We love James attention to detail and unwavering principle of serving higher quality food for his customers. We taste fresh ingredients first hand on our tongues and in our happy stomachs. Hamburger- 6.5 oz of good quality beef which was hand pressed and cooked to perfection. This juicy burger was one of the best we've ever eaten! Very moist ! Came with lettuce, pickle, onion and tomato. Choice of cheddar, American, Swiss, pepper jack cheese. Fries served with it too! $12.50 (5 stars) Tuna Salad- Salad greens mixed with fresh veggies, Parmesan cheese and a hella delicious hone made tuna salad mixed with just a touch of mayonnaise. It was crazy awesome! $11.50 (5 stars) When in West Yellowstone, don't miss this local gem ! We're coming back!

Excellent service and food! We stopped in this little cafe on our way to The Grand Tetons. It's slightly off the main stretch but we'll worth the additional 2-3 minutes. The service was top notch and friendly. The food was seasoned perfectly and delicious! I loved the Eggs Benedict. We left feeling like locals and will definitely be back.

Great place to go while waiting for my flight to arrive. The owner is super friendly and nice. As others have said, it's a one man show. The owner runs back and forth between the kitchen and getting orders. He tells you ahead of time it may take a while. I ordered the lobster roll and it was great, different then I've ever had before but great.. The food came out a lot quicker than I expected and prices were very reasonable.

Our server was very friendly and conversational and recommended some of their best meals. We went with the elk ravioli and lasagna. The ravioli was good but the lasagna was very oily which was a bit off-putting. For dessert, we ordered the huckleberry cheesecake which was disappointing given that it was just a regular cheesecake with a little bit of huckleberry sauce on top.

"The revolution will not be televised And will not star…read moreNatalie Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia" (Gil Scott-Heron) Dinner at Bullwinkle's was a very pleasant experience. First of all, we were thrilled to see it was open, as so many of West Yellowstone's restaurants had already closed for the season. It was a real neighborhood kind of a place, and by that I mean totally unpretentious and without any of the foo-foo fanciness that pops up in resort towns now and again. Their menu was solid -and concentrated on burgers, sandwiches, steaks, local elk, bison and walleye, and Italian Pasta with a "Montana Twist". More on that soon. We started off with a complimentary basket of house baked bread that was so good it just about disappeared in ten minutes. I felt like having a beer, so checked out their beer list of local beers before choosing a Halo Huckleberry Hefe ($6) by Lewis and Clark Brewing of Helena, Montana. Huckleberry is a local specialty, and nearly every gift shop sold jam, jelly, honey, and candies made from it. We both love Italian food, so we zeroed in on those Italian Pasta with a Montana Twist specialties. My wife chose the Bolognese ($23.99) for "Elk and bison meat sauce tossed with rigatoni pasta and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese." I went with the Meatballs ($24.99) for "Elk and bison meatballs tossed with bucatini pasta and house-made marinara sauce". Wowie... were both dishes great. The Elk and Bison tasted pretty close to beef, and I have to say my meatballs were excellent. I tried a bite of the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was also excellent. The house made marinara was a standout. Our server Emily was a charmer and really enhanced our dining experience. Simply put, we loved Bullwinkles and thought a $57 dinner with a drink and great food is a very solid value.

The Forbes Yellowstone book mentions it and the Yelp reviews were good, so we decided to give them a try. Taqueria Malverde is open until 9pm most if not all days of the week and they have people lined up outside their truck fight until closing time. Note that this place is a taco truck in West Yellowstone and so they only have outdoor seating and takeout. With that said, they have an extensive menu that is not only limited to tacos but also includes burritos, pozole, tamales, platos, and tortas. The workers all speak fluent Spanish and English. They also make their own fresh tortillas in house. We ordered two PLATO POLLO (CHICKEN) TAMALES ($13.99) and one PLATO CARNE ASADA ($19.99) to go. Note that they only have outdoor seating and the mosquitos are out in the evening. The PLATO TAMALES came with two tamales, but they were unfortunately tasteless and the chicken inside of them was dry. They really needed the salsa verde (or salsa rojo) to give them some taste. The rice and beans were good though. They were maybe 4 inches in length and so one plate can really only fill one person. For $13.99, the plate was pretty steep for what we got. The PLATO CARNE ASADA was slightly better, but not by much. The beef was tough, dry, and stringy and tasted more like jerky than carne asada. It came with 3 small flour tortillas, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, grilled jalapeño, and avocado. Again, the rice and the beans were the highlight of the meal, although the vegetables tasted fresh. Service was good and we got our food within 15-20 minutes after ordering. So why the one star instead of maybe two or two and a half stars? They only gave us one plate of tamales, even though we paid for two plates. It wasn't until we got back to our hotel in Island Park that we realized we only had two out of three of our dishes. Maybe the plate had gotten left behind or maybe it was poor communication between the cashier and the served. Regardless, we spent $16 more with tax and tip than we received. Rule of thumb: If you go here, make sure to check your order before you leave the truck. Overall: 2/5 for food, 1/5 for service
